I started running to help encourage a friend who said she would like to start. I never liked running, it wasn't my thing. We did the Couch to 5K app (which is wonderful). I would run at my house and she would run at her house and then we'd talk about how exhausing it was but couldn't wait until the next training day. Then…

I completely agree! When it said run... I tried to sprint. I realized to start out slow.. pace yourself. You can work on speed later after you have built up your endurance. This is an amazing program. Stick with it and you'll be so glad you did. Happy running!

Scavenger hunts are always fun. You can set this up when the kids are occupied doing something else so it is a surprise for your son as well. Give each kid a bag and have the Birthday Boy read out each note telling the group here to go (i.e.: where we sit down to eat dinner, where we watch TV, where we brush our teeth).…

I believe what another poster said about getting your eating habits worked out. Even when we think we're eating "healthy" we realize when we plug in all the info we're eating above our macros (calories, fat, sugar, sodium, etc). Once you feel comfortable with logging food then incorporate exercise. I know it's hard to…

I wet the electrodes/chest strap right before each workout.

Sorry, one more idea because we are taking our kids to Disney next year as well... Shutterfly is offering free 8"x10" personalized calendars. Have it printed with the date you're leaving with a picture of the magic kingdom on the date. That way they have the calendar and can count the days until you go. That's what we're…

I wrote a poem to my kids and had my son (who is older) read it to my daughter. A Wonderful surprise is only moments away keeping it a secret wasn’t easy Mommy and Daddy love you so... And we know where you always ask to go Our coach is ready, so hurry, get dressed... We’re visiting Mickey, Minnie and all of the rest.…

Asking for help is never wrong! If you're able, I would buy a Heart Rate Monitor to truly know what calories you're burning during exercise. I love mine (Polar) and it doesn't feel uncomfortable in anyway while I'm exercising. I would also recommend getting a kitchen scale to weigh your food. I know it might be a pain at…

It's just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as it is a poor man. Needless to say, I didn't listen and I wouldn't change a thing!

Congratulations! What a liberating feeling! Think of all the shopping possibilities. Enjoy every moment...

I have been wanting to try this... THANK YOU for putting it all into one easy guide!

If you're like me, you might have used your vacation as your "motivation" to log and exercise. Now you've reached that goal so you don't have the same motivation. Set your next goal and use that as your motiviation to get back on track. Good Luck!

I love my scale as well. I'm not sure if all scales do this, but I bought a Pampered Chef scale and I can add an ingredient to the bowl and press a button which zeros out the scale so I can add the next ingredient without having to remove the first one. Huge time saver! Happy measuring everyone...

I too have run into this issue. I hate bugs as well, but I don't let it stop me from doing something I love. :) I'm not sure if you wear a helment when you ride, but maybe you can buy/make a clear plastic visor that covers your face so you can still see, it's clear so no one thinks you're going to mug them when you ride by…

My motivation started when I wanted to bring my family to Disney. I said to myself that I will book our next family trip to Disney when I lose 40 lbs. What started out as self motivation for me to lose the weight has transformed into a goal for the entire family. My husband has lost weight with me. My children are no…

Not sure if these would be available in your area, but there are Low Sodium Turkey and Low Sodium Krakus Ham. Which my entire family loves. If your local grocery store doesn't carry it then try talking to the Manager of the store/deli counter and see if they can order it for you. I agree with the other poster as well...…

Congratulations! What I love about C25K is that just when you think there's no way you'll be able to run "X" without stopping, you do! I completed C25K last summer. My son had football practice 3 days a week so those were the nights I ran around the football field. I even ran in the rain... LOL I ran my first 5k on…

I know it might be a little bit of a pain, but I would log everything you're eating on WW in on MFP to see how many calories you're actually consuming. Not to mention if you're having too much sugar from fruit which were zero points the last time I was on WW. I often wondered if I was getting enough calories. Since you can…

Chicago area... Two kids going to private grade school. My tuition is $483/mo (for both kids) or $5796/year. There are some manditory raffles and things like that throughout the year as well. That may seem like a lot, but when I priced out what it would cost for before and after school care at the public school I am…
