  • I use Skinnytaste, Eating Well, Ellie Krieger @ http://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/healthy-appetite-with-ellie-krieger/recipes.html
  • I can second a ton of the suggestions already posted. I am in medical school currently, so time and money are generally slim. As stated above, crockpot-beans-precooked chickens. Beans are super cost effective and even better if you buy them dried versus canned. Try to cook out of a crockpot in bulk and freeze the leftovers…
  • Indian spiced lentil and lamb soup- YUM! and super good for you - http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/indian-spiced-lentils-lamb
  • I actually never put yogurt in my smoothies! Not sure if its because I have a dairy allergy or because I never thought it needed it. My favorite is actually super simple: 1/2 large banana 1.5 tbsp Better N Butter Peanut Butter from trader joes 1 cup Vanilla Coconut Almond Milk few dark chocolate chips 4 icecubes Its like…
  • Thanks for all the well wishes and great ideas!!
  • You may want to try and pick up a cookbook from the bookstore or your library. My family has always cooked everything from scratch but it was a little difficult for my husband as he didnt come from a family of cooks. His favorite health conscious/amazing eats cookbook is by Ellie Krieger. Lucky for you, you can basically…
  • Homemade veggie and ricotta/meat and ricotta ravioli Zucchini wraps...similar to manicotti but without the pasta http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes_menus/recipe_slideshows/healthy_ricotta_recipes?slide=1#leaderboardad
  • I absolutely do not have children but I have thought about this quite often. I think that talking about weight with a younger person always isnt the best approach. For me, it gave food a negative tone. When I have children, I feel that I will just need to be the best example of the perks of healthy choices...eating whole…
  • Haha make your husband cook for himself! Obviously, so many people hear the word healthy and stick their nose up right away. I would try using the SKINNYTASTE.COM website. It has amazing swaps of normal food. If he really has an issue than I truly would suggest that he has to make his own meals!
  • mushrooms: -dairy free cheese (dairy allergy here) -spinach -onion -garlic -breadcrumbs or panko -chopped mushroom stems -salt, pepper, oregano ...my uncle adds a little bit of sausage peppers: -rice -ground meat -chopped celery, carrot, onion -garlic -cheese -salt, pepper, oregano -homemade marinara -you can also make a…
  • Totally felt the need to pipe in again...some of the things I do to stay organized: 1. Make rice for the week with a rice maker: perfect sidedish, or you can make a fried rice, crack a poached egg on top with grilled veggies, make a south of the border wrap using lettuce leaves as the wrap (this way it isn't too carby) 2.…
  • I second the eating 'clean' method. It is completely manageable and you will notice a major change in the way your body looks and feels.
  • Abs always come through on me when my diet remains fairly clean.
  • I generally don't drink diet sodas, pretty much any soda for that matter. But, sometimes, as in rarely, I get a hankering for a Diet Coke. The only time I ever have it is at the movie theatre...small diet coke does the trick.
  • Totally meant to post this too but I forgot. I will also make this and have it for lunch during the week. Maybe I will add some ground turkey if I am feeling adventurous :) Ingredients: 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, divided 1 medium onion, finely sliced (about 1 cup) 1 stalk celery, diced (about 1/2 cup) 6 medium cloves…
  • Nice post! I have been using SKINNYTASTE much more frequently and many of my recipes for the week will come from that. Considering its only my husband and myself, we generally make the full batch and freeze whatever is left or have leftovers throughout the week. For lunch, i generally stick with salads or leftovers.…

  • Other than different stocks (I am obsessed), I love Stuffed Artichokes in the pressure cooker!
  • fruit and oats smoothie sounds delicious!
  • I made SKINNYTASTE Stuffed Pepper Soup but instead I subbed ground turkey for beef and added oregano, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, and dried basil to the pot. I also topped it with Veggie Shreds "mozzarella cheese". It was delicious, highly recommend!
  • I have the same issue. I make 99 percent of my food from scratch and I never know how to calculate stocks since technically you didnt eat the meat or the vegetables...hopefully someone has a good explanation.
  • There never will be an 'exact weight' since as you said it yourself, it fluctuates throughout the day. If you moved your scale to the other side of the house, there is a good chance that the number would be different. For me, I just count any changes over a weekly period. So I will weigh myself and think about the numbers…
