I am only 4' 11" , so I am positive 2000 to 2300 calories a day is way high. I do short runs and walks during the week and long runs on the weekend, so I'm not running as much as you think. My exercise will increase when I can get back on a bike. Maybe strength training would help, but I'm probably not going to do it. I…

The numbers do not include exercise calories. I've never eaten exercise calories back. I keep track of my exercise calories through Garmin/heart rate monitor, since MFP's figures are so off (too high). I had body analysis during my first weeks of weight loss and when i reached goal weight. I actually gained lean body mass…

Thanks, Mokey! I did that and my daily calorie goal went from 1200 to 1480! That's pretty close to what my body composition analysis estimated my resting metabolic rate to be, which was 1462 calories per day. BTW, I love your profile picture. I love to run and cycle.

Hi Glassgallm, I can relate to your goals, especially of running a 5K under 30 minutes. I won't ever be that fast, but I ran a 5K on my 60th birthday this year so I could set a new PR for my new age group. I ran 35:18. It sounds like you are doing amazing! I wish you great good fortune in all your efforts to be healthy and…

It was a surreal experience! Me: I've lost a lot of weight and I have no idea what size I am. Saleslady: You look like a size 6 to me. Me: Really? I've never worn that small a size in my life! Saleslady: Yes, really. I grab a size 6 dress, put it on, and look in the mirror down the hall in the dressing area. OMIGOD! I…

Sure. I will be starting training for the Santa Clarita Half Marathon very soon. I'm a member of the L.A. Leggers, a marathon training group in Santa Monica, California.

I will echo some of the other comments. It takes time to adapt to a new activity. Our bodies also need a sufficient recovery time. And it takes time doing any activity before you will notice results in stronger muscles and improved aerobic capacity. You can cycle every day, but alternate harder days with easier days, so…

I haven't worn anything dressy for a long time and was planning to go a meeting that I thought I should dress up a little bit for. When I went through my closet and put things on, everything was TOO BIG! I no longer fit into anything fancy. I wanted to wait until I got to goal, but it looks like I'm going to need to do…

Heart rate monitors are not that expensive. You should be able to find one for a reasonable price. Check on Amazon or Ebay.

I should have pointed out that in the first photo I'm on the left and in the second photo I am on the right. Just in case anyone was confused.

I lost another inch off my hips. When I started, they measured 41 inches; today, they were 36 inches.

Move on. Tomorrow is another day, etc. But remember how icky and bloated you felt after eating the Taco Bell? Keep that in mind when you think about eating there again. Or next time, try to think about what would be a somewhat healthier meal to have there. Maybe a soft chicken taco with extra lettuce?

I take the 1200 calories as just a guideline of what I need to stay within. Some days, I eat close to it, but most days I'm full after eating 1000 to 1100 calories. I don't sweat it. At least, as long as I am still losing weight. I've only been at this since mid-April.

My husband's eating junk and never gaining weight turned around in his 50s, when he had a work-related accident and knee surgery. He's now 30+ pounds overweight and finally starting to recognize that he needs to stop drinking the sodas and pay attention to what and how much he is eating. Cause-and-effect is strict and…

I take calcium with vitamin D, 1000 mg of vitamin C, a multi-vitamin, a vitamin combination called Hair, Skin and Nails, and Glucosamine with MSM.

I'm on a Mac, too. I don't remember if Garmin Connect ever worked for me or not, but I now use Map My Fitness to upload all my Garmin data. I have the Forerunner 110 (wish I had a better unit) for running and the Edge 800 for cycling.

The first thing I noticed was my feet felt smaller.

If I waited until evening to exercise, I wouldn't do it. I'm a morning person.

Age: 59 Height: 4'11" SW: 161.5 CW: 148.5 GW: 110 I've been told my goal weight is too low based upon my lean body mass, that it should be more around 122-123.

Exercise is also great for stress relief and you can probably use some of that, what with finals and all. Even a short 10-minute walk can make a difference.

Definitely ice. Here's the formula for treating injury: RICE R - Rest I - Ice C - Compression E - Elevation So, lie down and elevate your leg, put some ice on the injury, and then when you are up and about put on a compression dressing.

I bike ride as often as I can with friends. On June 10th, I will be doing the 50-miler in the LA River Ride and on August 18th, I will be doing the metric century (62 miles) Cool Breeze ride in Ventura.

Champion has a catalog they send out regularly and a great website. They have several choices in bras for D and DD cups. I've been using their bras for years and years. Unfortunately, they just ended a bra sale, but they have them periodically, so you can watch for the next one. Or you could buy one full price, so how you…

I'll help in whatever way I can. Starting about 40+ days ago, I have lost 13 lbs so far. My original goal was to lose about 51 lbs, from 161 to 110. Along the way, I had a body composition analysis and was advised that with 95.5 lbs lean body mass, I really don't need to go that low, and could aim for somewhere around…

I, too, weigh once a week first thing in the morning. I don't think it is the actual number that matters, but just the fact that I am holding myself accountable.

Congratulations on the new bike. I love to ride, too. I hope you will post some of your cycling adventures.
