Thanks everyone - And Dave - I don't know why I thought it was an inaugural. I thought I read that somewhere. OK - I'm in!

LMAO!

I love the photographic step by step. Nice job Doug. And you have a winning smile!

Same here. 'm 5'7 and recently got down to the mid 120's. I looked awful and my friends were also worried about me. Plus i'm older and the loss made my skin look very wrinkled. My sweet spot seems to be the low to mid 130's.

What everyone else said. You're growing a human being. That is your priority. I lost 25 pounds the day after birth! Go easy on yourself. It will all be OK.

I run a short recovery run the day after a long run. A running friend advised me that's it's good for distance runners to run on tired legs. I do not run at race pace. Just a causal 2-3 miler to losen up the legs. Then I run my usual 6 at training pace the day after my recovery. I would try both methods and do what works…

Are you running Long Beach? There's plenty of walkers. You won't be last. If you are running LB, you might consider training with AREC or Sole Runners. They both have good programs and are very inexpensive (AREC's is free with a club memebership) I'm running Long Beach. I'm a Long Beach Beach Bum. This will be my 5th year…

Wait...you're running 12 miles at under 6 minutes a mile? 12 miles divided by 70 minutes? That's close to world record territory. I find that amazing.

I'm almost 5'7 and weigh between 129 and 131. When I was in the low 140's, my half time was around 2:20-2:25 Since losing over 10 pounds, my time has dropped to 2:05-2:10 So yes, for me, I'm positive the extra weight affected my race times.

My last pair were about $100 on sale with a coupon. But they were the outdated model (Kayano 19) and on sale because the newer model had just hit the shelves (Kayano 20). The 20's were $170.

I get up at 4:45-5AM. It's hard at first, but once the habit is formed, it becomes second nature. You can pop in a DVD and work out at home or go for a quick 3 mile run around the neighborhood.. It's the only time I can get it done. I don't have the energy after work and that's really my family time anyways.

I think that's more of what I mean. I like to use them a time or two before an actual race.
-
Another quick piece of advice....if you buy new shoes today, DO NOT wear them for your race tomorrow. You should break them in beforehand.
-
I had a medium sized one on Sunday and it was 305 grams. It was about 3" x 5". Hope that helps.

In for the run. I ran 125.3 last month. Going to try to beat that in April.
-
Final total: Run - 125.3 Bike - 9.53 Walk - 25 Total - 159.83
-
Are you logging EVERYTHING you eat? I work out 7 days a week between 30 minutes and 2 plus hours, with maybe 1-2 rest days a month. If i'm not honestly logging everything, I can easily not lose weight (a bite here and a bite there adds up). It's only when I started logging every morsel that went into my mouth that I was…
-
Checking in Run - 67.3 Bike - 5.53 Walk - 16 (walk the dog a mile a day) Total 88.83
-
Oh, I can join in. Month to date: Running - 19.7 miles Cycling - 6 miles Walking (dog) - 5 miles Total 30.7 89.3 to go.
-
I just lost 10 pounds in 8 weeks averaging almost 1900 calories a day.
-
You sound fun!
-
Bump. I'm in! Perfect recovery after a 20 mile run!
-
First and formost, I pack my running shoes and make sure to hit the hotel gym, even if it's a 30 minute walk on the dreadmill. I also pack a ton of snack bars (luna bars, clif bars, whatever) and nuts so I have something fairly healthy on hand if I get hungry or for breakfast (why do they always have pastries or donuts for…

How many calories are you eating? Are you working out and eating back your exercise calories? For today, go for a brisk walk for 30 minutes. That'll give you another 100.
-
You can do it! I started getting serious about my weight and health 5 years ago at the age of 45. I'm now faster, stronger and healthier than i've ever been in my life and only getting better Welcome. Friend me if you want.

If you have a 200 calorie deficit per day, it will take you approximately 17 days to lose one pound. Sounds like you're on the right track. Just keep at it and be patient.
-
I have 3-4 snack periods a day (well, in reality, I eat all day long, call it what you will), each averaging around 200 calories. I've been averaging just under 1900 calories a day and burn on average 500 calories a day.

I wasn't shocked so much by the calories as by the size of an ounce of cheese. So small! Doesn't keep me from eating it though :-)
