  • Extra Lean Chicken Breast 30% protein, about 1% fat 100g worth has approximately the same nutritional macros as a protein shake
  • I do about 1g per pound of body weight when working out You don't necessarily need protein powder, I only use it on days when I'm not hungry. I eat a lot of chicken (specifically breast meat) and sometimes will have tuna as well, Beef is good too, but I do find it fills me up faster with less protein than chicken will (I…
  • Shockingly and happily Love handles
  • Calipers are said to be inaccurate for people who are very lean, so it is highly possible you have not lost much muscle mass That having been said if you have lost 4 inches, odds are you lost fat and muscle in equal portions to what you had when you lost weight. So yes, you would have had to lose muscle mass, but not…
  • I am the same age, slightly shorter and also similar type of diet with the same time commitment in the gym, sometimes more 27 months, no change in any way 6 weeks ago, I made a few changes in my diet, and the weight started melting off The main thing I did was increase my protein intake and decreased carbs drastically. I…
  • I'm a nutcase If I prelog, I'll feel the need to either push myself to that point even though I really shouldn't on one of my worse days or I'll feel the need to exceed my goal whether it be more calories or to get the same number of calories in less minutes - again putting my body at risk. Plus I like the idea of knowing…
  • I try to work out twice a day 5 days a week Some days I do have to turn down the intensity on the cardio a notch. A typical day looks like this: Workout 1: 10 minute cardio warmup 30 unproductive minutes at the weights (I think I rest too much between sets) Workout 2: 40-70 (skewed slightly to the lower end) cardio workout…
  • Congrats I'm straddling that line myself :) I'm mostly out, but some days I still have about half a pound of extra water - so I've still been seeing that side of the scale for a week, but a couple more days and it'll be in the rearview for me as well

  • Same for me - I still eat 3000+ calories on the weekends, but some weekdays, half of that is a struggle
  • On the days where I don't get enough, I put a spoon (not a scoop) or two of unflavoured protein powder into my flavoured yogurt. Sprinkiing it into stuff like that doesn't change the taste and adds 5-10g here and there.
  • Elliptical, but if they are all in use, the bike, and my next bet is the rowing machine I can do more on the rowing machine than on the bike, but I need to take breaks for water and I get blisters
  • When I started, I found the motion awkward, I found raising the resistance and lowering the RPM really helped In general, I prefer to have a higher resistance than a higher RPM, I will knock it down a couple of points if I am sore or beyond tired
  • I guess on average I didn't overtrain :) Over the last 7 days, I am only 402 calories under my goals, which means I should have lost 1.1 lbs this week :)
  • Not sure how much you weigh, but this is relatively consistent with what I have seen when peeking over other peoples shoulders and calculating their statistics - 100 in 10 is the higher end of normal for what I see for most women, but certainly within reason (I usually would see closer to mid-90s)
  • During rush hour Why get stuck in traffic on the way home from work? I spend 60-65 min at the gym including the shower and I end up losing about 25 minutes of my day
  • Some are pretty crappy some are pretty close I have found the elliptical I use tends to be very accurate, but I once used one that I was unfamiliar with, putting in very little effort and I was averaging 17 calories per minute, very very unlikely. For a treadmill, ignoring incline, as a baseline test, I find that take your…
  • My doctor warned me of this happening It is just water. It's happening to me for the first time right now, but I just dropped half a pound, so I am expecting to see a little more
  • Grrrrr! No time at the gym today either I'm actually slightly over my calories today, but I am planning a very long date with the elliptical tomorrow
  • That's not my "philosophy" I just have a crazy weekend schedule and I don't eat as healthy. I certainly drink way more calories throughout the weekend and I don't have time to workout But yes, because I overtrain and "undereat" throughout the week, I feel less guilty about the 2nd cookie or the 3rd glass of juice or the…
  • Recently, I've been putting my chocolate peanut butter in chocolate milk, it works well Cookies and Cream + water tasted awful when I had it, I couldn't wait to finish it I've also before mixed in small servings into plain yogurt or unflavoured protein into fruit yogurts (I usually have the 35 calorie cups with 5-10g of…
  • I ate WAY too many calories on Saturday (well over 3000) But no gym on Friday Saturday or Sunday - so I was able to stay away Now I have to fight the guilt and temptation to make up for it this week. I'm already planning my day around a 1000+ calorie workout though...
  • This word for word is almost what I was going to say You need to consume enough protein to maintain your muscle or you will lose it with the fat Your body fat % will likely drop as you desire, but it will only because you lost more fat than muscle - not because you lost just fat and not muscle. I have found that increasing…
  • Time for the weekend, no working out and no worrying about calories :)
  • I hope this isn't because of me
  • Net is after workouts right? I ate well over 1500 to begin with
  • Progress: I netted just over 1100 calories yesterday - I expected a little more to be honest, but again, didn't starve myself :)
  • I think my last post got deleted and I don't want to retype it but in summary Yes Strength Training Am Trying to lose weight Was 184 this morning, looking to be 160-170. I'm not as fat as my weight as I am already carrying just under 140 lbs of muscle
  • When I was having a lot of carbs, I was closer to 1800, but I was drinking a lot of my calories I'm not "extremely" short but I am short (5'5") well today, I know I will be netting quite high because of my evening plans. Saturday will be a big spike too Just FYI: MFP recommends net 1680 a day for me. Typically, I have…
