  • There are too many social obligations that require eating in a restaurant to just say you'll never eat in a restaurant again. I limit it to social occasions and not just because I don't feel like cooking, but I'm not going to turn into a hermit because of some extra sodium and calories. That would not be sustainable to me…
  • I'm the same way, although I have recently been able to bring something home and eat it the next day. For the most part I try to order something that is reasonable as a single meal for me since generally if it is in front of me I will struggle to stop eating, especially if I'm chatting and not really paying attention. If…
  • I don't know if it was you or another poster that posted this on one of the other apple cider vinegar threads but I tried it and my face is so happy! So thank you for sharing!
  • So much no. I am a grown woman I don't need anyone to scold me over my food choices. Are you also going to interrogate your entire friends list to be sure they are being completely honest and accurate? I mean, what if they're being "naughty" but not logging it?
  • I have been doing boneless, skinless thighs because it is easier to weigh and log, but I love the skin. I would cook 6-8 thighs and eat the skin off of all of them at once, because it wouldn't be as good the next day. Every day it becomes more clear how I ended up needing to lsoe weight. :p

  • I think using my scale has made me more comfortable in the situations where I am not in control of the food. I feel more confident in my guesstimating abilities and knowing I'm being as accurate as possible the rest of the week allows me to relax the one or two meals a week when I'm eating out.
  • When I started MyFitnessPal this time (yay second try!) I read all of the "plateau" and "Why am I not losing weight" threads and every single one of them told me to get a food scale and weigh my food. I don't think it matters so much while I'm at a one pound a week deficit, but I can see it mattering when I get down to…
  • I noticed that when I synced my phone (which counts my steps) I think it does it so it doesn't count the steps you do during the exercise period twice.
  • McDonald's cheeseburgers are a go-to for me when I'm having unsatisfactory bowel movements, maybe that's what did it.
  • I don't know the rate of change, but I just played with the TDEE calculator. I plugged in different weights and activity levels to see what it gave me for now and then as I get closer to goal. It was pretty exciting to see how much I could eat every day to maintain my goal weight.
  • This. I also decide the minimum I can eat of a treat and be satisfied. Less than two servings of ice cream is not worth it to me so I log two servings and have it when it fits. Doing this a container of ice cream (when did it stop being half a gallon??) lasted me almost two weeks, which was pretty much unheard of for me,…
  • I look at the menu ahead of time and try to figure out what I want and how it will fit. If I was going to where you were going I would probably eat all of the meat, and have a nice workout the next day where I sweat meat. It would be worth it. Enjoy the time with your family!
  • I will say tell myself that today is a maintenance day. That means I can go 500 over my goal for that day (I'm set for a pound a week) and still lose weight the rest of the week, just not as much. Once I tell myself I can't have something that is all I want, so I make it work. This makes it more sustainable for me, it may…
  • I go out to eat at least once or twice a week, sometimes more depending on the social calendar. It hasn't hurt my weight loss, but I don't think I have any weeks when I didn't go out to eat so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I look at the menus ahead of time, and the nutrition facts if it's a chain, and try…
  • Pretty much, and I weigh most of it, too. I don't measure the super low-cal stuff like mustard or hot sauce, but I record that I ate it. I like having a full record of everything. It also keeps me honest and makes it easier for me to turn down the mindless snacking and the nibbles here and there since I know I will need to…
  • And now I want candied bacon. I guess I just live on the wild side.
  • I'm pretty impressed you remembered a thread you created two and a half years ago!
  • Just be aware that you are generally at your heaviest at the end of the day. I can be as much as five pounds heavier at the end of the day depending on how much food I have in my belly still, if I've gone to the bathroom, etc. So don't be discouraged if it is higher than you expected.
  • I never really learned anything about portion control in my first stint, but I was running enough to keep me covered. Once I was injured and unable to run my overeating allowed me to quickly and easily put on 20 pounds. I'm a 5'3" woman who wants to be able to eat the same as a 6'3" man and still fit into the same jeans.…
  • I have never heard that and I spend a lot of time on the internet reading random crap. I'm sure you'll be fine. It's water. You are like 50% water.
  • My fat, fat jeans were getting tight, and when I stepped on the scale I was five pounds heavier than my previous high weight. That was a good enough shock to make things happen.
  • Vinegar cleans everything!
  • I would treat it the same as eating out somewhere without nutrition info and log it something close.
  • Hahaha I'm sure you'll prove it wrong.
  • I pick them up and look at the calorie info and then I put them back. I do this every day when I go to the store to get my water for lunch. I'm pretty sure the people that work there think I'm crazy. I haven't bought one yet but if one day I feel it is worth the 250 calories then I'll buy it, most days it isn't worth…
  • I was told that women of childbearing age should take a multivitamin that contains folic acid , just in case of an unplanned pregnancy. I take a Nature Made Multivitamin, mainly because they are often on sale at my grocery store.
  • I tried weighing olive oil on my scale using the mL setting and it was way more calories than a tablespoon, like 3 times as many so I never tried that again.
