Eat your calories, your weight loss is already built in. Everyone who says this I find it's because they don't eat their calories. I don't believe in "starvation mode" but I sure believe in eat more to weigh less.

Runner's World says that for running 1 mile, you can estimate your calories burned by multiplying your body weight by .63, so for you running a mile would burn 157 calories. So 800 calories would be equivalent to running over 5 miles. This is so exaggerated it's kind of silly.

30 is soooo young. I am 44 and sure wish I would have done something more. If you can afford it, and your instinct is to do it, then go for it. Just remember the later you start working & saving, the later you get to retire, that's the only thing. If you'll make a lot more, it can offset it.

No chance of getting it in over the weekend? Like a hotel room treadmill, or early morning run wherever you'll be? If not, just fit it in when you can. This is why I don't like schedules.

What? NO! I just entered a recipe I made last night, made (5) 1 cup servings, 128 calories each and I even added a whole cup of greek yogurt AND Protein Powder. A ton haha. Probably 1900-2000 calories a day, but I'm running 45 miles per week. I cheat a lot on weekends! :)

As longs as you are fueled well beforehand, you should not need a gel or any food for a 1/2 marathon. If you do take one, be sure to drink plenty of water with it. I agree the gel flask would be best.

It takes awhile for your body to get used to the cold, but it really should be easier after that. Colder usually equals much less humidity. Try to get out as often as you can so your body becomes accustomed to it.

As the song goes, it ain't never gonna, never gonna, never gonna happen. I can run 40+ miles a week and gain weight. You say you will eat 2000, or 2500, but if you don't watch it, it's crazy easy to eat waaaay over that. Esp if you're working out a ton, which makes you killer hungry. Doing both is so much easier.

It can be the opposite. One of you needs to be a good influence. My boyfriend (now husband) smoked up to 2 packs a day when we met. Now he's a runner.
