  • I have scar tissue from c-sections and have suffered from adhesions (painful pulling sensation). I go to a massage therapist and she tortures me and works some of it out and I feel a ton better after. It also makes my scar and what I affectionately call my c-section "shelf" much more flat and normal looking once it is…
  • you can never go wrong with eggs! they can be quick and easy or gourmet! I like to dice up veggies on the weekend when I have time so that I can do a quick scramble when I am busy during the week. or if I don't have time I just throw some eggs in a pan with some olive oil and we are good to go!
  • I am a 35 year old librarian in Wyoming :) feel free to add me!
  • Zone out, solve the world's problems :) it is my time to let go of all the crummy stuff from the day and just relax. Often I work through my biggest issues and problems on a run or at least come up with the best solutions! I am lucky to live in a rural area so I don't need music to drown out noise and can just enjoy being…
  • I just signed up for my first one that will be this summer, I am excited and have no idea what to expect!
  • Since the fitbit does not have a HRM and just does an average according to your info you put in, I feel like my Garmin is a much more accurate count of the calories I burn while running so I use those numbers instead. The fitbit does subtract them from the total so it isn't adding the same calorie burn twice. Plus I have…
  • I ignore them too. I use a HRM for my exercise and feel that the fitbit calories added are just my daily activity too which is already calculated into MFP. I like using my fitbit to be accountable to myself and my goal of being more active every day, and it is a great motivator! If I didn't have my garmin running watch…
  • I will buy Kashi cereal, (go lean crunch is a favorite) and measure out all the portions into baggies to have as an afternoon snack without milk but usually with a cup of decaf :).
  • Unless you know the exact calorie content of everything you eat and weigh and measure everything too, it is pretty easy to be off by 30-100 calories doing estimates. I always try to stay fairly close to my goal and just know that it isn't exact. But I also can't do 1200/day since I would get so focused on the number and…

  • Just my 2 cents! First I have 2 small children that have bedtime snacks every night or they are up at midnight starved. So every night I have to make the choice not to eat whatever it is they are having. Sometimes dad makes them popcorn, or there is muffins, cookies, you name it for them to choose from. Most the time I…
  • I did 9 weeks if P90X just this winter and I gained weight doing it! I know it was muscle since I am generally just a runner, but it was still frustrating. I had to realize that P90X wasn't for me, so now that the weather is better I a back to running and much happier! My husband did it with me and he lost and felt much…
  • I am a library media specialist in a high school.
  • Good luck...I did the same thing almost 5 years ago when I got married. It worked great and I was still doing wonderful on my weight loss journey after I got married, that is until I was pregnant a month after the wedding!!! Even though I was 6 sizes bigger than I am today, I still felt and looked beautiful in my dress and…
  • I have the same issue when I travel. I have kind of decided though since we do not travel often that splurging one weekend here or there with family is okay. I know it isn't going to completely derail me, and most of the time I will feel so crapy from it that it will motivate me for some time afterwards! I just know that…
  • I did that with girl scout cookies yesterday, I was giving the kids some and was going to have a couple too, but flipped the box around and looked at the calories and put the box away. I was not going to waste 160 calories on a couple of little cookies! It is amazing how just looking first will change how much you eat of…

  • my chocolate lab has learned what a sports bra is so I have to sneak to put one on if I am not taking her running because she goes so crazy. She runs around the house going in circles, running over the kids, and acting like a puppy even though she is 5 years old! I don't dare put on my running shoes for any other activity…
  • There is something about seeing the numbers in myfitnesspal that kept me motivated. I never wanted to see a day that went over my alotted number of calories! It can be quite addicting! I would even log my exercise before I did it because when I added all my food it was of course over since I knew I would gain exercise…
  • That would probably be a great start. I have always found that the eliptical hurts my knees after just a few minutes so don't ever do that, it is funny how everyone is different and can do different activities!
  • My first was a preemie, so when I got pregnant the second time I didn't do anything out of the crazy fear that something bad would happen so of course gained 70 pounds! Now of course I wish I had been more active and kept running, but my mind wouldn't let me! I totally see why you wouldn't want to risk being in pain again,…
  • I know, getting the weight off is only half the battle, getting the tone back is much harder! Fortunately I am a runner so that has helped, but it would have been much better to not be a total slug while I was pregnant! Plus my body seems to have reproportioned after this baby. The body does some crazy things.
  • I got rid of all but my last 8 in the first 6 months, those last 8 though won't go away!! My baby turns 1 March 6th and I don't think they will be gone by then even:( I finally decided my scale was broke and just won't go below 138!!! Ok, so maybe not, but it makes me feel better to think that and at least I can wear my…
  • I would log them as calories, while not all calories are created equal, they are still calories. Besides 60 calories a day equals 420 a week...to me 420 calories is a big deal!
  • I am going to have to try these. I love chinese food too and I have been avoiding making stir-frys that had noodles in them because of how fast they add up, thanks for the suggestion!
  • I recomend putting all your numbers into mfp and letting that do the work. It will tell you how many calories you should be eating and stay at that number, if you exercise, eat back those calories. Just keep putting in everything you eat and all your exercise and it should work out. Good luck
  • After the holidays I did have to spend a week in chocolate sweet detox. I didn't allow any for about a week and then I was ok with having a piece now and then. My coworkers and I stash a couple bags of bite size chocolate in the cupboard in the lounge and each have one after our lunch every day at work. It seems to help us…
  • My husband also takes the left overs for his lunch, so I do cans of soup, lean cuisines, smart ones, or I make extra left overs for me. Like grilling an extra chicken breast to put on a salad the next day. I will often modify some of the leftovers for me, like I will send taco stuff with my husband and just bring stuff for…

  • I absolutely cannot stand it either, I finally decided that I was not going to torture myself with something I do not like just because it is good for me. I eat very healthy otherwise so figure not having fish or yogurt (which I can't stand either) is not that big of a deal! I tried to make it many different ways and if…
  • if you just google kettlebell, you will find a ton of info on them. They are a type of free weight that lookes like a ball with a handle for doing strength training. For me they make lifting a little bit more fun since I really do hate lifting weights.
  • The first time I did kettle balls I thought I was going to die 2 days later! As long as you can do the exercise correctly than the weight shouldn't be to much, but if you have to break form to do it, then the weight is to heavy. They are a killer, I like having a good hurt after a workout, but that was almost past the good…
