I am so glad to have found this group -- thanks Mirandamom for telling me about it! :) I'm trying to set my calorie goal as well. I just found out I'm pregnant -- I'm 4 weeks. I lift and I've supposedly been eating at a deficit, although I haven't lost weight in a long time. I'm 5'9" and I've been eating 1800 and not…

Bump! I just found out I'm pregnant and I would love a little comfort that I can keep up with my weight lifting without risking a miscarriage... any other ladies out there keep up with heavy squats, deadlifts, step ups, etc. and come out okay? Thanks for your input!

AMAZING. Great job! You look very fit and strong.

I just did a 6 week reset and I gained about 3 pounds. I gained that over the course of about 4 weeks, then I finally stabilized at the weight I'm at now for 2 weeks and today I'm starting a cut again. So yes, I've been there. I am there now! I suppose my advice to you would be to add calories very slowly. Start where you…

I would recommend doing exercises that stretch as well as work the muscles, like yoga and pilates, in conjunction with body weight bearing exercises like pushups, pull ups, dips. People will argue with you all day about whether it is possible, but I agree with you that people are just built differently and some are more…

Yes, at some point MFP will recommend a calorie deficit below your BMR. It happens when you are close to your goal weight. Personally I don't lose weight when I eat net calories below BMR. I would recommend making your goal less than 1 pound a week so that your net calorie goal does not dip below BMR. Also... check out…

I agree with this. No need to go overboard on the protein. And I agree with OP that eating real food is the priority. And to add my own two cents... I don't like drinking my calories (unless it has alcohol in it!) ;)

I used to work out with a trainer once every other week and I would write down the work out and do it 3-4 times per week until I met with him again. After a while, he would write it out for me beforehand to save time during the workout. I felt it helped me get the most bang for my buck. I think it is great, especially if…

I'm 5'9" and have always been most comfortable between 155 and160. (I'm now 157 and a size 10.) I'm trying to break out of this weight range and get down to 145 and a size 6-8. My body is reeeeaally resisting it so we'll see what happens!

Yep. Running. It's my time to myself, my time outside, my time for deep breathing, and it really sets me up nicely with endorphins and it burns enough calories that I can have treats (so good for mental health). I am totally addicted and I love it. If I couldn't run, though, I would do something else. There are so many…

I'm 5'9" and 157 pounds with a fairly athletic/muscular medium build. I wear a size 10. My goal is 145 pounds and I'd love to fit size 6-8.

Yep.

Me too, plus yoga.

I'm with you. After nursing for a year, when my boobs on a daily basis would inflate to DDDs and deflate to Ds depending on how full of milk they were, my boobs will never be the same! But I ran through all that and I'm still running today. My advice to you is to get a great bra. There are bras out there that will stop the…

Huh. Never heard of the bun/scalp rinse... I'll have to try that. Thanks!

HAHA this is hilarious and totally sounds like something I would do.

Thanks for the suggestions!! I agree long hair is a PITA. Does anyone use a hair wrap to wick sweat away? I saw the "save your do" wrap online and wondered if it is helpful...

I'm worried about this as well. I'm used to having plenty to drink, and then eating whatever I want... and dealing with the 5 lbs gain every january! Not this year! Not if I can help it... I think my plan is, similar to every day, to fill up on fruits and veggies, keep exercising, and stay away (as much as possible) from…
