Butter and mayo---sometimes it doesn't even weigh 0.2 oz, I was saying .5 Tbls

I'm a Perrier lover--just plain no flavor.

I'm going to really show my age...Horn and Hardart mac and cheese and their rice pudding--from the automat. I found several recipes but it still isn't the same. I second original Twinkies--and chocolate Tastykakes with the wax paper wrapper. And the original Tastypies. And something has changed in the taste of P&P loaf--it…

I also outgrew old school--pushing 70 I learned that no pain no gain just leads to too much pain and then really no gain. I was running 3-5 miles at 65, lifting weights feeling great--then a series of injuries ("overuse injuries") were a wake-up call. I still have all my original parts and plan to stay sensibly active for…

I hate that when grill a burger it can't be my burger of the past--6oz of 80% beef, blue cheese, lettuce tomato, onion, mayo, ketsup, mustard and relish with a side of both potato and macaroni salad. That is what I want...what I really really want. (and please don't give the friendly advice to fit it into my calories...or…

I did this wearing a Polar HRM and was surprised to see that in my case the calories burned was almost the same. That was just what I saw on one day when I ran one way and walked back (after a picnic break)

This happens to me too--I hit a "set point" stay around there for 20 days or so then get a whoosh of two or three pounds. Good job --nice to hear of another couple getting healthy together.

Wonderful--so happy for you

Wisdom is to keep your diet/fitness goals to yourself. If you don't mention what you are doing nobody can make comments, Same with eating out--if you don't make a big production over what you will or will not eat nobody will notice.

I have an old school scale with a big dial. I switched to this instead of the digital scale because I like to put a piece of tape on each mini-goal. When I hit the tape on three days I record the weight. I'm on "the last five pounds" and when I hit goal I will draw a "red line" on the scale (I do have a red line at obese)…

I agree with 88olds. Don't make a big deal about it--don't say you are trying to lose weight. You already shared this and got a negative reaction. Just make small changes. I never understand why people complain that friends and family have opinions about their weight loss--when you open the door to those opinions by…

Just cook what you want--if someone who is older than 12 doesn't like it then they can fix something for themselves--and if the person is 12 or younger be a grownup and tell them to eat their dinner. I never understand what is meant by "cooking healthier" Do people always just cook hot dogs and never have a vegetable or…

Maintenance is a range. You decide the goal range--how many pounds that range will be before you reach your scream weight. You will always fluctuate up and down several pounds.
-
I hate that "diet" anything is not really as good as the original.

I hate that I feel I should not let people know that I'm losing weight. I fudge by saying that I'm walking a lot more--just toning up, etc. I've lost 35 lbs with steady calorie counting--but I don't want to discuss weight because I gained it back last time. So this weekend we're meeting family down the shore and I know I…

Since you are going to see your PCP in a few weeks just mention that you want to drop to ...whatever goal weight you have in mind. See what he/she says. Better than asking on an online forum where people don't know what is healthy for you. Then follow the professional advice. Do take a hard look at what is required to…

I picked my goal weight based on what my maintenance calories would be. At my age and height my calories would be 1370 at the highest BMI healthy point --- and I know I only burn between 100-200 cal per day when I exercise. So my ideal weight is overweight --- at a calorie point that I know I will be able to live with and…

Great job--don't you love those milestones!!!

Wonderful job!!!

I think this is a NSV. The other day my friend (who I haven't seen for awhile commented on my new haircut. Now I've had the same cut for years...and then I looked in a mirror and realized that the cut looks better because my face has changed. Yes I'm old (69) and have wrinkles but at least my hair looks good!

Thank you for such an honest post. The fact that those of us who have been obese in the past and lost the weight-and are now back to losing weight again does mean that we do have to adopt a lifestyle and mindset that is different from people who have always been thin. SophNewts post only supports that (and she was "only"…

I'm just curious...do you just log in or do you completely fill every day out with detailed food and exercise? I know that we travel a lot in the winter and I probably won't log. If I just clicked on with a phone it wouldn't really count for me. (not judging--just wondering when I see massive streaks)

I'm also a weekly pre-planner. I plan my dinners for the week and prelog them. That most breakfasts are the same-except "BIG SUNDAY BREAKFAST", but I have my standard Sunday BB meals in "meals" so can log them in advance. I am retired now but I started making weekly meal plans when I was traveling a lot for work and I…

Have you asked if there is a scale in the kitchen? I would think that they would have one.

I just had my birthday--my husband makes me a fabulous cake (chocolate with whipped cream) . I enjoyed the cake for three days..gained two pounds and lost it again in a couple of days...and am back on track and down a pound in one week. I did plan by bookmarking my eating around THE CAKE, and walking a bit more. I am…

I have never had any comment--ever at my heaviest or lightest. I'm 69---I'm so glad I don't have to put up with the nonsense that seems to follow the youngins now days.

You will probably be very very busy on your wedding day, keeping on the move--greeting and talking with each and every guest. Nobody will notice that you are not drinking, they will just notice how beautiful and happy you are. Sometimes it is the type of wine that causes problems. I can drink a white wine without any…

That seat belts will hurt on long tips. I'm sort of short and we are road warriors (have a red Mustang convertible). I tend to enjoy doing most of the driving and our typical days will be 8+hours. Last trip I noticed my shoulder and arm hurting, then I kept having to shift the seat belt because it was hitting me right on…

Maybe suggest that junk food for her day care kids cold be replaced with more healthy snacks for the kids???

Sort of a mixed NSV. Two years ago I bought these cute shorts on sale that were too tight, I figured I would lose weight by snowbird season and they would be great. Well this spring they would not even zip up. Today I tried them on and they fit!!! The sad thing is I don't like them, they are Bermuda shorts and would fit…
