  • Yeah I walk like John Wayne sometimes. Spandex is a good choice. I wear underarmor tight fitting underwear. • you have to admit they have done some amazing things with diet and exercise without resorting to medications and surgery. the weight is gone. now keeping it off can be a problem. I am sure they do things that or not shown on tv. It has inspired many people to lose weight and get healthy through good old fashion diet and…
  • I have posted on this topic in the past and I agree with not re eating all of your exercise calories. I was hoping someone high up in MFP could point to some scientific evidence for the way MFP does it. I agree don't go to low but you don't need to eat it all back. the basic equation is calories in vs calories out.…
  • I don't have a good answer but one thing I would do is use a tape measure and every two weeks take a measurement of the middle around the arm. keep a record of this. with the weights you are using you are unlikely to gain mass. watch the trend of the measurements. good luck
  • good work on school mike. in know today was your long day. got my run intoday on top of p90x. felt good. I am much weaker and slower. that shoulder surg really killed my upper body strength. I am also slow. haha but I always was. for Fu: if he is doing insanity I would expect that the would have seen more movement on the…
  • good work everyone mike. the thing with the books sucks damn. such a rip off. you will have a hard time losing with a low level of body fat. you will have to crank up the cardio. Fu. it is hard to tell the difference between muscle gained and fat lost. Liz is correct and the only way to tell is to do a good fat analysis…

  • everyone is different. the wait 30 minutes to 1 hour is because once you start exercising your body diverts blood flow from your stomach which it needs for digestion and moves it more to your muscles. you can get stomach cramps or even diarrhea. iron man triathletes and ultra runners have to learn to eat while exercising.…

  • thanks for helping me set up the lat pull down. I kicked butt in cardio today. getting back in form. makes up for slacking yesterday
  • k2d4p. congrats. you did not harm your body. marathoners, triatholetes and high altitude climbers will routinely burn crazy amounts of calories. the calculations are close to what should have burned. during intense exercise especially at altitude you lose your appetite. I have climbed a couple high altitude mountains and…
  • any chance you can come by before next Monday to bring that lat pulldown in
  • to get e free shirt I think they will want to see that you purchased the program. hahaha. I will see with Marie. maybe we will do 5 weeks of phase 1. then we will all be on board together. • I am a critical care physician and my undergrad was kinesiology. hope we were able to help.
  • you can do card everyday but just have to be cardio of overtraining. you could just pick one day out of the week to do a very light spin on the bike or walk on a treadmill at low speed. keep your self moving. if you are feeling very tired all the time, have a hRd time exercising at the same level as a couple days prior or…
  • underwater water body fat testing is the gold standard followed by caliper test by a trained and experienced professional the scales and and handheld devices are good for following a trend but can be very inaccurate. How was your BF tested? usually the BF is more accurate and the BMI is high because BMI does not take into…

I have a long way to go. 40 pounds but I know I can do it. I am 225. I want to get to 185 and be ripped. I have a few physical goals. run 5 k under 25 by April with my wife.…
  • I would also suggest doing full body three days a week as a beginner. your body also only needs 2 days to repair. there r different strategies for just getting tone and trying to "bulk up". three days a week will get your muscles and tendons use to the new routine while toning and building strength.
  • I have had a history of running injuries in the past in my knees. I have always wanted to run far but could not get past 5 miles without having to ice my knees after a run and take NSAIDS before and after a run. I read born to run and it was a great book. It made a lot of good arguments and made we want to go out and run…
  • no metabolic testing shows that at different intensities of exercise utilizes different metabolic pathays. at elevated levels your body is unable to process fat in a timely manner. your body will shift to glycogen. since you will primarily use glycogen that source will be used at least for the first 60 to 90 minutes. then…
