  • Where are you getting your supplements? Because vitamins and other nutritional supplements are not regulated by the FDA, if you are buying the cheap kind from the grocery store there may be a bunch of extra junk in there that isn't on the bottle, or the capsule itself, usually made from some kind of gelatin, may be…
  • From what I understand, vegetables and fruit, unprocessed meats, and whole grains. Pretty much the boringest foods you can think of...they are the best for you ;) I'm not sure if dairy is included, maybe if you can tolerate it.
  • Lifting weights has not affected my body fat % dramatically (my diet has also sucked since the semester started), but there is a big difference in the way I look and I personally think that is more important. I would recomment light weight training with high reps to anyone, it won't bulk you up. I started doing a class…
  • I am also struggling to accept that I will probably always be a little bigger than I would ideally like to be, but really, life should be about being healthy, not being skinny. So if you are within a healthy weight range than be happy that you are healthy! :) Instead of worrying about diet food to make me lose weight, it…
  • It could be water weight if you are close to starting your cycle. Plus, weight can fluctuate up to a couple of pounds with undigested food or if you are drinking more water than normal. The scale went up on me like 4 lbs one week and I freaked out, ate more because I was depressed, but the next week got back on the scale…
  • I need to vent too! I think my body may be "resisting" as well, but not sure (maybe I am just being lazy) - I'm a little afraid to check the scale right now though. I'm having an incredibly hard time staying at 1200 calories, I just feel hungry all the time! I've been exercising almost every day, even if it's just 20-30…
  • Any tall skinny fat girls out there? I probably should be doing this in the 'tall girls" group. Height: 5'10" SW: 160 CW:148 GW: 135 UGW: 130 (not even sure that's possible as I am pretty muscular. I'd rather be strong and fit than be a skeletor.)
  • There is also a "circuit training" option under cardio as well as strenght training. I think the calories burned in that category are more accurate if you are keeping your heart rate up continuously while doing different muscle groups.
  • What's your name? Camille. Where do you live? Grand Junction, Colorado. (on the other side of the hill from Denver) What are your food vices/ cheats? Alcohol. I love wine and hard cider...I've cut down, but sometimes after a hard day they are necessary, and my job SUCKS. Plus my fiancee and I like to go out on weekends and…
  • I have always been a big Nike girl. Especially since they came out with Nike+. Although they may not be the top-end running shoe I love my Lunarglides with Nike+. They are super squishy, not too heavy, and have better support than other Nikes. The Freeruns are super light, but are not as supportive. Plus they have pink…
  • Really good advice - explains many ways to help get off this plateau - I overeat if I come home from work a little hungry and am alone for a while. So I've made myself do something else right after work (like go to the gym) instead so I am not tempted. I have also tried eating a little something with protein before I leave…
  • As far as the headaches, everyone's body is different, and there are definitely several things that could cause them. It could be something like a "sugar hangover," which is basically dehydration; after all, alcohol turns in to sugar when processed. Also, the way your body metabolizes sugar involves your endocrine…
  • That is super awesome! Being healthy and active is more important than the number on the scale. You are an inspiration to me!
  • LOL! You are hardcore! I am totally saying that to the next guy who looks at me like I'm gross at the gym.
  • Bob's Red Mill has a GF bread mix that is pretty good. Not super hard to make, but kind of time-consuming. It is also pretty crubly, but good when toasted. The bad thing is there are like 200+ calories in a slice (it's really hard to make skinny slices, they fall apart), but I guess for a kiddo that's not too big a deal.
  • Oatmeal with milk and stevia is my regular weekday breakfast. It's fast and simple, and not having any sugar keeps me from becoming ravenous a few hours later, sometimes I throw in a little honey for extra flavor. It seems boring, but when I consistantly eat this I am more likely to make better choices the rest of the day…
  • I guess my Mom sweats a lot, so that makes sense. I will totally invest in some more towels and some sweat bands, that's a great idea! Thank you for the advice :)
  • Stretching is super important, especially after you work out. The more you don't stretch, the higher your risk for injury, and cramps are no fun either. I have to force myself to, but stretching after running has helped my back, knee, and even feet pain. My feet used to cramp really bad during and after running, but since…
  • This forum is making me so sad :( Everything else is getting smaller, I've been waiting for the thighs and butt to shrink too, but I am beginning to lose hope. I totally better start saving for leg liposuction!
  • Word. I am totally addicted to sugar too. I am gluten intolerant, and eat a lot of fruit and granola bars...hard to find GF on-the-go snacks. Anyway, I go over my sugar every day! So I am being more creative with food. I've cut sugar out before for brief periods of time on other diet plans, it's like caffeine...really only…
  • I would love to participate! I knowyou started yesterday, is it too late to join?
  • I read that article as well, and at first rather surprised by it, but in retrospect it makes sense. There is a general stigma against obese people -- logically -- obesity is gross. That's why we are all part of MFP isn't it? We were sick of being gross! So because of that, it is understandable that a man would see a woman…
  • Me too! Totally same thing. Running is def hard on the knees when you could still shed an extra 15 lbs or so. Other runner peeps have told me just to take it slow to not get injured -- and mix your running routine up with distance, sprints and fartleks, stairs and hills, etc. to challenge yourself. Also, I've been…
