  • You can't go wrong with anything Polar. I have the Polar FT60 and while it's a little more than I need, it's awesome. Love it.
  • If you're only having this pain during exercise, it's probably just exercise related transient abdominal pain (aka side stitch, but using big words makes me feel smart, haha). It's caused by contractions in your liver or spleen and while it's painful, it's harmless. To prevent these, make sure you properly warm up and…
  • I agree - sounds like turf toe. Try taking some anti-inflammatories (Advil, Aleve, Ibuprophen, etc) and give the running a rest until this subsides. Try other options like swimming, biking, or elliptical, anything that avoids the constant impact on the ball of your foot. Good luck!
  • I've done it both ways, and have gotten about the same results. I generally do not eat back exercise calories. If I end up eating more and using some of the extra cals then so be it, no damage done. I just try to consume around 1200 cals a day, even if my net isn't that high after exercise.
  • Unfortunately I'd say the Polar HRM is more accurate assuming you have the settings correctly set to your age, weight, activity level, etc.
  • There are plenty of sugar free additives like Mio, Crystal Light, DaVinci, etc. They make water much more enjoyable, however they aren't as good for you as good old plain water. However, with that being said, if flavored waters keep you away from sodas (even diet) then it's a step in the right direction. Make yourself do…
  • Very well done! Congrats to you and it's always inspiring to see hard work paying off for someone. Way to stick with a plan!
  • Sounds like it could possibly be low blood sugar. Have you ever had that problem before? Was anything else different, like temperature, not eating as much that day before a workout, etc. After you stopped the workout, ate some bread, had some water, and took a shower, did the dizziness subside? If so, I think it's simply…
  • Almonds, fiber bars, snack size popcorn
  • Never tried them personally but don't waste your $. It's about eating right and exercising. As always, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
  • I am NOT adorning person. But I prefer to workout first thing every day. Gives me energy for the day and also doesn't give me a chance to find an excuse not to go to the gym in the evening. With that being said, 90% of the time I end up working out in the evening due to work and family schedule. But if I had the choice it…
  • I personally haven't given up anything. To me it's more about portion control and good choices. I very rarely (almost never) eat fried foods. Minimize carbs. Cut way back on sodas and wine/beer. I drink lots of water and tea. I think the key to success is committing to something you will stick with forever and not just…
  • Wow, truly amazing. I admire your hard work and dedication. Your success is remarkable. Perfect example of how anyone can do it with the right mindset! Kudos to you!
  • Post on yesterday's diary, don't carry over to today
  • Very inspiring. Great job. Congrats on your success!
  • I listen to 'Push It' by Static X. It's harder than I normally like but I love it for working out. I also listen to Disturbed, Rammstein, Mudvayne, and Korn to name a few. Kinda makes me angry but I work out best when I'm mad!!
  • I'm not an expert but it sounds like your doc isn't giving you much feedback, so here is my advice. First, drink lots of water. It's important. Eat low fat low cal foods (there are so many options) and focus on whole grains. Lean meats like turkey and chicken are your best choices. As far as the gym goes, I'd start with 30…
  • Bgeer34 - I've not had any problems with it setting in stains. I've soaked for 30 mins after a game to get ready for next day. Add a little scrubbing with a rag and degreaser and it worked great. Still better with iron out than it was without!
  • I have an 8 yo son who plays 3 sports so I spend lots of time at the field/court. It's rough on a schedule that's for sure! Takes serious planning. I try to work out at least 5 days a week. If I can schedule these off days around ball games I do that. If not I will work out before work, and yes, that means EARLY. I always…
  • Rock music, the harder and faster the better.
  • Try doing some activities that are easier on your ankle. Stationary bike is a good one, swimmimg, yoga, things of this type. Avoid treadmill and elliptical until ankle feels better.
  • That's Truly amazing! Congrats on a job well done!
  • Being a Mom, wife, and working full time is very difficult for a workout routine. For me it's a matter of making it a habit. After years of using my family and career as an excuse, I decided it was MY turn. You can fit it in. You just have to tell yourself you're going to make time for it and then fit it in to your crazy…
  • I agree with some other posts. I have the Sketchers and while I don't know if I buy the hype on toning, they sure are the most comfortable workout shoes I've ever worn. I have bad feet and have stopped workouts in the past due to foot pain. I have NEVER had stopped from foot pain with these shoes. In that regard, I'd…
  • Great job! Exercising and eating right changes your life, not just your weight. That's wonderful - keep working hard. Thanks for sharing your NSV!
