  • Great thread. I am 6'5" and aiming for 195. I am not doing too much in the bulking department, but I am getting more into my old Army routine of pushups and situps. Also, I don't run, but walk a lot. Running never gave me the supposed high and I had issues with bad shin splints. My goal, even if I appear ultra-thin is to…
  • To have a green number as close to zero as possible every single day!
  • Splurging keeps you sane. No worries. Just don't let one day become two and three ect...
  • Chuck Norris counted to infinity....twice!
  • I heard it said over the weekend that Lent is "Spring Training for the Soul". Amen We work very hard to improve our bodies, lift the weights, watch what we eat, and do the cardio. So often however, we forget to feed our souls. Lent is an important time for us to measure up how we have been spending our time. Are we more…

  • You'd be surprised actually! I got a fit bit just because I had a "feeling" that I was burning more calories than I thought I was. I never realized that I have a tendency to pace when I am on phone calls, and I am on the phone for most of the day. Pacing helps me clear my head and think better. I was burning about 500 more…

  • I got my wife flowers, and she got me car care products. When you are both in sync, life is beautiful. But I certainly think you hubby was just trying to be a good guy. Enjoy a cookie and share the rest ;)
  • You can log your tredmill time as a special event. You enter that the same way you do sleep mode, by doing the stop watch. Log the even in fit bit, not MFP, and FitBit will block this event out as a manual adjustment. Clear as mud?
  • Guilty. Sushi is my vice! The nice thing about MFP is that the next day is a new day. If your train derails, just put it back on the track. You won't be perfect every day.
  • Bottom line- You've slowed you metabolism to a crawl. 1200 Calories is the minimum for a person that is resting all day and not doing much. I often see people in these forums say "I only eat 1200 calories per day". Hey, if I did that, I'd lose the will to live too, and I'd be grumpy as all get out to boot! You are…
  • Yes. I love the steak and portabello filled with creamed spinich....YUM!
  • i generally agree with what was said in the initial post, however, I would strongly recommend that even professional advice be taken with a grain of salt. The issue I have with medical studies is that most are correlations, and all of a sudden the media starts reporting a certain correlations as gospel (remember oat bran/…
  • Not exactly. Every body type is different. I would think it depends on your metobolic rate, weigh, height, gender, and consumption of other claories throughout the day.
  • Favorite is a simple 2 cups of Multigrain Cheerios w/ 1 cup of skim milk. Plus coffee of course.
  • IMHO, I would not go with this diet. MFP shows you that small changes can create a better lifestyle for you. I have been so impressed with what I never thought I could accomplish in 4 short months. As I approach my goal, I have slowed my weight loss to do a "soft landing" into maintenance. I venture to say another 6…
  • The best way to beat a cold is not to get one in the first place: - Take L-Lysine as a supplement. I take 1 pill daily and have not had a cold in over a year. - Take a multivitamin. -Wash your hands thoroughly and use a hand sanatizer. Note: Taking Vitamin C after a cold has hit is like taking out a fire insurance policy…
  • I'm a member of PETA- People Eating Tasty Animals. You cannot neglect that the high protein content of cooked animal flesh lead to the great advancement and evolution of the human mind. It is what seperated us from the monkeys. And...thinking lead to humanity's greatest creation- BEER. And come to think of it, beer goes…
  • I reckon that I am okay so long as I stay away from the fruit cake. That stuff is absolutely the worst food you could possibly eat. It has diabetes and heart disease written all over it. Ummm....Yummy diabetes! In any case, I plan on hitting the Thanksgiving and Christmas foods like a sledgehammer, but I will also be…
  • Mine isn't because I let my body do the talking. I never see most of the people I am friends with on FB anyway. They probably don't give a rip either way.
  • Get a bottle of L-Lysine. It is a supplement. A lot of folks tell you citrus for vitamin C, but if you are already infected, or have this secondarily to a cold, it is too late. Lysine helps build the immune system. I pop one a day with my multi vitamin and have not gotten sick at all this fall. I live by it. For sinus…
  • LMAO!
  • Pace Medium Picante
  • That gave me a chuckle! I am a father of three: A boy and 2 girls. Sometimes it is the small stuff that makes us realize where we are at in life. You'll do great! I love the app as well, and I have lost 10 lbs. in a month and a half. You will certainly feel better and probably start looking like the "King" as well.
  • Sodium intake coupled with your cycle can cause this. My wife has similar issues. Try to limit your weigh in to once a week + or - 2 lbs. of fluctuation any given day or two is normal as well. Also, I don't subscribe to the fact that you are "starving" yourself, but agree with others that you should be taking in close to…
  • Not recommended, but you can do the cabbage soup diet. The key here is no protein or carbs, just vitamins. When you start eating "normally" again though, the weight will likely come back before you start slowly losing again.
  • Get back on as soon as possible. It is easy to get discouraged, but think how much better you feel during and after your exercise. You can certainly do it. It took years for you to put that weight on, and it will not come off overnight. In time though, it will. Just stick with it.
