  • I have always been confused about how mfp calculated things. However, I do know that if you want to lose 2 lbs a week, you have to burn 1,000 calories (500 for 1 lb) below your total daily energy expenditure. TDEE is the amount of calories you burn in a 24 hr period. They have calculators online, but I don't know how…
  • Heart rate monitors are never a bad decision. Even after you lose the 15, it can be a great tool for maintenance. I love mine and would be lost with out it.
  • Such a sad situation. As much as you don't want to deal with leaving him, it will happen eventually if he continues to treat you like crap. A person can only take so much. You deserve so much better than that. I would just do it now before he damages your kids too. Better sooner than later especially if you guys aren't…
  • Keeps me sane and focused to have a cheat meal once a week. I just had one yesterday and my weigh in this morning was still awesome.
  • Five hundred is my target for each day. It normally takes an hour maybe more depending on how hard I am working. Elliptical is the best way, in my opinion, to burn at least 500 in an hour if not more. I do eat a little more because I can't help myself. When I burn that many calories I am hungry.
  • Yay! I am hoping the next time I get on the scale I will be in the 150's. Last time I was so close. Good job :)
  • Try punching, legs hip width apart and just punch in the air. You can try cross punches, upper cuts, hooks, whatever you are comfortable with. It doesn't require you to move your lower body yet gets your heart rate up. That is what I would do with my mother in law who had really bad knees.
  • I just started that about 2 weeks ago. The first time was a killer. It took me 3 days to do it again. There was absolutely no way I was able to do it 2 days in a row. Now I do it every other day and do cardio in between. I don't like to do strength training when I am already sore, it feels like I am going injure myself and…
  • I am all about the "if it fits in your macros" concept. If you make healthier choices you can eat more but every once in a while if a burger fits with in my calorie range, I am going to eat it. Don't make anything off limits because you will never stay satisfied.
  • I only weight myself every few weeks. If I don't see big jumps I get discouraged so I force myself to wait at least 3 or 4 weeks maybe even longer so I can see a difference. It seems to keep me more motivated than when I would do it once a week. I do measure myself often though. I have replaced the scale with a tape…
  • Much agreed! My husband tried to convince me to lift weights for years and it wasn't until recently that I started to listen. I was one of those girls that did not want to look masculine. Since I have started, my waist is only 2 inches away from my smallest size yet I am much heavier in pounds than I was back then. I say…
  • I finally broke down, bought one, and absolutely love it! MFP gives you a great estimation but it is not always accurate. Turned out I was not burning as many calories as I thought. Since I have gotten it I have seen better results. I got mine at big 5, someone can help you find one that fits you best.
  • I am a stay at home mom of a 3.5 year old and 6 month old. Feel free to add me!
  • Love this! I'm not the only one. My husband thinks I am crazy with my measuring cups, spoons, and food scale.
  • I was wondering the same thing last night, so I marked it in my calendar. Good way to keep me motivated for 5 weeks to see if it does work because I ate pretty good yesterday and I liked what the number was.
  • Good job!! I am a drinker myself and alcohol has been the one thing holding me back on my ultimate goals. I have been good lately and only letting myself drink once a week on my cheat days. Sometimes it bites me because I get so excited that I end up drinking too much and have a hangover the next day. Moderation is a good…
  • You look so good! Very inspirational. I can't wait to post my own success story someday.
  • I am pretty new to adding friends too, so feel free to add me.
  • My husband has never had weight issues and can watch me work out and lose a couple pounds. With that said, he refuses to eat the same things as me. When he sees me eating something healthy, he is almost guaranteed to say it looks disgusting. I do all the cooking so I still have to make these delicious meals and cannot join…
  • It is always so much easier when the husband is on board. Unfortunately, mine is as skinny as a rail and I have always had trouble keeping my weight below his.
  • I had to adjust a bunch of things too at first. MFP suggested 1400 cals for me, I would never eat as many carbs as suggested, and I would always go over on my fat and protein. I would try to follow it as much as possible but I was not seeing any results. Once I stopped obsessing over my numbers is when I started to see the…
  • Jean sizes defiantly changed for me after two kids and two c sections. Fitting into a bigger size is much better looking than squeezing into a smaller one.
  • I know how that goes! It is really hard to keep on track when you are so busy with school and work. When I was in school and working, I gained 40 lbs, lost 10 and then got pregnant with my son. With that said I am trying to work off college lbs plus baby weight from two pregnancies. I am done having kids, I am out of…
  • Thanks everyone! I do have to cut myself a little slack because of the holidays. I do tend to be a little hard on myself. Everyone is right and I am very aware that you cant see results in 1 week but I thought just maybe. This is why I don't weigh myself weekly, I just get too discouraged. Thanks for the support and I did…
  • I can see a difference. You looked good before but the lifting defiantly toned you up and you still look very feminine. Great work! You look awesome.
  • You look amazing! I started in October and will not only survive the holiday season but lose during it. Very motivating.
  • I carry my weight in my belly as well so I have had people ask me the same thing. After I had my daughter I actually had my Grandma ask me if they got all the babies out of there and if I was sure it wasn't twins. The other day though, she said "Wow, it looks like you are starting to get your shape back, good for you". So…
  • I used mfp with my second pregnancy and exercised almost everyday until I had my daughter. I still gained more than I wanted but I still was with in a healthy weight gain range. I did much better than my first pregnancy where I did not track food at all and was a balloon afterwards. Mfp is defiantly a good idea.
  • I weight myself on Fridays. Cheat day is Sat or Sun. Last Friday was 1 lb and this Friday was also 1 lb, 8 all together. Its a start :)
  • Thank you! This will help to spark some motivation.
