  • My soft spot is for Insanity. I love that it's got some cardio and strength mixed and that I'm dripping wet after every workout even in 40 mins or less. And I love that I can do it anywhere. I bring it on vacation with me even!! I've done P90X as well and I did like it but I was struggling feeling like weights were…
  • It's not an easy topic especially for those that just don't understand. They eat, they poop. Rinse, Repeat. I highly suggest more water. My minimum is 3 Liters and a Gallon or more on major sweat days (cardio/strength). Water is a HUGE impact on things. Also I highly suggest trying magnesium. Now... weight. Weight can…
  • I love my Garmin HRM!! I use it for Insanity at home and then I have a Garmin GPS HRM for my outdoor runs. It's all about exertion. Me doing 10 min miles isn't a huge exertion, but using the treadmill's calculation or MFP's and they say I burned so many calories. Usually at least 100+ over what my HRM really says.
  • I'm on Day 9! And I'm doing it on top of my half marathon running schedule. needless to say, getting my *kitten* kicked!!! Go Insanity!
  • BIG_Lew!!! Oh wait - that's you! I would nominate you! You motivate us daily and are always so positive! Go Lew!
  • Was checking out your diary and as another had said - you are pushing your sugars daily. have you tried changing the way you eat? I highly suggest getting more protein in your diet. It's burning up on the sugar and your not giving your muscles what it really wants to eat. Other possibilities? what kind of workouts are you…
  • Crap. I'm a runner and I don't think I've posted my shoes on here. Let me work on it. I have red ones, purple ones and fuchsia & yellow ones. They def deserve to be showcased. You need to know how cool my way of life of running is. Thank you for letting me know that I def wasn't a runner yet bc my shoes have not been…
  • Def get checked on to know how you run. Be careful of some stores because some people don't seem as knowledgeable as others. So ask around. With that said, don't be afraid to try out a few kinds. I've recently changed to a minimalist shoe (Brooks) in their pure line and I love them. While technically based on how I was…
  • http://www.questproteinbar.com/ they are about $2 a bar, you get them online. The flavors are great. 20 g of protein and some are under 200 calories. I know you said "prefer" on the nut free, but didn't know if that was a must. I think they use like pb and almond butters. But they are my go to bars and I love them. They…
  • I also suggest Meetup.com or maybe look into volunteering activities in your local community?? Maybe rather than focus on a relationship, you focus on yourself and bettering yourself not only physically but also emotionally. Sometimes giving back helps you get out there, meet new people in a different setting and see what…
  • You look awesome! Way to go!!
  • I was shooting for 2 pounds under the "happy weight" so I guess I'm on the right track. However, I've been doing a ton of strength/weight training lately. I've been losing inches but that scale hasn't moved in a month. So not sure if I'll ever get to that happy weight.
  • I was 11, and it was behind a pizza parlor. He had been my "boyfriend" for almost 2 months so it seemed like the important thing to do. It was quick and chaste - but always remembered. The best first kiss is from my current BF though. The first date went really well, but he was so quiet and almost shy. I kind of wondered…
  • I've never been a soda girl, not since I was a kid anyways. But I did cut out coffee the last few years. I'll throw in a nonfat latte every few weeks as a treat but else I drink green tea with 2 Stevia packets 2x a day. Def not easy if you drink several cups a day.

  • After starting boot camp, I gained an inch in my thighs in like 2 weeks. 2 weeks later I lost 1/2 an inch and they seem to be slowly going down. So Ya, it's a mix of building up that muscle and water retention. It's kind of like the scale, sometimes you go up before you go down. :)
  • Suffered from IBS-C since I was 10, so I probably know more about this "crap" than I care to. Miralax daily helps. Water is crucial and exercise. Fruits and fiber are very good too. I'm not a big coffee drinker but I do have 2 cups of green tea every day and I think it helps. I take Fish Oil in liquid form - but I can't…
  • My boyfriend is the biggest baby in the cold. So I tell him not to go to the colder races (especially if they are only 5k's) - but he goes to all non winter runs or if I tell him it's an important race. Assuming he's in town. He's a pilot and sometimes his bids suck and he doesn't get a weekend off. He said he might start…
  • I use a Garmin FR70 for my bootcamp and I find it very accurate. If you lift in a HIIT type setting, it would still be pretty accurate as you get your heart rate up and going. In my bootcamp, I burn anywhere from 600-900 calories in an hour and that includes strength training. But we make sure we keep our heart rates high.…
  • You look great! What matters is really how you feel in them. So you have to realize you look good and then when you feel like you look good, it will be obvious when you walk into a room. It's all about how you carry yourself. So Rock It!!!
  • You look great!!! Amazing how much weight loss shows in our faces!!
  • You look great!!! Congrats on finishing and on having the courage to share!!
  • I agree with the bodyrock.tv - they kick your booty. Also HIIT can be done at home. Combine things like burpees, bicep curls, mountain climbers, plank pushups, side planks, squat jumps, squat with knee raises, and other strength things at home. Do for 20-30 seconds each with 10 seconds rest between before you start the…
  • Lord is this true. I grew up with boys and found a love for male friends. I'm not skinny, I will never be skinny, but I'm fit. I run a lot, I do a lot of boot camp, jillian, and plan to start cross fit this summer. I'm always looking for the next challenge. sure I'd like to maybe tone up a bit and drop a few inches, but…
  • I've been looking at all my people I've been doing group fitness with and most of them are just ACE certified. I think I may have to start looking into this path. Everyone else says I should just start having kids, but I think certifications sound more exciting at this point! :)
  • I've had my fitbit for about 5 weeks now and also love it!! While it's 'mileage' is not accurate for purposes of my runs - and therefore I use a Garmin to track mileage of my runs - I really focus it on purpose of steps and 'activity' - it knows when I'm being really active and/or when I'm leisurely walking the dog. It…
  • I suggest to take a class right away to get the momentum going. If you pay for something, you're more likely to go. I was already getting up several days a week, but recently started a bootcamp at 6am MWF, so on those days, I'm at the gym by 5:35 doing my warm up jog before class. Otherwise I suggest a workout buddy.…
  • You guys are amazing and I appreciate all the info! I def know that a bunch of crunches is not the way to get rid of it. I've never been an overly big girl, I topped out at a size 8, so I don't think it's loose skin.... so just got to keep burning up that fat!! I'm thinking I may do Jillian's DVD's this summer. I'm…
  • You look amazing!! What a transition in life that must be. And to know there is nothing that you can't do!!! Keep up the incredible journey and see what else life has to offer now that nothing is holding you back!!
  • Name - Brian Relationship - Boyfriend Physical - Cutest smile, beautiful eyes and these amazing legs. I love tracing along his muscles when we're sitting next to each other! Non Physical - he's not a mushy guy, but quite romantic. He gives the best hugs, never gets upset about much of anything and he puts up with my crazy…
