My new favorite soup is potato "cream of..." soup. I use potato to make my soup base and blend in my Nutribullet to get creamy, filling soups. For 1 serving: 1 medium russet potato - diced 1 bunch of favorite greens (spinach and kale) or cauliflower or saute mushrooms 2-3 cups of water depending on how thick or thin you…

My husband lost 50lb (~2lbs a week) and I lost 17lbs (~0.5 lbs a week) in six months. We lost the sodas and unhealthy snacks, and started eating three healthy meals and jogging and some weight training. The usual healthy, recommended weight loss plan. When meal planning, I started by watching the calories and fat content…

It would work. It would be slow. But it's actually a healthy attitude for a healthy body. The key, is to make sure you hit those calories. Add in exercise for fitness and count them all bonuses. I did come across this in a website somewhere but don't have a link or I would link it for you.

I agree with ladyoflb. Get started and keep going are the two best advice for...most things in life :D Welcome to the journey! And add some MFP friends. Seeing everyone's posts and progress keeps me going every morning when I wake up and just want to roll over for another half hour...

I am a newbie, but I like the plank and the heel touch for my core exercise. There are free apps that show you how.

Calories in, calories out is the key to weight loss. But I am on week 7 of c25k and I love it! I actually ran 2.25 miles straight. Who knew?! But keep it up and keep an eye on your calories.

I didn't find this to be a problem for me. I kept putting 2 lbs per week as my goal, but MFP wouldn't let me go below 1,200, which was unhealthy. MFP kept me at a loss of 0.7lbs, and so long as I eat to my recommended calories, I'm safe and losing weight (slowly). I appreciate this as a safety feature.

2lbs per week is feasible for someone larger, but it looks like you would be putting your health at risk if you try for that. Consult with your doctor, first, of course, but it seems you would be healthier losing 0.5-1lb per week.

Hello Owinoc! Welcome to So Cal! I'm making lifestyle changes as well. I cut out sodas, which lead to decreased snacking, which lead to weight loss, which lead me to MFP and Mertups for hiking groups. I would love to stay on track and not end up on the couch snacking again. Would love to add a fellow So Cal resident to my…
