Kid is 8 now. Has never eaten meat. Couldn't possibly be healthier.

I was wondering the same thing.

http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-detox-scam-how-to-spot-it-and-how-to-avoid-it/ I heart you guys. I came to this thread expecting a gong show. But this board is way smarter than I gave it credit for. I won't make that mistake again.

I emailed the company to ask about this because I know I'm right and they should not be allowed to list their product as having 1/4 to 1/5 as many calories as it has. They did not reply. Does anyone know who I should reach out to in Canada when a product's label is grossly incorrect?

nothing?

eat a bunch of fruits and vegetables and you'll definitely get more than enough fiber. I hit 40 on a regular basis, not every day, but often. and as someone mentioned, it's great for an appetite suppressant. As an example, if I'm at my limit for the day and I start to get peckish, I'll grab a cucumber and just get it in my…

you'll never reach the potassium goal because most foods don't have it listed. just the default entries for raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and meats have them. but practically nothing packaged does. Aim to get halfway there, and you're likely meeting it. I've been going through a great stretch where I meet my calorie goals…

Has anyone mentioned that this all sounds like a bunch of hokey, pseudo science nonsense? I hope so! unless you feed your cats and dogs warm water, wouldn't it solidify almost instantly in their bowl?

ummm, yeah. Oil is fat.

I am a vegetarian. Growing up, as an omnivore, I read a lot about “complete” proteins, which seemed to be the buzzword at the time. What I was led to believe was that plant proteins are missing some of the “essential” amino acids, the ones that are needed for muscle development and growth. And Animal proteins (meat, whey,…

not much I can add to this topic. I eat vegetarian and I think I'm healthier. I think that, all things considered, if you're a vegetarian, you're "more likely" to be healthier than a meat eater, but "more likely" does not mean "guaranteed". There is a ton of overlap in the health of vegetarians and meat eaters. I dated a…

does it say it's seasoned? is there salt in the ingredients? does it taste salty? if so, that's probably close to accurate. When I ate meat, the bozes of chicken breasts I bought had that much sodium. I always bought them seasoned. Not sure if you can get them unseasoned. The fresh ones, I guess, would be unseasoned...

Just use the entry that says "grapefruit - raw" and do the same for any fruit or vegetable.

based on its texture and incredibly high potassium content (double that of most juices) I would assume V8 is blended and not just "juiced"... would you agree?
-
Here's what I posted earlier: low sodium v8 is so awesome. If you're going to drink something from a bottle you simply can't do better. It is very low in calories, high in taste (once you get used to the fact that vegetable juice should not be very salty) and very high in potassium. compare to tropicana orange juice. -…

I never follow recipes, I just get ideas and throw **** together. A few weeks ago I decided to make a vegan lasagna with soft tofu in place of the ricotta, and daiya for the cheese. Straightforward, right? Except for one thing. I made a layer of daiya in the middle of the lasagna and it turned out to be the most…

yes, yes, and yes. I assume this is relevant, but I'm not seeing why. Please go on...

my answer - why would "processing" make it worse? what are they taking away from the vegetables by blending them into a juice? I love low sodium V8... posted about it just half an hour ago :)
-
Yes, and that's technically legal, but incorrect. Cucumbers contain calories, do you think they disappear once pickled? Carbs and protein just disappear? It is not zero but it is so low that they are allowed to "round it down" to zero. As you even posted, it says there's 1 gram of carbs in there. You know how many calories…

bananas and potatoes, basically. but all fruits and vegetable have a lot of it, particularly in relation to their calorie content. as has been mentioned here, most foods in the database don't have potassium listed so don't worry about hitting MFP's goal unless all you're entering is fresh fruits, nuts and vegetables.

help me to understand... I'm mostly vegan so I do eat a lot of coconut and use coconut milk. But growing up and researching, i always saw that coconut oil was the most saturated fat, and saturated fats are bad. Typically the "good" fats are the ones that have more polyunsaturates and lower saturates. So what is it about…

do your best, and always assume there's more sugar, fat and calories in something than you would think. Overestimate when putting it in, just to be sure.
-
I'm 100% vegetarian, and 95% vegan (I eat cheese as an additive or ingredient in packaged foods or restaurant foods but never go out of my way to eat it)... maybe will get to 100% one day. Best of luck keeping it up!
-
That is true as well. that's what I'm doing right now. eating 1900 calories a day, and I've lost 11 in 23 days, without even working out. I get all my protein, fiber, A, C, calcium and iron in a day (without even eating meat, I'll proudly add!). When I have just a couple hundred calories left, I USE THEM - I stick to the…

I have never observed this phenomenon.
-
That's funny! And that's exactly my point, you can't just create energy.
-
It "almost" is that simple. Isn't a human body pretty much a closed system to which principles of the "law of conservation of energy" would apply? the food you eat has a certain amount of energy in it. the things you do in a day take a certain amount of energy to do. Add one, subtract the other, and you have a positive or…
