I dont want or need to argue with you, i have seen you have given some great advice on other threads! back to what the thread was about tho the lady wants to improve her marathon time, she isnt Elite I repeat isnt ELITE so can we please stop with what the elites are doing! we can learn from them yes!! she is at the moment…

This is the thing, the pair of you refuse to believe there is another way to train! I never do more than 40/45m per week! the results I see above are just standard lowering of pb,s I would expect from any runner running 40+ miles a week for a few years! how do you both know any different if you havent tried another way to…
-
And your still +20 for a 5k? :-(
-
oh should I up my miles to 60 a week and that will make me fast!? thats BS
-
Sorry to have hijacked the thread but being told to up your mileage by 50% is plain bad advice! for one you will put yourself at all sorts of risk of injury! any experienced runner knows this so why scottb81 has told you this is beyond me if he has experience! Lydiard is just one coach, there are lots more who would have…
-
Utter crap! if you cant learn to run fast you will never run faster end of!
-
You have just contradicted yourself! way too many variables! Either way its poor advice to tell a newbie runner to up there milage to 60+ a week to improve times! what about intervals, what about tempo runs, you yourself have picked out one variable and said go and do that like its gospel!
-
So you are telling me someone who runs 60 miles a week will run a quicker marathon than those that do 40 miles per week?
-
please please let me know how milage has anything to do with predicting performance?
-
Really?????????????????
-
Sounds like the belt needs tightening a little, usually a couple of screws at the end of the treadmill just need half a turn
-
I always weigh in after a run, as long as you stick to doing that its not cheating! so next week weigh in after your run again not before!
-
Wrapping up that warm sounds good, i would also recommend a thorough warmup before you head out of the door, im talking get an actual sweat on before going outside! this would/should keep you warmer and minimise any risk of injury! so you can hit the road/trails and head off at almost full speed for the session!
-
Brilliant running well done you!!! :-)
-
Get yourself booked into a few 10k races, do a race specific plan and also head to your local parkrun as you will find many helpful people! http://www.parkrun.org.uk/

stretch strengthen and this exercise helped me loads http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE7uUVhMVkQ , no running for a few weeks also
-
Your not a failure until you quit! you have lost 100lbs before you can do it again! be a winner because they never quit!
-
I couldnt agree more, you could save yourself alot more than a few $$$$$

I only ever use 1 mile = 100 calories
-
Im doing Brighton the week before! have you done a marathon before?
-
Dont concetntrate on pace just yet, make sure you can hold a conversation with yourself, if you cant your going to fast!, pace can wait till after the c25k
-
just bumping, ive triedthem all but ON is the best
-
Join a running club and do it with a group if your concerned :-)
-
Until you improve your distance it will be hard for you to improve your pace! your 5k pace will naturally improve when your running regular 5/6/7 mile runs! but if you really just want to improve your 5k pace quickly then try 8x400 meter runs at just under your 5k pace with 200 metre walking breaks, please do warm up…
-
Its really easy to get started with c25k so try and start there ,9 weeks and you will be running 3miles/5k -- OP fab running!
