  • This is great. This is my first year riding in cold weather. So far, the 59-70 degree suggested attire has worked for me.
  • Insane. Crazy. Scary. Unbelievable. I am sure I missed some other appropriate descriptions.
  • This will be my first winter, but I plan to ride. My biggest challenge is losing light. I will also increase my strength training and cross training. I am buying my cold weather gear as we speak. I am Georgia and I am told I should be able to keep going. I don't want to lose my skills.
  • Hi Sean and welcome. I committed to cycling this year. I also did my first challenge ride of 50 hilly miles. I still do not find any joy in climbing. I plan to train for my first century in 2013. I am not getting in as many rides as I would like these days because we are losing the sun, but I am pretty consistent. Best of…
  • Saddle. That was well worth it! Bottle cage. Computer. I am such a newby!
  • That is just awesome. Great job on the ride and on the weight loss. I look forward to completing my first century next year. You have me pumped! Thank you so much for sharing.
  • You sound perfectly normal. It happened. Get back on track. If this happens daily....then we need to have an intervention.
  • Best of luck with this. I am new to cycling as well. I find riding with others who are at my level helps for support. Riding with those more advanced helps me push myself. I find I have the confidence to push beyond what I would if alone on the ride. Happy riding!
  • Great job on the increase! I was getting uncomfortable around 50-60 minutes. I changed my saddle and went for a new bike fit. This was the first since when I first bought the bike. My average ride is two hours now. I just completed 4 hours. My feel on the bike at the end of that ride was better than after the 60 minute…
  • Increasing my calories helped me break through a plateau. I still need to update my weight loss, but the change lead to an additional 4 pounds in a short period (about 8 days). Good luck.
  • I am sorry and I understand your anxiety. I have a similar week ahead. With my social and business life, I eat out often. Making up your mind before you go is key. That may mean being a little inconvenient to the restaurant and asking for specially prepared food. For example, bake your fish with no added sauces or butter,…
  • I do a lot of cardio. I only see significant change in my size or see toning when I am strength training. I actually shrink.
  • Thanks everyone. Just to clarify. I was washing after each ride. She said I should wash them immediately. In other words, don't put them in the laundry for later. So, I am essentially riding and coming home to do laundry each time.
  • About 230-235. I am almost 6 feet tall DDD busts with a large frame.
  • Hello everyone. I am new to cycling. I am training for my first long ride (long for me @ 47 miles) on September 1. I am super excited about the ride and connecting with other cyclists for inspiration on MFP. I dropped off my bike today for its first tune up and cleaning. I actually feel a little withdrawal.
  • Just awesome! Keep up the great work!
