nmication and weight
I wonder if any more of you are on the similar 'cocktail' to me. All can lead to weight gain or increased appetite: pregabalin - for pain and anxiety nortriptyline - for pain and depression (similar to amitriptyline prednisolone - for polymyalgia rheumatica. Ann

67 - depression, anxiety and physical problems
Hi - I'm 67 and have struggled with depression and anxiety for most of my life. A month ago I at last saw a psychiatrist and am booked for a Mindfulness CBT group in October. I see her again on Wednesday. I was so pleased that she didn't mess around with my medication, apart from adding pregabalin - which is also used for…

Back - in the UK - would like support (age 67)
I haven't been on here for over a year. I have to lose 15-20 Kg. I live alone and have been using a lot of ready meals as I hate cooking. I'm aiming to learn to cook some of the things in books for vegetarian students, as I'd like to move to vegetarianism. I have problems with depression and anxiety, polymyalgia…

Anyone else on steroids and/or pregabalin?
I was losing weight, but have polymyalgia rheumatica and am on prednisolone. I'm also on pregabalin and nortriptyline for pain and depression. All of these predispose to weight gain. I wonder if anyone else is on these, and how you manage weight issues? I'm also moving to a vegetarian diet. Love to hear from you. Ann

Taken too soon
Three weeks ago I had to say goodbye to one of my old rats - approaching 3. It is sad that their average lifefespan is two to three - usually nearer two. However, on Monday I found one of my beautifulo ivory boys, only a year old, dead in his house - possibly for two days. I feel very guilty and it has contributed to an…

Newbie - long-term depression
Hi, I'm Ann, aged 66, in the UK, with 40lb to lose. I suffer from dysthymia, with frequent depressive exacerbations. I've had a wide variety of medications, and the current one is the best I've had, so I feel 'normal' for quite a lot of the time. I find my pets (see user name, plus a Syrian hamster) a great comfort - I…

Newbie - on Metformin
Hi, I'm Ann, aged 66, from the UK, and have been diagnosed as having Type 2 diabetes for almost a year, having a strong family history. of it. I also have hypertension and raised cholesterol. Said goodbye to Dika
My oldest little rat had to be euthanased two days ago. She's had problems for months, but Monday night I had to come down to get some tablets and found her really distressed. I gave her painkiller, rang the emergency vet and had permission to give her a little diazepam if I could look up the dose - which I did. I took her…

Low calorie, low additive drinks
Other than water with a dash of lemon etc., please can anyone recommend a low-calorie drink to use in the day? I would prefer to reduce my intake of aspartame, and avoid saccharin etc. I'm not sure about the safety of stevia. It appears that Sainsburys are either cutting back or running out of their flavoured still waters…

Short and long-term targets?
I'm 66 and my exercise is limited by arthritis and back problems. I am just over 5ft 5in, currently 81.5Kg and would like to get down to 63.5Kg or just below. I'm not sure how this is best broken down into short-term and medium-term targets. Suggestions welcome.

New to forums - would like encouragement
I've been using MFP sporadically since itas recommended in our 'Weight for It' group some months ago, but haven't used the forums - and have no idea how the Friend system works. I really want to get back to recording regularly and not skipping when I've been 'misbehaving!' I'm 66 (just), and live in the UK. I'm limited as…
