  • What is good for someone else wont neccesarily be any good for you. For you first pair you should really go to a proper running store where they will assess the way you run and recommend the right syle of shoe for your gait. It seems like an expensive thing to do but believe me it will save you injury problems from running…
  • I am in too. Need to get back to some serious exercise i July so this is great. 1st July 3.2m running. Total 3.2m
  • Weigh in this morning sees me under 200lbs for the first time in over two years. I lost 3 lbs this week and need to lose 3 more next week to hit my target of 196 before I go on holiday. Just 2 more pounds and I will be the lighest I have been since I was 15 years old, and that was almost 25 years ago!! Ran into work this…
  • Having a good week so far but have six pounds to lose in two weeks to hit my next target. Going on holiday camping on 15th August with my family and am determined to hit it by then.
  • Morning all. Weigh in this morning and 3lbs off so back down to 10lbs overall, happy with that but I have worked hard for it this week. That now leaves me needing to lose 6lbs over the next 2 weeks to hit my holiday target of 196lbs, tough call but I will give it a go.
  • What does a detox actually entail?
  • Morning all, managed to do 6 miles running last night so earnt a pudding and banked a few calories as well! I made some home made flour tortillas last night and for a first crack at it they weren't too bad at all, I also made some beetroot and sweet potato soup after my Mum gave me a load of fresh beetroot she didn't want.…
  • Really hungry this afternnon after eating my lunch before 10am this morning. It is supposed to be a rest day today but I only have 700 cals left for dinner so I am going to shoot out and do 5k after work. That will give me an extra 450 calories for pudding!
  • The fact that the link was to an article in The Daily Mail would automatically stop me from clicking it. Usual crap that I would expect to see in such a sensationalist rag.
  • 7.5 mile run to work = starting the day with an extra 1158 calories. Woohoo. It was a struggle getting out of bed this morning but I am glad I did now.
  • Great work Leanne and some impressive weight loss going on. I have gained 4lbs over the last couple of weeks but I was expecting at least 5-7 so I am happy with that. I had a 40 mile running race in Scotland on 17th July so I always spend a few days building up to it eating and then for a week after I just give my body…
  • Excellent, my wife was looking at that one for her first HM but it filled up pretty quickly and she didn't really want the pressure of running for a charity. The forecast for the weekend is looking favourable at the moment with lots of rain, my kind of running weather.
  • Well done on the 10k in the heat Erika, I really do struggle in this weather. I have a race in Scotland on Saturday and am really hoping for 'traditional' Scottish weather! Which HM are you doing in October?
  • What Lotus said. You are spending too much time worrying about what other people might think about your form. You are doing it the right way in building up from walking to running and even using a run/walk program will help. Have you tried going further than a mile at a reduced paced? This will give you the required…
  • Sorry to hear about your experience KP, as a parent to four children and someone who has had alcohol problems I am probably qualified on both counts! I haven't touched a drop for nearly 8 years now as I was never able to stop once I started drinking. My behaviour was appalling and I was hugely intolerant of all those…
  • Nice one Wendy, sub 9mm for 10 miles is a damn good pace. I always stuggle with eating after long runs and I really have to force calories down me sometimes, it is important that you get them down you though. It is the following days that I struggle when my body is craving high calorie foods. I have two long runs next…
  • Brilliant news Katie! Woke up to some good news this morning. Friday is weigh in day and I needed one pound to hit my first target one week ahead of schedule, I actually lost 3 to take me to 201 pounds and 12 off in 4 weeks!! Chuffed to bits with that one. Celebrated by getting my backside out of the house at 4:30am and…
  • Good luck with the 10K Erika, speed is really irrelevant, 6.2 miles is still a long way to run!
  • Nice work Lesley, and you can only be responsible for yourself. He will do something about it if and when he wants to.
  • Morning UK'ers. Rest day today after running 11 miles yesterday. I really need to work hard to keep my calories down on none running days as obviously I have no additional ones to eat up but I am also starving from yesterdays exertions. I think plenty of water will be the order of the day. Wish it was Friday so I could…
  • Shin splints can be a direct result of your running/walking gait (over pronation rolling in etc) but in general it is caused by doing too much exercise too quickly and by not allowing the muscles around the shin to build up slowly. It is a very common condition in runners who are trying to do too much too soon. Don't try…
  • Morning all, hope you don't mind me joining you from a very sunny Lincoln. Been on here just over 3 weeks and managed to shift 9lbs so far in that time. I do a lot of running but I also do lots of eating, I am trying to tone down teh latter and loggin here has certainly helped that. It is helping me also to know what I…

  • Thanks for your story Julie and welcome. It sounds like you have a good attitude towards getting the weight off and I really hope it works for you. I have found that honesty is the best policy in filling in your log each day, that way you can track it properly. It is only going to help you and it is only for you so make…
