  • Finished my first week of p90x. Three and one-half more to go in July and 8 more to go before I start it over:). I do love this program and find it so beneficial to me.
  • Congratulations! on your success. You have done an amazing job. I agree with the others. Wear those beautiful rust breeches.
  • P90X - a whole-hearted effort to do it well.
  • I'm not a hunter person so you can find someone better than me to answer your question. Since there isn't another answer, though, I'll say this. If you read the hunter threads at coth, you do get the idea that conservative and in style are very important. Eventers wear purple and bright colors, but I do not get the…
  • A month ago apparently, I left. I could not successfully diet with the greasy food (delicious as it was) and schedule, so took a break. I did, however, do the stairs a lot, did the backwards up, did two steps up and down, ran them up and down so that was good. I got back to much more work than I expected so didn't address…
  • Your idea of doing the stairs for a break, maybe once (or more) in the morning and once (or more) in the afternoon may really produce fantastic results, both in fitness and in making you feel refreshed when you get back to your office.
  • hsmithway, in rereading your post, I think you are talking about going backwards off the step? like walking down the stairs backwards very slowly? That's a great one. I walk backwards on the treadmill. A friend said the pt told her to do that after her surgery. Thanks!
  • Thanks for the ideas. Those are both good ones. Just doing the stairs is great for my knees - I couldn't do two right now, or not many of two, but in a few days that should change. I'll try the slow downward movement - that could be tough, especially after a few sets. The knees - well, it's just the one now - are doing…
  • medifast - ish diet. That means I do some what I thought were well-thought-out cheats. Maybe I'll drop the modifications and just do it by the book. Well, never by the book as I simply can't do the 5 plus 1 and can really only fit in 4 plus 1.
  • Cool, Congratulations!
  • Like onawho said, this may work out the way it is supposed to. Sometime it is just hard to get motivated. I had a very hard time making myself start this time. I hope you feel better very soon.
  • Oh, I always accept friend requests. I do the food journal, sometimes the exercise one. My food journal is pretty dull and boring, though.
  • OK, I'm in for the 100 purshups. I may use this program or do it another way. I'll try this. Years ago my brother told me to do 100 pushups per day. He said it didn't matter how many I did at one time just so I completed the 100 (mostly the knee ones for me.) I did that for years. It was a very good thing. For this…
  • 100 non-knee pushups at one time with good form? lol I've got a bit of bravado about physical achievements, but I'm not too sure that's achievable for me. 100 knee pushups with good form - no problem. Those knees off the ground and staying straight and in good form.............. I looked at the chart - with knees down and…
  • I'll participate in the fitness challenges for February. I didn't start these in January really because I wanted to focus on legs - though I did do some pushups. I can add these challenges now as they are fun! One thing I'll do is prepare for the Bolder Boulder - but that's not until the end of May! so really too far out…
  • Yeah, I agree that the calorie counts for exercise are not what I expected them to be. I don't really count the calories burned anyway. I'm thinking that an hrm might be a good addition to the program. Thanks for the information about them. Skylark, you've attained great results! Onawho, that definitely helps - a great…
  • I was thinking of posting the question on the endurance board. Thankks!
  • Oh, so who is it going to be? Who is moving closer to that 10 pounds?!
  • Inches are better than pounds! and so is the fitness that you seem to be gaining. Congratualations! I have more important goals than pounds, so I'm not at ticked off as I sometimes am when there appears to be no relationship between food consumption and weight - so I've moved on a bit to the other goals. (But still…
  • I don't count any "work" that is physical. My brother told me years ago that it simply does not count in a true fitness program. Through the years, I have decided that he was right. Besides, that's something I do on a regular basis so isn't an added thing to promote fitness and use of calories in excess or my norm. There…
  • Well, it's not going to be me!! :)
  • Another piece of exercise equipment for small spaces is chin up bar that hangs over the door facing. There are also exercise bands that can work well if you order the strong ones. And, finally, there are some "gym" that fit over the door which are more complete. When you are finished with them, you just take them down and…
  • I wondered when you said it was 35C (95F). :) You specifically put the + in front or I would have assumed - lol. A workout series that I like is New York City Ballet Workout. I couldn't find my daughter's dvd's when she was out of the country so I looked online. All of them are on youtube.
  • That's a nice idea and thanks for the kick! :) I only have a handfull of friends on here, though, and they are all doing great! I'm the slacker:). I have maintained the miniscule amount I lost, but that amount - 10 percent - wasn't representative of the effort so I had to regroup. I'll just do pure medifast as soon as the…
  • You need to purchase some push up stands. Here is a link to some some I randomly chose to illustrate what I'm talking about. There are various styles and I'm sure variations in quality. http://www.****ssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11756525&010=SKU-10531201&cid=CSE:&cid=CSE:GooglePLAs&003=4239056 These will…
  • Nuts are a good, high-calorie snack. I will add a caveat to this, though. My brother is a big fan of peanut butter. When he was visiting last summer, he brought up the subject and said that there was some research indicating that peanuts have somthing quite negative associated with them. I don't remember the specifics but…
  • Last summer I really enjoyed the trampoline. As I was busy in fall and winter arrived (though it's been fantastic weather), I dropped it off and forgot about it. But, it's so much fun to jump on the big trampoline that I was thinking of getting a small one for indoors - so that's my suggestion a trampoline, either outside…
  • I decided to take a few days and eat a bit more just to see if there was anything to the idea that I was eating too little. I didn't gain much. if any - some fraction of a pound (and I tend to not count fractions either up or down). But it certainly didn't do anything beneficial. I really am more interested in strenght and…
  • I think if I found the right osteopath, I'd be able to get some answers. Doctors are great for people who are really sick, but I'm not. Anytime I've ever expressed concerns to a doctor about anything really, they've been dismissed. I just appear very healthy. Anyway, I appreciate the ideas and do not dismiss any of them. I…
  • My metabolism is a tricky thing, that's for sure. It has a mind of its own. The theory behind medifast is that eating frequent small amounts keeps the metabolism up. I think that's where I'm not being successful (losing half of my goal, and seeminly getting slower but that's not proven yet as those little slow downs happen…
