These posts are depressing. I'm only 14 weeks and up 10 pounds already :(

Thanks everyone! I checked, and even being pregnant and/or adding the baby to my household, we still make several hundred a month too much for Medicaid. I will look into midwives and county programs. I do qualify for this program called "Medically Needy" or "share of cost" where I will pay a sort-of deductible for the…

Thanks for the encouragement! I am in a sort of queue position at my job where as soon as there is an opening, I will be promoted and will get really great state employee insurance. My husband has also been applying to lots of jobs that would provide insurance, so I'm hoping something gives.

Wow, everyone is so closed-minded! "Ew!" "I'd never do that" etc. Lots of women suffer from hirsutism that comes from hormonal imbalances. Some women are just genetically hairy. Not everyone can afford expensive dipilatories, prescription drugs and creams, or laser hair removal. Get over the differences in people and have…

Try making the cheese crisps. Get a bag of shredded cheese (doesn't really matter what kind) and put down a sheet of parchment paper (necessary) on a cookie sheet. Make little piles of shredded cheese as if you were making cookies, and bake for 8-10 minutes at 350. They're awesome.

BEER. Ugh just once though.

I was with my fiance all through college. Even though the relationship was largely over (for me), meeting someone new gave me the push I needed, and I moved out and gave the ring back, which was very difficult since guy 1 was a great, awesome, nice guy who was crazy about me, I just didn't feel the same. But now I'm…

I'm 5'8 and a very strong 160. I'd like to lose ten or fifteen more, but for my build, I'm not sure that's possible. My waist to hip ratio is good, I think that's a helpful measurement in deciding a goal. I've been in the same weight range (or heavier) since I was sixteen, so I could never imagine myself weighing 130 or…

We have a TV but it doesn't do much because we don't have cable. Sometimes we watch movies, but we are so busy that it is a treat. My husband watches sports games on a website he uses on the computer, or he watches games at sports bars or with friends. Cable is so expensive, and our complex requires that we use a certain…

We went to some therapy. We still don't fully trust each other, but it gets a tiny bit better each day. I was able to understand and forgive because I have been the cheater in the past.

Have a turkey burger patty (you can cook them on the stovetop in five minutes from frozen without thawing), an egg (scramble then microwave for 2:30 or so) a slice of pre-cooked bacon and some cheese. After the egg is done I scramble it up in the frying pan with the burger patty (you can use beef too, just about 100 more…

Love the Atikins bars. Currently on a Chocolate Hazelnut Bar kick...to me, tastes just like Rocher chocolates! I also like the PB granola bars, the peanut butter cups, and the apple crisp bars when I can find them. I find that other low-carb bars (or high protein that are deceivingly NOT low-carb) just don't taste good.

I found a bunch of great deals on my everyday items at the Dollar Tree today! LOL I am broke, so it was awesome! I used the money I saved to buy a giant, delicious salad for lunch :-) Maybe it will get even more awesome and my husband and I will win the $253 million lottery tonight!

I make sure I have my clothes ready, and I get up about 15-20 minutes before I want to workout. I know that just sounds like extra torture, but it gives me time to wake up, have a cup of tea, wash my face, etc. I still have morning workout problems but these two things have helped alot!

I know it's easy to roll your eyes at people who are saying that you look great and saying they wish they looked like you. Keep in mind, we are not experts and likely have little frame of reference for weight guessing. If the poll were, "how freaking hot am I?" you might have been more encouraged by the response. Keep it…

Counting carbs is a controversial topic on MFP, but it has a devoted following. Try checking out the low-carb group's forums. I can't always stick to it, but I'm a huge believer in the insulin factor!

I am concerned about the characterization of girls who choose not to date military men as "needy" or "clingy." I realize that it takes a lot of strength to deal with separation for any reason, but it's a conscious choice. At this point in my life, I'm ready for a family and I don't think the best interests of children are…

I cheat every weekend, Saturday and Sunday. I eat anything I want, often until I don't feel good so by Monday I'm ready to eat well again. For me, since I count carbs (try to) it's something like an unhealthy version of "carb cycling." I only weigh on Fridays because if I weighed myself right after, I'd probably freak out.…

I do, I have since I started low-carbing -- one or two days a week. I can't say whether I recommend it (other than for sanity) because I haven't tried going without doing it, and I have been stuck at the same weight for about three weeks now. Maybe look up some stuff on carb cycling, try it for a period of time. But if…

You look amazing! Such a change, you should be SO proud!

I was just checking out my charts today, and since I've been staying between 20-30 carbs, I am not generally even getting to my MFP-recommended 1200. When I stick to my carb count, I average around 1000 calories netted each day. I know that's low -- should be noted I also tend to burn about 200-300 calories each day with…

Thanks for the responses!

I absolutely am bottom heavy, and there's no secret to it -- you can exercise your hips and thighs by doing scissors and leg lifts and squats and so on for toning. But usually, fat is lost all over the body proportionally. So keep at it (bottom-heavy women need more cardio than anyone!) and you will start to feel it. Since…

I see.

This is smart-looking stuff but maybe I'm not-so-smart -- what's wrong with the 2007 study? Just that it hasn't been duplicated/published?

I'm looking for my "sweet spot" right now too having been on 20-25 carbs for 5 weeks. I'm adding in some more veggies/fruits but am hesitant to go higher than 35 at this time.

I'm interested, if this group isn't already full! Or, if so, feel free to friend me. Getting married May 6, 2012! Just under 20 pounds to shed.

I have Paragard (the hormone-free IUD) and I love it. I had been on the pill for years and decided to give my body a break from the hormones, which are also in Mirena, and which can cause weight changes. My period got heavier so I occasionally wonder whether I should have gone with Mirena instead, but I am generally…
