Also, i'm sure you already know this, but if you've never lifted before, it would be a good idea to partner up with someone with some strength training experience. They can watch that your form is correct and that you aren't potentially doing damage to your body.

I go over my calories 9 times out of 10... I have a bottomless pit, and eating 1200 net calories a day is just too little food for me, most days. I thought it was because my food wasn't nutrient dense, but this happens even on the days that I am eating more than a pound of fruits and veggies and plenty of protein.

Why not?! I grew up in a filipino household, so un-breakfasty food for breakfast was common (I was the weird kid who had the strange mystery lunches topping a mound of rice). Now, I still have no qualms about having stirfy and rice for breakfast. Sure, I'll add an egg, too- so it looks like breakfast.
