  • 1. Now I know what to yell when teenage son is showering! 2. Any chance you're from NE PA? I used to live in West Pittston and did some consulting work at the Polish National Union in Scranton! Also, nice job on the race!
  • Just checking in with no new miles to report because my stupid Achilles is acting up. The first time I got into running years ago, I had the same issue. This time it's only on one foot rather than both, so I guess that's good. I did a short run of 2ish miles on Wednesday and when I run, it doesn't hurt, but then in the…
  • These are fantastic!! I need the one about not hogging the shampoo because I don't know how my kids manage to go through a whole bottle of shampoo in like a week. You don't have THAT much hair, child.
  • September Goal: 60 miles 9/1 -- 3 miles 9/3 -- 3.84 miles 9/4 -- walked 5 miles at King's Dominion 9/6 -- 2.3 miles 9/8 -- 3 awful miles 9/10 -- walked 6.5 miles at King's Dominion 9/11 -- 4.5 miles Total so far -- 28.14 (yes, I'm counting those days of walking!) I told my daughter that the bad run the other day meant that…
  • If you bought those based on the rec from the running store, you should be able to take them back and try something else. They don't want you to be in pain! I prefer Brooks personally. I tried Asics and found they hit my Achilles in a weird way that hurts, and I tried Mizuno and just didn't like them. I've gone from the…
  • I lost 10 lb. over the last 6 weeks and just gained it back looking at this amazing food. :D
  • I'm so happy to have someone else where I am! WE WILL GET THERE!!
  • You can totally get back to that!! I'm planning to move to training for a half that I want to do in the spring and I'm so excited because it's my favorite distance. I just hate the phase between sitting on my butt (which I did successfully during the whole pandemic) and being able to run long distances.
  • Hey @lou2you2, welcome! My goal this month is 60 miles too! I'm just getting back into running after a couple of years off. So far: 9/1 -- 3 miles 9/3 -- 3.84 miles 9/4 -- walked 5 miles at King's Dominion 9/6 -- 2.3 miles 13ish miles out of 60 for the month. I have a feeling I'll be well over due to various plans for the…
  • I had to go look at your route on Google Maps and it looks so lovely with all the houses and also being able to see the water. It's such a cute area! I love thinking about running in different places than home.
  • My goal for September is 60 miles. I don't want to overdo it since I'm still easing back into running. Yesterday, my girls and I did almost 4 miles. I didn't want to do too much because of the 8 year old, but they both wanted to go to the reservoir. We all felt great about it. Then this morning, the engine light was on in…
  • I love seeing your posts because I imagine this route has to be amazing! You're probably totally used to it but to me, it seems so cool to be able to run through London.
  • Four of them are adults, so it's really not that challenging! One is a 15 year old that I never see so it's like I only have 3 kids at this point. :D I've found that running is REALLY good for my mental health so I've made it a priority now, and having that time with the girls -- when their faces aren't glued to some…
  • I've been continuing with the C25K program and my 10 year old has been accompanying me. It started as just me taking kids along so I could get a quick run in and then she decided she really likes it. I got her some decent running shoes so she can baby those feet early. Saturday, we decided to do a "long" run. We did the…
  • This morning I was out super early to do SAG for our local half marathon training team. Watching people run by got me excited to run when I got home. I took my 10 year old daughter and found she was great for keeping my pace up a bit and keeping me going. She's been asking to go run with me for a while and I'm going to…
  • So true. I'd like to have one of those magic running wands! At least this time I know what waits for me down the road. The first time I did C25K, I had absolutely no idea.
  • I appreciate the welcomes! Yesterday I put off running til the early evening because it's just been so hot and muggy here. I'm glad that I forced myself to do it rather than putting it off to today (because then there's a chance I'd put it off til tomorrow again and you know how that goes). It really sucks trying to get…
  • Hi all -- I'm going to jump into this thread because I'm finally getting back to running. After a lifetime of thinking I didn't like running, about 10 years ago, I decided to give it a shot as a "cheap" way to exercise. A few years ago, I stopped and then life and Covid happened but I kept thinking I needed to go back to…

  • The one with the butterfly was just a butterfly by itself so that was reworked and the other stuff was added. The blue and purple roses covered a dolphin. Next month, the tattooist is covering the old lower back piece with 3 roses plus leaves and curlicues. And then she'll rework the tat on my inner ankle and then go back…
  • As of tomorrow, I've been married for 6 years but together 11. I've been telling my husband I want a divorce since March 2015. We have 4 awesome kids so of course I don't think divorce is preferable but I asked for what I needed many times and was ignored. Our relationship lacks intimacy -- both emotional closeness and…
  • I have 5 tats -- the Scorpio sign with a rose on my ankle, a yin yang with tribal pattern on my lower back, a dolphin on my hip, a butterfly on my chest and a stick figure triathlon thing on my wrist. I'm having the butterfly reworked next week to add a rosebud and vines and perk up the butterfly. After that, the dolphin…
  • I'll still go out and ride in the nasty humidity but for winter, I'm getting this so I can ride in my living room: https://www.amazon.com/Nashbar-Reduced-Radius-Rollers/dp/B004ZZH2N4/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1473699847&sr=8-5&keywords=bike+roller
  • WEAR A HELMET. I'm sure there is someone who loves you and would be devastated if this was worse. Be a rebel by not taking your daily vitamin every day. (I'm really sorry to lecture you since I'm a total stranger. I can't help myself.)
  • We need a club. My spouse invariably will buy cookies/candies, etc. if I say I want to lose any weight/eat better/cut out sugar (my major weakness). I don't think he realizes he does it, either.
  • @ mountman2012 You need this shirt: http://www.snorgtees.com/free-shrugs
  • Sure. I have little shame.
  • I've had migraines for almost 25 years and I use Imitrex when I get a headache. I tried Topomax several years ago and it didn't work for me. I had the tingling in my fingers and my migraine frequency wasn't decreased. I stopped taking it, but have talked to other people that it worked great for. If migraines make you…

  • I'd pick up the tab on a date, no problem, just like I pick up the lunch tab for friends from time to time. I like doing nice things for other people.

  • I think so, too. I think a lot of other couples -- the ones that are only bored or a little unhappy -- treat their relationship like a business relationship. I recognize that a relationship IS work. I just get involved with people that don't want to put the time in.
