  • https://www.fitbit.com/user/3ZQHLL Looking for more fitbit friends for challenges!
  • I'll add you! Welcome to MFP!
  • I'm 44, and have about 40 lbs. to lose. I've always struggled with weight. I have several medical conditions that make it difficult to lose weight but oh-so-easy to gain it! Ugh! I am starting my 3rd week of exercise (4 times a week for at least 30 minutes AND striving to get 10,000 steps per day, which is not easy with a…
  • I will send requests to you both if that's okay! I need to lose 40 lbs and I'm looking to fill my friends list with motivated people who are looking to support and be supported like me!
  • Add me! We can support each other! I need to lose 40 lbs., and am hoping to do so by summer. I've been working my a** off for the past two weeks and the scale has gone nowhere. I'm playing the cruel game of up 1, down 1, up 1 with it and I was really frustrated. Today, I put a workout shirt on I hadn't worn in about a week…
  • If you are not going to use it with a phone, might I suggest that you sync throughout the day so you can still monitor your progress. It's not going to motivate you if you're just plugging it in at night to see what you've done. You need to see it throughout the day to motivate you to do more to meet your goals!
  • At 5lbs, a mani/pedi. At 10 lbs, I'm buying myself new workout clothes. At 20 lbs, new pants for work ('cause I will NEED them!). At 30 lbs, the PiYo workout DVD's and at goal weight, fun new clothes!
  • You've taken the first step . . . recognizing it, and you did it BEFORE gaining 153 lbs. back, so applaud yourself for that! I've fallen off the wagon many times (been knocked down by it, run over by it, and dragged behind it for several months. . . ! LOL) but eventually I manage to catch back up to it and jump back on!…
  • My boss bought me one for Christmas! I never would have purchased one for myself, but he knows me better than I do at times, and he looks out for my well-being sometimes more than I do! It has really motivated me! It's a little harder to sit down and eat a bag of chips when you have a fitbit hanging on your arm "staring at…
  • I'm looking to lose 40 lbs, most of it hopefully before summer hits, but I'm a "slow loser" unfortunately! Feel free to add me! We can all benefit from each other's support!
  • Been there, done this, and it is truly a challenging journey. I too suffer from PCOS and insulin resistance (which has since evolved into type 2 diabetes) as well as hypothyroidism, a horrible combination when you are trying to conceive. Spent 9 years trying to become a mom. Couldn't get my cycle regular to save my life!…
  • Great job! Doesn't it feel wonderful to see such a great improvement! Keep up the good work!
  • I'd like to add both of you! Always looking for eating ideas, especially with diabetes involved.
  • I have 40 lbs to lose as well and will take all the support and motivation I can get. Will be sending friend requests to many of you on this thread.
  • I'm looking to drop 40, so I'll adding all three of you! Just got a fitbit for Christmas from my boss. I really like it, but am frustrated with the scale. Two weeks of logging food, 10,000 steps per day (most days) and 4 days cardio (30 minutes minimum), and the scale is NOT moving! Argh!
  • I make a breakfast quesadilla each morning that keeps me full until lunch! It is soooo good! It's best made fresh, but I make them ahead and heat them in the microwave and they are still yummy! First I sauté onions (1/2 cup chopped), mushrooms (3 oz. fresh) for 2 minutes or so with non-stick spray, then add spinach (3 oz…
  • Hi Adamkula! As requested, I took a look at your food and exercise diary. First, you must be single or have an extremely supportive partner - 2 1/2 hours exercise! wow! I can't find time for 15 minutes let alone 2 1/2 hours! LOL I only looked at 9/12, 9/13 and 9/14 diary, so my advice is limited to what is on these days.…
  • I use Joseph's multigrain flatbread. I spray it with nonstick spray and bake it for a few minutes (gives a crispier "crust", then remove and put on my sauce, sliced onions, mushrooms, and cheese. Yummy!
  • I log my food using MFP and I use Glucose Buddy for tracking my BS. It's simple and easy to use. It allows me to enter at the time of testing or later. I have read that some apps do not allow you to enter previous numbers. You can e-mail a log to yourself or your doctor. My only complaint with this app is that it is not…
  • Hi, my name is Gail. I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes two weeks ago. I have had PCOS for years along with hypothyroidism, two grandmothers with the disease (one of whom lost a leg), so I knew it was only a matter of time before the official diagnosis. Needless to say, it still freaked me out. Wasn't really thinking it…
  • I understand how you feel, but you can still do something about it. I made a french chocolate cake today with my 10-year-old daughter because she wanted to have a "french" meal. I ate a piece THEN figured out the numbers and THEN made myself exercise. By the end of my workout, I was back down under the daily allottment for…
  • Hi Bobbie, from your intro it sounds to me like you should first focus on what you are eating. Logging your food here on My Fitness Pal will help you to see how far off track you may be with your eating habits (assuming you are, I can't imagine how you find time to eat well when you only get 3 1/2 hours of sleep!). If…

  • Hi newbies! Here are my favorites about MFP: 1) the iphone app with scanning ability - you can scan the bar code on your food items to add them directly to your diary . . . . in a word . . . AWESOME! 2) The recipe section - I love to cook, especially soups during the winter months, so I love that I can build my recipes and…
  • I joined the 40 club in December too, and I have to say it was quite depressing. I had promised myself I would get healthy before I turned 40, and instead, my birthday came and went with nothing more than that unfulfilled promise. So, in January I started out again, this time using MFP and I really LOVE it! In addition to…
  • You look awesome! You are glowing from your accomplishment! Congrats!
  • Southernyanke, I have absolutely no coordination either, so I choose to do Zumba in the comfort of my own home! This way I only have to worry about tripping over my own two feet without taking out some innocent bystander! I will say my dog has been in th wrong place a time or two, but he has learned to stay out of the way…
  • Hi Karen, I started using this site about a month ago, and so far I've lost 8 lbs. I'm a "slow loser", so 8 lbs. is a great accomplishment for me. Also, I'm short (5 foot), so 8 lbs. is noticeable and I can already see results. Good luck on your weight loss journey!
  • Christinerush, I'm not sure if a general scanner app will work, but if you have a droid, I think you can load MFP app and hopefully it has the scanning feature. I know the iphone does. I use it daily and it is what keeps me on track logging what I eat because it's so easy! And I agree with you, gabistyle88, seeing where…
