  • Ever heard of Debbie Meyer "Green Bags"? They are one of those "As Seen on TV" things...I buy them at Target. They work to extend the life of berries, apples and slow the ripening of bananas.....love them!
  • I have a sweet tooth and lately I want caramel corn, bad I know! LOL...but I am finding myself baking with the cooler weather coming and trying to make sure I do something with some fiber and nuts so that I at least get some healthy nutrients. Toasted Oatmeal Cookies have been in the cookie jar lately and pumpkin bran…
  • I think the key, like others have said is balance and portion control vs. elimination of any food. Baby red potatoes have a lower glycemic impact that regular white potatoes, so I try to use them when I just have to have a potato side, eating quinoa salads for a little meal while on midnight shift and it really stays with…
  • Most diet pills have a stimulant effect, which will temporarily stoke your energy level and suppress your appetite. But in the long run you have to realize that you will have to keep increasing the dosage to get the same effect as when you started and deal with unhealthy side effects. Using stimulants is like taking a loan…
  • You might want to start with a half tablespoon and see how your digestive tract reacts and the numbers on your scale. Some people end up having some issues with loose stools and would have to build up to an amount such as 3 TBS a day! But you should also remember that you need to cut back on other sources of fat in your…
  • Bump.....my loss is stalled with intake staying at 1350 calories a day. Definitely plan to thoroughly look at these in depth guidelines and recalculate everything! Thanks for the post, the journey toward a healthy life is a constant learning experience for me and I do appreciate the positive people here on MFP.
  • Love the Alton Brown oven method....fool proof and perfect every time. I sometimes substitute broth for part of the water or add parsley, garlic or onion powder to give it more dimension and make a batch and a half or double it for later in the week, since I am running the oven anyway!
  • Bump for later
  • My tummy is a point of frustration to me too! I have lost 20 pounds since Feb and have lost a great deal in my tummy, I know I should be taking my measurements but have just been weighing in, but it is visually noticeable now which is nice! Usually they say the place you put it on first takes the longest to lose, so be…

  • I find I get that way if I don't have enough lean protein....some days are just like that though, especially when the hormones get squirrley! Find something low cal to munch, red bell peppers strips have been my favorites lately! :flowerforyou:

  • Yes, I do better with a little more protein, stay full longer and feel less bloated than when I am leaning heavier on carbs. I reset my ratio in MFP to 30 percent protein because I was seeing that column red all of the time! I think that as I journey through I may have to switch those percentages again, should I began to…

  • Just watched my DVR Biggest Loser today and said the same thing, knew others on here had to be thinking the same thing. No way! She looked gaunt and dehydrated to me.....I figured something isn't on the up and up there!
  • I have had Hashimoto's thyroiditis for over 20 years, body attacks the thyroid making you hypothyroid. The weight is a struggle always, but ask your doctor about Armor Thyroid, it is a natural form of thyroid hormone dessicated porcine (pig) thyroid and more closely mirrors the ratio of T3 to T4 that we normally need. When…
  • Thinking about it myself. Any books or websites you can recommend that are a must read to get started? Thanks Lorlei

  • Add the fiber to your tracked nutrients and aim for at least 25 grams per day! My belly has gone down a lot since I have increased the fiber. Also cardio (I have been walking minimum 3 miles/day) and power yoga have helped with my core all together! Good luck to you!
  • Okay...I need to step it up and the support will be great! Add me too please...... I am going to start today!
  • Bump...the possibilities are endless!

  • Just another person with what I call Social Tourettes, people who want to talk to someone and blurt out something inappropriate or insulting, I have an aunt like that! Shoot it might have been her! LOL.....forget about it or use it to fuel your next work out. Remember you have accomplished something fabulous, bringing a…
  • Go to Cooking Light web site and find the stuffed cabbage soup recipe. I use ground turkey and brown rice, so filling, yummy and a calorie bargain.
