Turkey Lettuce Wraps -- measurements aren't exact, it's more of a "little of this, some of that". 1 onion chopped 4 cloves garlic, chopped 2 T fresh ginger, chopped 1 lb ground turkey Hoisin sauce, 3/4 jar (depend on how "saucy" you want it) 1 bell pepper chopped 1 cup carrots shredded 1 bag TJ shredded cabbage cilantro,…

Muscle does NOT weight more than fat. A pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of dirt. Just sayin.....

Ummmm...why not ask the dietician? From what I can remember, the RMR is what it takes your body just to exist....like if you were laying in bed all day. On top of that, you have your "activity" counts -- and this all depends on how active you are on a day-to-day basis. Someone who delivers packages for brown santa would…

It's fairly inexpensive to get your clothes taken in by a decent tailor. So don't stress if it's over your Mom's sewing skills. :-)

Just re-read this... You'll always have different calorie readings for the same exercise (taken on different days). It all depends on how hard you were working, and for how long. It will be impossible for your to recreate EXACTLY the same HR each and every day. I get around this by adjusting the minutes. Example: my HRM…

It's really hard to get a "to the exact calorie" in a database. Everybody is different. For example, if you are a 28 year old healthy fit male taking a SPIN class, you'll burn more calories than me (a moderately overweight, somewhat fit 49 year old woman). And putting in exercise to the SECOND? Why do you think you need to…

It's only 3 miles...and in reality, the worst that will happen is that your shins will hurt after the race. If you are REALLY want to do the race, then do it. However, AFTER the race, you need to work on your running technique/training program so that you can correct your shin splint problem.

Fresh fruit is always a great way to transform yogurt. I'm pretty much addicted to Greek yogurt these days...eat it for breakfast or as an afternoon snack (sometimes both!)

No, you don't burn more calories. You might SWEAT more, and it can certainly help your muscles to be a tad bit more limber.

Nice Job. I should take come pictures myself....it's a great reminder of where you started, and how far you've come. Keep up the good work!

You can't be serious.....you think that by sitting in a cold room you're going to burn more calories -- to the extent that you'll notice it at a weigh in? As others have said, the benefits are extremely minimal (for weight loss). However, you WILL save money by lowering your heating costs. Personally I keep the house on…

You're absolutely correct -- protein does help with feeling fuller. However eating too cheese and nuts (to get the protein) also provides too much fat and lot's of calories (for the little bit of "space" in the stomach it takes up). So while it's great to eat a LITTLE bit of cheese and nuts as a SNACK, portion control is…

I'm not a nutritionist, but at a glance, I think you need to add more greens and veggies to your diet. I'd also start tracking the FIBER (I think it's a setting) -- the more you eat the more "full" you'll feel. Cut out the cheese and nuts, those are high-fat, high calorie, and don't fill you up very much. (maybe a small…

Ziggy, if your doctor won't talk to you about the test results, GET A NEW DOCTOR! You are your best advocate .. make sure that YOU understand everything that is going on with your body. You deserve nothing less. Good Luck!

poustotah: You are mistaken. If someone truly has Hashimoto's then there is no way to "reboot" their system. They have an autoimmune disorder that attacks the thyroid, rendering it useless. In my case, my thyroid has shriveled up, and is about 10% of normal size. It's not something that will ever grow back -- I will be on…

I'm not a doctor, but I do suffer from Hashimoto's -- so I know a little about the numbers. Yours seem to be in the fairly "normal" range. For example: When I was diagnosed, my TSH was 28 (very hypo). Oh, if your doctor won't sit with you and explain the tests and the numbers, find another doctor.
