  • You'll find quite a lot on YouTube. For pea-fishing, you put down a shallow container with water and put in some frozen peas or sweetcorn. The rats then fish them out to eat!
  • Rats can be trained to do tricks. At the shows they do agility courses like dogs, curiosity and pea-fishing,
  • Great! They are such superb pets. It's a pity they have such short lifespans. I'll post more about mine soon - I'm off to church now - I'm on IT! Ann
  • Hi - I'm on multiple medications for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and depression issues. I'm sure you will find it helpful if you can take the Lexapro - which is escitalopram and is one of the newer SSRI antidepressants and anti-anxiety agents with fewer side-effects from the earlier ones. Good luck with that, and…
  • I really want to lose for health reasons - with diabetes, raised blood pressure and cholesterol - also depression. Unfortunately I'm on steroids and pregabalin, which promote weight gain. Ann
  • I've been doing a cage-clean today. Critter 2 - two black rex girls - Sparkles and Sapphire, Delilah (pink-eyed white), Diamond (black hooded), Willow (black Berkshire), ReepiSheep - castrated pearl rex buck Explorer base - Galaxy (Red-eyed Blue Point Siamese), Twirl (seal point Siamese), Revel - Agouti (all bucls)…
  • I'm so sorry that such a lot of you are going through this. I had to say goodbye to Winter a few weeks ago. It became clear that she has a particularly unpleasnat type of tumour, and I felt it better to let her go before she knew any distress. On Sunday I collected two lovely new boys for showing - Twix (a silvered black)…
  • I'm so sorry for those of you who have also recently lost beloved pets. Thwir paw-prints remain on our hearts.
  • I'm so sorry for your loss. She wasn't 'just a cat' - she was your special girl. For those of us without children, the loss of a pet is even more painful - I'm struggling at the moment. However, although they are no longer with us, they have left their pawprints on our hearts for ever. I'm hoping this link will reproduce…
  • Welcome, Jane PMDD must be lousy. I was lucky to escape that, but had endometriosis, which gave me a lot of pain. The menopause was very welcome. Wales sounds a lovely place - I'd like to visit Nicholaston House, on the Gower peninsula Having been feeling much better, I'm having a major setback with depression at the…
  • I'm doing various fruit teas etc. now.
  • I bought quite a lot of fruit etc. at Morrisons yesterday. I also have some frozen veg in the freezer which I will use - and fish, although I'm moving towards vegetarianism.
  • I meet quite a few people from church, but most are young families or very elderly. I also do volunteering at the library - Mondays two hours supervising the computers (web wizard) and Thursday two hours archiving. I then meet quite a lot of people to do with rat shows, and am starting judge training.
  • Yes, the herbal teas are a great idea, also the Bottlegreen, which I had forgotten. Thank you.
  • Kate says that drinking plenty of water is the major thing, and low-dditive things to suck etc.
  • Hi - I'm Ann, aged 66, from the UK. I've been on MFP sporadically since January, but only investigated groups today. Thank you for starting this group. I have osteoarthritis (two brilliant hip replacements), chronic back pain, type 2 diabetes, dysthymia/depression and possible fibromyalgia. I first gained a significant…
  • I'm from Tunbridge Wells, Kent - and am happy to be added, although I haven't used the 'Friends' feature before.
  • Weight loss. I think it's supposed to be about 1kg a week, so I really just need to take time to do the maths!
  • Wow - I don't have any tattoos or piercings (I'm 66) and had no idea sessions could take so long! However, I have a friend with Type 1 diabetes who has some incredible tattoos, and I will ask how she manages - or even get suggestions from the 'body modification' thread on one of the rat forums!
  • I have 24 pet rats and one Syrian Hamster. The only exercise they give me is cage-cleaning - and some horrendous journeys to shows by public transport, but they do give comfort and might help prevent emotional eating. ReepiSheep - a pearl rex Contrary to their popular image, fancy rats are very clean, very sociable, very…
