  • I'll be thinking about you when I try for my 4 miles again today. Let us know how it went.
  • I got up at 5:50 and did my 3 1/2 miles. I thought about cutting it short but then I would have to tell y'all about it  . You are all inspiring.
  • Congratulations!:drinker: :drinker:
  • My normal run is 3 1/2 miles but I am trying to increase it to 4. I run at different times of the day and live in Portland, OR so it is usually mild weather if a bit misty. Do you recommend a particular type/brand of water holder?
  • It is great to see you all get your run in today, especially the early am ones. I know it feels so good for the rest of the day. Today is my day off but I plan on getting up to run by 6 am. I don't carry water with me. I carry a CD player in my left hand and my cell phone in my right (I am a nurse midwife.) so I'm not sure…
  • Shannon, Congratulations! After breaking my 3 1/2mile plateau yesterday I thought I could do 4 miles again today. While I completed my course (what choice did I have, I was 2 miles away from home, )I felt terrible mid way through and walked for 10 min. Still, I earned my barbecue calories.
  • I did 4 miles today and finally broke my 3 1/2 mile plateau.
  • Did my 3 1/2 miles today. I'd mapped out a 4 mile run but coudn't seem to break my plateau of 3 1/2.
  • I finally got to run today after a 3 day marine biology camping trip with my son and @ 70 other 6th graders. I went 3 3/4 mi in 40 min. Talk about stress relief!
  • I was hoping to run early this morning after my early run and bike commute yesterday. But... one of my twins caught the nasty GI bug that my other twin had last week. :frown: I still hope to get a run in this afternoon when DD naps.
  • I did 3 1/2 miles and was home by 6:22. It is supposed to get really hot here today so I am glad I got up early before the sun was up.
  • Ali, I love your signature. I also have an autistic son and it amazes me how some people can be so compassionate and others so cruel to him (and me!)
  • I jogged about 4 miles this morning and maybe I imagined it but all the Mom's who were running on my route seemed extra happy. I felt quite a sense of camraderie too. Happy Mother's Day!
  • There is one big hill about 1 1/2 mi into my usual nieghborhood route. What helped me was burning a music CD that helped me pace better before the hill. For the hill I have a song with a slower steady beat that I could concentrate on, instead of my huffing and puffing, LOL! At first when I really struggled I would focus on…
  • I jog while my kids are at soccer practice, since you are at a park already....
  • I admit to being a closet DDRer too. I am not very good - my 14, 11 and 8 year olds can blow me out of the water but I can do better than my 4 year olds, LOL! I can usually pass most songs on Light and I get a decent work out on days when it is too cold and rainy for me to jog.
  • While I agree that every woman's body is different and may use different calorie amounts daily for breastfeeding It is not my experience that OBGYNs (or anyone else for that matter) would be able to tell you exactly how many calories you are burning. The average is 500 cal/day for exclusive breastfeeding. Usually when…
  • Well, you may be able to loose weight but I would guess you would soon become sick and sooner become and remain hungry. I limit carbs somewhat because those are the foods that I can eat waaay too much of. Nearly all of my carbs are whole grain and I pair them with a good protein food. If I must have some chocolate I get a…
  • I agree with diannholland1965. Going to your healthcare should be a positive experience. We are challenged with this in our own family. My husband has some health problems and two physicians he saw at a very vulnerable time were were outright rude. He has finally found someone with more compassion that he can work with. I…
  • I just bicycled home from work and it was so neat to see the eclipse and all of the people watching and photographing it. I've never seen so many tripods, LOL!
  • I use organic half n half which is really yummy and filling. It is 40 calories per oz and I use 2 oz per morning in 2 cups of coffee and occasionally have 1-2 additional cups.
  • Increasing intake by 300 cal/day is usually recommended during pregnancy.

  • The standard answer is 500 cal per baby. Do be mindful that as your baby starts weaning that calories used will decrease. There is @ 20 cal/ oz in term human milk plus some more used in making it. I don't count anything for my twins now since they are 4 LOL!
