I'm not much on commenting, but this thread has inspired me! I have been going through some threads and feel I don't fit. I am 61 years old and I need to lose half of me! I have severe limitations at this time as far as exercising. I have spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal cord) which causes severe pain when walking…

It's ok to have a bad day, we all have one every once in a while. Just get yourself back on track the next day. You can do this!

What worked for me is to set some very small goals (i.e. lose 25 lbs., treat myself to a new outfit). I took a break from MFP due to some medical issues and have just recently started back. I have also set these small goals (treats) for this journey. For me, if I have something to look forward to I am more motivated to…

I am not new, but just returning. Had knee replacement in November, complications have slowed down recovery, so the gym is out for the time being. I have started working going down the stairs at work. You can do it, take one day at a time. Feel free to add me also.

I have used food stamps (about 25 years ago) and yes they can buy any edible item aside from alcohol with them. No cigarettes are not allowed. One reason a lot of people on food stamps may not buy "healthy" is that they only receive so much to last the whole month, and if they have no other income to purchase food with,…

We just had to put down our dog about a month ago. The picture I am using is her in the Vets office on that day. (She was a shy old pup and this is the only picture I have of her) She was 16 years old and I miss her dearly. I have 2 other dogs that have helped me through the loss, but it still hurts. So I know what you are…

Well done!!! I too have a coworker that loves the donuts, she brought some in today. I walked up to the box, opened it, took a whiff and closed it back. Went to the lunchroom and made my turkey bacon, egg on sugar free whole grain bread. So yes, great victory, I know how it is.

Welcome! MFP will help you on your journey. I have used it before and lost 30lbs. I am back to lose it again and more and be healthier.
-
I too gained the 30 back that I lost on here before. Feel free to add me.

Same here too! Got together with a couple of co-workers and did the lifestyle change. Switched all breads and pastas to whole grain, started using sweetener instead of sugar, cut out the soda, drank more water. Lost 30 lbs. The 2 co-workers transferred, I lost interest, had no one to motivate me. Started here a few years…

I have sent you a friend request.

That's terrific!!! I can't wait to get there. Just started back on MFP. I am starting slowly, lower sodium and fats added to my already whole grains and sugar free items. You deserve the cookie!

There are going to be times when you get lost. Sometimes a meal, a day or a significant amount of time. I have recently come back to MFP, been gone about a year. I am looking forward to losing again the lbs I regained from my prior times on here. To me this is the best place to find positive motivation. I don't eat a lot…

I find eating 3 small meals and snacks keeps my energy at more steady throughout the day. But as stated prior, depends on person.
-
You can do this. MFP is the best place to be motivated. Just keep logging.

I am doing this to get healthy, have more energy (to keep up with hubby), and stop "having" to shop at specialty stores for my clothes because regular retail stores don't carry ones that will fit. I need to lose half of me, so I know this is going to be a long journey, but I can and will do this.

I'm in, send some this way!!!

Hello, I have just returned again. I have been overweight since my last child was born (over 25 years). I have had enough of this large body. As I was telling some co-workers, my fat clothes are becoming way to tight. I am not willing to go shopping for larger sizes. I want to do this for several reasons. I am going to be…

Ok! The weekend is gone, forget about it and get back to doing what worked for you before. Chalk it up to a SLIP and keep reminding yourself that you want to change for you. You can do this!!! Don't beat yourself up, we all have bad days and/or weekends. I have had these times too, as I am sure alot of people on here can…

I pre plan my dinners. I make a 2 week menu for dinners and post it on the fridge. I started doing this because my son is a picky eater and he can check to see whats for dinner before he goes to work. If I am having something he doesn't like (anything pork for instance) he will get something for dinner on his way home.…

Great job!!! Keep it going.

I'm in :) Any motivation is great!! My starting weight 3/21/11 - 272 My weight for Saturday 3/26/11 - Total pounds lost for this 1 week challenge -

Sounds good!! I don't remember who, but one of the major cake mixes has a sugar free mix now. Tried it, pretty good. Maybe I'll try this recipe with that.
-
Wow!! Great job!!

Thanks so much for making this understandable. It really makes sense, where prior to reading this I was unsure what those goals should be. I do know that I have a long way to go and the 2lbs is what I should be shooting for right now. But now I know this will need to change later, after the obesity comes down considerably.…

Welcome!! This is a great site. Since I started with this, I became so addicted, I can't wait to log my food and exercise. It makes doing this so much easier. Again welcome and good luck with your goal(s).
-
Welcome and good luck!! It's great that you have been smoke free for 7 months (I need to do that too). One step at a time. This site will help keep you motivated. I went through a tough patch recently (took some time off to regroup) and the friends I have here were terrific at contacting me to make sure I was doing ok.…

The trainers at my gym tell me that the best effect is to at least do 24 minutes at a time. Your close to that, try for the extra 4 minutes.
