  • self consciousness. now that i feel better and know that i can run, i've lost my awkwardness. i race the kids home from school knowing i wont be out of breath in 30 seconds. i wouldn't have dared do that a year ago, and not through laziness, just that i thought i'd look so ridiculous. now i dont care :)
  • yo. yes, i'd move on. when i did it there were a few weeks that i still felt like dying on day 3 but i always managed the next one. its a leap of faith. and yep, once you're running more than walking you will go a lot further. you'll be amazed in a couple of weeks the difference. the first week i used to count the seconds…
  • i ran mine off! used to have more than is dignified, but a few months running last year and it pretty much vanished. i only lost about 7lbs in that time, so it wasn't weight loss really. its miraculous.
  • 5k definitely. you'll actually be up to 25 min runs from week 7, then 27/8 mins in week 8 so the last 3 weeks are very similar and you're basically at the level you need to be for a 5k. go for it!
  • doing the c25k programme will eliminate your need to walk bits! in a few weeks you'll be running all of it and more. i did it this year and went from counting the seconds til i could stop in week 1. i would count to 60 each interval and feel like dying, then it was 5 minutes?? 5 whole minutes?? i can't do that. but i…
  • that embarrassment is what keeps people from exercising and getting fitter i think. i know thinner fitter people probably assume it's laziness but it was definitely not wanting to be seen red faced and sweating and out of breath that made me avoid things for too long. use the motivation, it IS embarrassing. you can change…
  • i do SW and i log on here (because the SW food diary is so not user friendly) and i find that i am usually more or less around MFPs calorie goal anyway. if i'm over, it's because i've overdone the syns. following SW rather than straight calorie counting means i make more sensible choices though, so i keep doing it.
  • you look great! nice work :D
  • yep, i've completed it and run 30mins now, which i still find ridiculous. me? running? does not compute. still do it though lol.
  • people talk about 5lb and 10lb a size but that's got to be when you're in the smaller sizes where every lb makes a big difference. i've only just started into the next size smaller at 30+lbs down. but i really was pushing my luck with the old clothes, that theory is so right for me. i'm hoping it will take a lot less than…
  • ha, i'm having a dry month and hoping it gets some results. i had a dry April and lost precisely 0lbs. but i've bee drinking a few times a week of late so hoping it helps! 3lbs in week one, onwards!
  • i'm a GG, i have an underwired Freya Active sports bra and have zero issue with bouncing. i can do 30DS and i run with no boob bother. it's a revelation, because the having of giant boobs was a major contributor to stopping being active in the first place as a self conscious teen, but it doesnt cross my mind now when…
  • its a biggie. stopped me for years. i know lots of people assume its laziness that stops people exercising but i think i large part of it is this self concious embarrassment at how you'll look. have you someone that can go with you? i found that a massive help. i've done c25k, and at first i had to go at 6.30am so there…
  • i tried the 'just run til you need to walk' style at first and didn't get very far. then i tried the c25k and turns out i can run more than i thought. waiting, dying, for that voice to say 'walk' made me push myself way more than i did off my own back, as i suspected it would. i ran for 30minutes tonight, i might have got…
  • you really won't struggle. we have good food here! my husband is a chef ;) we have plenty of perfectly ok chain restaurants but you can find something to suit your tastes at zillions of independent places. explore and enjoy!
  • ha, that gave me a giggle. yes, i always gain a few. i'm up 4 on a few days ago, just in time for official weigh in. thanks body! and now to battle the carb cravings for a few days.
  • love tuna. i like it with a tin of tomatoes, pasta and bit of cream cheese/creme fraiche. with a jacket potato you cant beat it, pitta pizzas, with rice, sweetcorn and soy sauce. a tuna and cheese toastie is beautiful but not the healthy option (sadly)
  • excellent timing, i just started today and came looking for something to keep me motivated. :)
  • brilliant, i was so thrilled when i did it a few weeks ago. i think it was the first time in my life that i'd done it! up to 2 miles now.
  • i'm fatter than 99% of women in the world. well, that' started my day off well. i might just print that off and stick it to the fridge, it's about the most effective shame inducing thing i've ever seen.
  • i'd cry if i was a size 12 as well! hurray! well done
  • :D i love the word britches. that's fabulous progress!
  • i'm incredibly slow. but, i couldn't run at all a few weeks ago, now i am doing my first 5k on sunday. i shall be so very slow and am fighting off feelings of embarrassment about that rather than being proud i'm doing it at all. which is dense.
  • i'm going by time but it's a bit of a worry. I'm doing a 5k in a couple of weeks. I'm in week 7 atm and can't even do 2 miles in 25minutes yet. speed will follow i assume, for now i'm working on stamina. a couple of months ago i was struggling to run 2 minutes, so i have every faith i'll be able to do 5k in 30m eventually!…
  • NHS podcasts.
  • yeah!!!! i just did it this morning and am veh happy too :drinker: well done!
  • thanks! didn't get out this morning as small boy was up all night ill, am gutted now. tomorrow! hopefully :)
  • i have w5d3 in the morning, i'm a little nervous about it so this is nice to read!
  • well done! i'm definitely doing it at my own pace too, did w5d2 this morning but started 7 weeks ago. still, it's getting done!
  • i'm a GG and run merrily in my freya active underwired sports bra. it wasn't even expensive, £20 i think. i'm the opposite though, i didn't run at school because of bounce issues and then i got fat and didn't want to lollop about looking stupid. when my daughter goes to school i shall be telling her about the existence of…
