Long hair!

Not to me. I prefer climber's bodies - more lean.

Dark chocolate! Hits the craving, but the flavour is intense so that you can't eat more than 1 or 2 pieces. Go for higher cocoa contents. :)

I'm 5"4 and I eat 1700-1800 a day for maintenance.

@owlibee Yes, keep going until your periods come back - when I was underweight without periods, I had a bone scan and my t score showed I had mild osteomalacia. Hormones keep everything in check. Women's oestrogen production is important for their bones - and there are other complications from not having a period. I would…

Eat it, and control the amount of it you eat. Sooner or later you're going to get to where you want to be weight-wise, and it's better to start learning how to say "I've had enough now" rather than just avoiding things entirely now instead of at the end. :) And after all, what is life if you abstain from chocolate? ;)

Do hamsters count? I can run around in this hamster wheel and stuff.

@lovely That you live somewhere warm(ish)? (Judging by the sunglasses)

(Final year Biomed here) haha I finally get to put my lectures to some use! There have been various studies done, but rather than go through them, I'll just say that it has been shown that after a single bout of eccentric training, the membrane is protected for up to 8 weeks afterwards from damage with any further training…

I make myself eat something even if I'm not that hungry, or I start craving sugar later during the day!

Ditto the comments made - cardio for fat loss, weight training to minimise muscle loss, then more weights after you've stopped losing to gain muscle to tighten those areas up (I found mine shrunk and firmed with NROL4W)

I have been sleeping far less, yes - I'll try to stop pulling all nighters of work XD Thanks for the de-loading tip - I'll try that this next week and see how it goes :) thanks!

Final year Biomedical scientist here - chose modules focusing on muscle and cardiovascular/respiratory system this year so hopefully I can put in some helpful input :) The reason why weightlifting is contraindicated in people with, say heart failure, is because of the changes in blood pressure associated with that type of…

When I lost weight due to my ed, nobody at university said a word. Not one. The only people who confronted me about it was my family and old high school friends. But NOW that I'm a healthy weight and have decided to build muscle, I have been getting comments from my lecture buddies and strangers, left right and centre! My…

^ What these two said. The mental aspect of eating more (especially due to a past ED) is tough, and then trying to eat more whilst fitting those things into your macros is annoying - I'm finding it difficult to get enough protein, as whey protein powder *ahem* err badly disagrees with me! Some days I find I'm super hungry…

Yes, unless it's really bad.

I agree with Leadfoot_Lewi - I don't think it's all to do with diet alone. Mostly, yes, but weightlifting (not necessarily targeted core, just stuff that engages your whole body) might help. Why do I say this? When I had an ED and my weight was dangerously low, my stomach was pretty flat but there was no definition - ie…

(Not really directed at the OP but I thought I'd just put this forward to data3567) I'm in my final year of biomedical sciences, having covered water and the body in detail. Hypernatremia exists, though it's quite rare. (For example, a 30 year old woman died of it in the 2012 London Marathon). What alwaysinmotion says…

I'm loving lifting weights at the moment and I'm determined to become stronger. :) Thanks ever so much for all your information, truly - you've been super helpful!

'The body sculpting bible for women' is this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Body-Sculpting-Bible-Women-Third/dp/1578264014 I'll stick to NRL4W though Righto - so it's better to invest in a barbell. I was considering it, just that presumably I'd have to get a rack to place it on and whatnot too? Would it be a good idea to buy…

I started out using "body sculpting bible for women", but people on bodybuilding.com didn't think much of that, so I've switched to NRL4W. Thing is, compared to the previous book, NRL4W seems really easy. I guess it's because I've had to start at week 1 again. Everything I do is using dumbbells - I have a 20kg set but I'm…

Look up Quaker oat's 'oat pillows' if you want cereal But oatmeal all the way for tasty filling time! ;)

Pre-February, I started to count again to see what I was eating and found it was between 1200-1400 a day. Now I've taken advice from various books, MFP and BB members and sites, and I aim to get 1750-1850 on rest days and 2000 on weight training days. It was super difficult to overcome the mindset to eat that much at first…

I've 'recovered' weight-wise about half a year ago, and I'm currently 5"4 and 113 pounds (last time I weighed, but it keeps going up despite my waist staying the same, and is probably more than that now as my arms definitely look more muscled!) I have bought skin calipers, but it's really hard to pinch the skin in places…

<3 This is such a nice post. As someone who's suffered an ED in the past, your words ring truth. Hopefully some people will listen to your words of wisdom. Even if it's just one person it'll be worth it - thanks for posting this :)
-
Woah. These are definitely gonna get trialled sometime!
-
Thanks for all the pointers everyone - these ideas are super helpful, I've stocked my fridge up on various things like cottage cheese :) Oooh, black bean brownies? Do tell!
-
Hmm, yeah - cottage cheese and egg sounds like a good idea. :)
-
Yes, but you should be wary and make sure you get enough calcium / nutrients / etc.

Having recovered from anorexia recently, and knowing there are others on the site with EDs, I find the red numbers VERY triggering, and feel a sort of anorexic-like happiness when ONLY I see the "congrats!" green when under calorie goal numbers, despite having "gain weight" as a goal. Which isn't good when I'm trying to…
