  • Hell yeah, I class a protein shake as a meal whilst others would class it as a snack. In terms of protein absorption, Dr Layne Norton has said that his data has suggested eating ~5 meals a day. There is a great slideshow on it.
  • Fantastic thread. All I'm gonna say is: At the moment, it's currently inconclusive as to whether eating 5-6 (or w/e) meals is optimal for MUSCLE GAIN. It's been proven that it doesn't matter for fat loss. According to Alan Aragon, there are short term studies that suggest more doses of protein (spread throughout the day)…

  • Crikey. Really sorry to hear about the ex :( I'm too inexperienced in life to make a comment about the whole situation but it sounds like you're doing great moving on, good luck with that. As for the diet, you're in control. Don't let things mess with your diet! You have complete control over that and the only person who…
  • I don't even know what to say. http://www.leangains.com/2010/10/top-ten-fasting-myths-debunked.html
  • Over my dead body would I go by food on here without checking it.
  • I couldn't even imagine eating bread on a 1200 calorie diet :P
  • Don't mention diet unless you're willing to go toe to toe with the person about it haha.
  • Yo bro. This site is great for general mass loss but it's crap for body builders. Tracking measurements, logging reps (negatives, assisted reps / cheat reps etc.) there is nowt. I'm working on something as a body builders alternative so be sure to send me a friend request and I'll let you know when the application is up…
  • LOL OP I'm coming from a body builder perspective. The reason you dun goofed was the 800 calories over and the 500 calories over days. Everyone does it, I mean I'm going out on thursday, getting sloshed and will end up with a kebab. If you want to pig out, do the exercise to earn it. Don't settle for going 800 over because…
  • Gain muscle whilst losing fat. Body recomposition bro. Now, **** the scales. Go by the mirror + your diet plan. If you're eating well, don't worry about the scales because they'll only deter or screw you over (when it's bad), of course they're your best friend when it's good. Where did you go wrong with your eating and…
  • To get used to an assisted set on 110kg bench
  • I didn't see this post! 100% agree, people listen to people and it's really scientific research from qualified people you need to listen to! @Thread starter - Hope your brother is okay and I hope it's an easy fix (such as cutting out the artificial sugars as he has suggested).
  • You say he figured it out? Is he a doctor specialising in artificial sweeteners? My point being, you can't just go by what people say. I've read articles on artificial sweeteners but I've never read anything on pubmed. I drink pepsi max and I have no troubles (headache etc) and I agree with the person who said how rats are…
  • Good point. On my bulk base I have 2 peanut butter sandwiches a day (and it doesn't hurt to add jam!). I love them. I've only had 2 teaspoons of peanut butter today, I just seem to completely ghost bread at times.... I also find rich tea biscuits to be good if I want a snack LOL
  • Oooo bell peppers haha I never heard them being called that so I had to google (teenage naivety I guess) and yes I love to chop them up and eat them, any colour :) Hahah for low calories or just as like a thing? I do peanut butter with jam (UK) well I used to and yep, they are fantastic, I agree!
  • The only reason you'd be yelled at is if that was broscience but if it's legit, proven stuff you're saying, then you won't be shouted at, considering everyone in this thread so far has been giving opinions as opposed to facts.
  • Protein amount wise MyProtein Whey Isolated (fantastic amount and low calories, probably the best stuff I've had nutrition wise) Taste Wise Reflex Instant Whey (Deluxe). Absolutely love the strawberry taste but it's only nice with milk!
  • It'll just have slowed it down a tad. If you go back to your usual counting, it will bring it back down to normal. If you're that concerned you could always do some exercise and not eat the calories back haha
  • Too many carbs = more than your body needs. Go back to my original response and see how this has been taken way out of what I was originally saying lol. I said having too much protein is better than having too many carbs (key words being too many) and it's perfectly good advice. I do hear the resistance training points and…
  • "If you don't have enough carbs in the form of glycogen in the muscles or glucose available from what you've eaten recently, then the body breaks down protein to convert it to glucose/glycogen to fuel glycolysis." That's if you don't have enough carbs. I (nor the thread starter) said anything about not having the required…
  • Get them to sit on your back and do push ups!
  • Oh, on the contrary, if we're talking about which carbohydrates are "better" for your body in terms of things like nutrients / vitamins and what not (things I've spent little time researching) then I agree, chocolate bar carbs etc are bad. But a calorie is a calorie and a carb is a carb right? My point wasn't that carbs…
  • Well yes, obviously I was talking relatively. On a diet that has a primary goal of fat loss, I'd rather have too much protein than too many carbohydrates. Wouldn't you?
  • I was talking about having too many carbs, not cutting them out completely.
  • Ahh, thread starter, I hope you read this. Atkins isn't that fantastic. Please please please read into CKD aka Cyclic Ketogenic Diet. The idea is that you're on atkins for 5.5 days a week and 1.5 days are spent carbing up. Carbing up is where you CAN go off the rails, eat what the hell you want. It's mainly a bodybuilding…
  • I'm incredibly active on bodybuilding forum and I've never heard anyone speak of almond butter. I would've thought that if it was that superior, it would be mentioned quite often. I personally love peanut butter and I can't imagine almond butter tasting better..
  • It depends on the layout I guess. When I'm at work, I'll often do tricep dips between the corner and do a full set. You could do calf work so you go on tip toes, then down again, then up again, then down again. Hmm.
  • I take in 200g protein a day roughly. Having a decent amount of protein is fine, it's the carbs you gotta worry about right :P
