  • Yay, you, Nicki, on losing 13 with detox. Sorry I missed it before. Good job!!
  • Never heard of it. As long as it fits within the L&G guidelines, go for it. Whatever works to get you there, do it!
  • I lost 9 pounds when I did it before starting Medifast. My girlfriend did it at the start of her journey & lost 12 pounds! My sister did it & lost 8 pounds. Most of what you lose is stored water weight from the midsection. It definitely cleans you out & gets you ready for doing a strict 5&1 on plan.
  • I started eating fruit a couple times a week in addition to my otherwise strict 5&1 plan and, tada, I started losing again. But I got rid of the last 5 doing detox. If you want the detox packet of info I got from my Medifast Center, PM your email addy and I will send it to you.
  • Karen, I love your blog! I never knew about it. (I probably wasn't paying attention....sorry....bride brain....)
  • I'm doing detox this week because I, too, am sick of the last 5 pounds and just want to be done with Medifast. The food is fine, I'm just sick of eating it if I am not going to steadily lose. I added in one serving of fresh fruit a day and that really helped kick start me again, I lost 2 more pounds, but then sort of…
  • Well then, I'll probably see you there!
  • Lots of good info here. I was glad I found it right away, made some good friends who started the program about the same time I did and it has been an awesome support system for me.
  • It isn't something you just "try" for 2 weeks. I've done it for 4 months and lost almost 50 pounds. I like some of the food, dislike other stuff, but some of the stuff I dislike, other people absolutely love. It is like anything, a matter of taste. I will be slowly transitioning off Medifast foods once I reach goal in the…
  • I had a zero week last week. So this week? I am going back to nibbling on fruit. Nothing big, just 10 grapes or half an apple. I was doing that when cherries were in season and losing 2-3 a week. Sigh. I think my problem is I am in the normal range for BMI and my body is a lot less interested in letting go of what is left…
  • We have a lot of eating habits on the weekends that have nothing to do with hunger. They are hard habits to break. Like snacking while watching football. Making pancakes, bacon, & eggs on Saturday mornings. Drinking alcohol. Focus on eating for what it is: sustenance. It is not a recreational activity nor a spectator…
  • A girl after my own heart. I LOVE wine. And cherries.
  • I try not to go off plan for special occasions or to reward myself for staying on plan or working out hard. I make all my rewards non-food ones & asked my fiancée to do the same. The reason is, that is the kind of thinking that allowed me to slowly get fat a little at a time until one day I was 50+ pounds overweight. I…
  • Keep in mind that when you transition off Medifast, you will need to learn to eat carbohydrates in moderation. Everything you miss is full of carbs! The truth is, food containing fat are not responsible for most people's obesity. It is the carbs.
  • According to the MF center I go to each week, you can have 1/2 cup of Blue Diamond brand unsweetened almond milk in the regular or vanilla flavored with your cereal. Make sure it is unsweetened, that makes a HUGE difference in calories/carbs. It counts as one condiment, so if you don't use condiments elsewhere, you could…
  • Welcome!
  • Welcome! Glad to support & help.

  • OMG. I am in the exact same place. I started in April. I'm down 36 pounds. I have just over 10 more to go. All my skinny clothes are too big. I'm completely unmotivated. I'm not really cheating though, but I have reached a plateau. I think I need to go to the gym more often and be very careful about drinking enough water…
  • After you put it in the berry cereal, it is actually a little pink!! I don't really look at it because I don't drink it straight up, so it is acceptable on cereal. I think all faux milks are nasty to drink straight up, including the coconut. The least offensive is the Soy Slender brand chocolate soy milk. Which, by the…
  • The Medifast nutrition support directive recommends using a 1/2 cup of unsweetened plain or vanilla almond milk. It counts as a condiment. The unsweetened versions are very low in calories and carbs, even lower than coconut milk (which I think has a weird after taste, so I'm not a big fan anyway). The almond milk has its…
  • Your center staff will be most knowledgable about what is best for your particular situation, so definitely do what your coach tells you to do. Personally, I like going through the center and the cost at my center for food is comparable to online because they charge less than the online prices. Plus, it is medically…
  • Track everything you put in your mouth on myfitnesspal. It really helps you see where you are having trouble instead of trying to rely on memory. If you need help or have specific questions, feel free to friend me or send me a direct message. I've been doing it since April and have lost 35 pounds. It is so easy and I feel…
  • Talking about your struggles releases much of the power you might otherwise allow it to have in your life!
  • I AGREE!! But, I thought better of my reply and sent it to you privately instead.....
  • You are not doomed to eating crunch bars, but you will need to learn the maintenance diet and the maximum calories you can consume without gaining weight. You will never be able to eat the way you did before or the way you did when you were "younger." That has all changed and your caloric intake will change as you age or…
  • The main reason the MF Center I go to encourages people to do it before starting MF, is to allow sufficient time to get your blood draw done and the results reviewed by the Center's supervising doctor. I put a little more info about the process and supplements in my blog: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/littleredjd
  • I had a zero loss my second week. Don't give up! Just make sure you are not cheating and are measuring your lean & green foods.
  • I think you will find 22-25% is a very lean range for women. We naturally store fat in our behinds and chests and around our vital organs. For a woman to go below 20%, she either has to be anorexic (which is unhealthy) or in the gym 3 hours a day like a professional athlete (runners, gymnasts, etc.). Most female…
