I allow myself a little more food, your body is burning slightly more calories at this time. Even if that wasn't fact I'd probably still slightly indulge, it's that or crying or yelling at someone, haha. I always crave salt! Exercise can help with cramps and hormones, you could try that as well.

Fruits and vegetables actually do supply protein. Check out raw foodest and fruititarians websites. I'm sure they have some great info.

Calcium shouldn't be a problem if she includes dark leafy greens like kale, spinach and collards. Vitamins in general are not a large issue in a plant based diet besides B12 which I do recommend supplementing in some way. I get mine from enriched foods such as almond milk, soy yogurt and tofu.

I am being careful about the portions of sweet things I eat and making sure to log the calories. I feel like telling myself "no" is negative, but I feel really fantastic if I have a half portion of a sweetie and have enough will power to have that be enough.
