  • I run an 11/min mile and am pretty darn proud of it. I started off just walking so it has taken me a while to get to this point. I hope to increase my speed at some point, but right now I am working on distance. I am 33 years old and have never enjoyed running until now.
  • What really keeps me motivated while running is that I try to break my records. If I am doing weights I usually only do a quick run and I will try to beat my best speed. If I am doing a long run I try to run further and for a longer time than the last time I ran. I haven't been running for very long so this really works…
  • I have had 2 C-sections and have been various different weights over the years and it doesn't seem to get that much better. When I was at my lowest weight the line was a little better, but still not great. My understanding from my OB is that the line is created by scar tissue. I actually have two lines because they…
  • My aunt lost 100lbs a while back. When we would have family gatherings she did bring food that she could eat. She took personally responsibility for what she ate and didn't expect the family to change any of the dishes to accommodate her. She did bring several servings so the dish could be passed if others wanted to try…
  • I'm 5' 5'' and currently weigh 175lbs down from 191(my highest weight ever not being pregnant). I haven't figured out a goal weight, but my doctor discussed with me check in points. I am aiming to get down to 160lbs and then re-evaluate to set a final goal. I imagine that I will end up around 140-150. About 8 years ago I…
  • @Hollydubs85-I am not saying he has to be vegan in order for me to eat vegan. I am not delusional enough to think he would ever give up eating meat. However, I don't have the money or the time to cook to separate meals everyday. I just think it would be nice if we could do a couple vegan meals a week. It would be a…
  • When I have splurged for a couple of days I tend to gain a few pounds. Once I go back to eating and exercising the way I normally do the pounds come off quickly. Sometimes it's a pound a day or even two until I go back down to where I was.
  • Agree
  • Honestly, when I have sore muscles from pushing myself hard I find that stretching good and exercising again is the only thing that helps other than waiting a couple days for the soreness to pass. I don't like to wait the couple of days because I get off routine.
  • I have been interested in switching to vegan, but I have very little support at home in doing so. My husband is a huge meat eater, but his cholesterol and blood pressure have recently increased to a point where the doctor is concerned. I am thinking I could cook some of the vegan recipes a couple times a week to reduce the…
  • I do have some protein powder at home that I use from time to time, but I really try to get most or all of my protein from food. The banana ice cream sounds awesome. I may just have to try that!

  • Hi! My name is Colleen. I live in the Cleveland, OH area. I have been on MFP for quite a while, but have been seriously working on my weight loss since October 2013. My plan was to maintain during the holidays and then continue to lose. I have lost 16 pounds so far and am looking to lose another 20-25 pounds. Feel free to…
  • Good information for us beginners!
  • I dropped from a tight 14 to a 10/12 (mostly 12s) with only a 16lb weight loss. I do weight lifting and I swear that has been the key for me. Even when I didn't drop pounds I lost inches and could see changes in my body. Good Luck!
  • Interesting....I am 17.5% smaller than I thought I was. My husband always says I am smaller than I see myself.
  • Gender: Female Height: 5'5'' Starting weight: 191 Current Weight: 175.2 Goal weight: Unsure, I'll know it when I see it. I'm hoping about 150lbs Activity level: Lightly Active at work, but workout every day Weight loss goal: .50-1 pound per week Calorie Goal (Net): 1800-1850 Average Calorie intake: 1750-1900 Exercise:…

  • I am starting this week!
  • Maybe try some nuts, peanut butter and banana, or veggies with hummus.
  • Good information!
  • I make dinner my final food of the day. I try to make sure I finish off all my calories for the day during dinner...or come really close. Once dinner is over I just don't eat anymore. It has really helped me stay on track.
  • I can't recall what my bad cholesterol number. I didn't write it down because the nurse said the number was very good. My good cholesterol was 44 and she said that they wanted it above 50. I am not a fan of fish at all so I would be looking some non-fish options. I have already added nuts and eggs to my diet. I exercise…
  • Crockpot turkey meatloaf and salad...I might even splurge on a baked potato if I have enough calories.
  • Your doctor should have told you how many carbs you are to eat per meal in order to bring down your blood sugar. If the doctor didn't share this information with you I would call them to find out.
  • If you have no job or income you would qualify for Medicaid. With Medicaid you would be able to go see your doctor to ask for professional advice on your weight issues as well as your birth control needs.
  • My favorite is oatmeal, peanut butter and banana. I eat it a couple times a week.
