Yup. And that was how I gained all my weight back and then some during the pandemic. Turned out I was really good at mixology and then at drinking wine. And I wasn't logging the calories OR measuring it at first (OK, so for a while) for stupid reasons best summed up as "meh, whatever, it all works out". Protip: It did not…

It was all about finding the right activity for me. I don't do activity that doesn't bring me that cliched joy -- or at least SOMETHING that makes me happy -- so my workouts come from what I love: running, rowing, solidcore, swimming and lifting. It's enough variety that keeps me happy, and gets me out of the house.
-
Quite the opposite -- 50 gm is really low. 88 gm is a good goal, especially since you're active.
-
Yeah, I've been getting a ton lately, which cracks me up, considering I'm not that active on the forums anymore, so it's not like they're just seeing me and clicking to friend. I just delete them as I get them.

That was the face I made when I got my new food scale. I dutifully weighed out the same 10 gm of crackers I'd had as a snack a few days before, and it was ... a much much smaller amount. Same with the cheese I put on them. I had a big sad. (On the upside, it then also explained the random AF blood sugar spikes I was…

The oil thing is so true. I'd slacked off of measuring oil when I put it in a pan, because I *thought* I was nailing a tablespoon. Noooope. I started measuring it again after my food scale died -- I'd realized it had gone bad when what it told me was 8 oz of pasta was obviously far more than 8 oz of pasta -- and I'd easily…

You need to *weigh* your food -- not measure it, weigh it. If you're not even measuring it, that's your problem right there. You are overeating. Portion creep is a real thing. Most people think they eat less than they actually are. You need to weigh *everything* that goes in your mouth.
-
I mean, you're flexing in one picture and posing, and not in the others. What do you look like when you actually slouch in both?
-
Correct. Your perceived rate of exertion may be more, and you may be sweating more, but your activity is not burning more calories.
-
I suspect that your device is overestimating your calorie burn. It would be very very very abnormal to burn 1000 calories for only 4 miles -- some reputable calculators put that *run* burn at 500ish calories for someone of your weight. So you're definitely not hitting 1000 calories in 4 miles. And if you're overestimating…

Yup. At first I thought maybe it legit didn’t have the brand — which would be weird to not offer any similars, but ok whatever. But when it told me there were no entries for “hot dog” I knew there had to be a major problem.

Life and everything is *hard* right now -- it's OK to give yourself some grace. Lots of people are struggling, and it's OK to be struggling. I know you're disappointed, but you're strong, and you're determined. You'll figure out what you need to do -- and you've done it before.

You are underweight by quite a bit, and in a position where you can eat back your calories. Many people do eat back a portion of their calories. People who are underweight need to eat them all back.

Water retention from new workouts can take six weeks to come off. Mark your calendar for a month from now, and see where you stand then.
-
What did your doctor say about your over exercising? Did you show them your pedometer? Just because you're not chewing and spitting anymore doesn't mean you're recovered.
-
I’m not saying you’re lying. I’m saying whatever you are using for these estimates may be giving you bad information. And with that bad information, that’s part of how you’re gaining weight.
-
I would be very very surprised if you were getting 900 calorie burns from that amount of exercise.
-
Gaining 47 pounds in six months means eating an extra 900 calories a day, essentially. Even though that seems like a lot, with fat-dense food, it is really easy to do it really easily if you aren’t WEIGHING and tracking every bit of food that goes in your mouth, and every beverage you drink (that has calories — tea and…

Your posture is the problem. You’re arching your back, which is forcing your stomach out — it’s obvious really in this picture, because a) we can see you arching and b) the line of your dress is shifting back. Stand up completely straight.

I belong to a Y. They’ve offered members the ability to freeze or pay — and I’ve decided to keep paying. My Y is putting a lot of programming online, offering child care for medical providers and first responders, continuing to house people at the urban locations, and quite literally feeding people. I’m happy to keep…

I’ve definitely been having moments of “I’m so glad I hate lifting in public” — when I first started lifting, I bought a bench, barbell, plates, and then later got a rack. So for this, I had to track down some 25-pound plates, and I bought a spin bike, but that’s the worst of it. I’m currently running a modified PPL…

I bought a spin bike. When I’m stressed, I spin. Or I lift. I do a lot of spinning now, it seems. And my deadlift is now up to a body weight deadlift.

And people are allowed to respond. If you prefer an echo chamber, you may wish to do a blog or a closed page instead where you can talk to yourself without other people interacting with you.

#TeamAnn I'm single, and doing treat yo'self. Coffee ice cream for a snack, and I get GF chicken tenders for dinner.

Yup. I eat primarily protein -- I'm not true low carb, but I'm lower carb -- and I'm iron deficient anemic, to the point that my dietitian and PCP were both "You can't fix this with diet." (So now I get iron infusions. It's fantastic. I feel human again.) Protein alone does not cause excess iron levels unless you have a…

I am so very very very legit glad you’re back.

I mostly use it to get accurate carb counts for me to bolus insulin with. And even with user-generated data, it's still *easier* than googling every single website and completely literally putting myself in danger by completely guessing. Not all of us are here because we don't know how to lose weight.

That's been going around lately. There's been a feceston of posts that are getting disagreed simply for pointing out that underweight isn't a good goal, or that super intense low restriction isn't healthy. I figured some pro-ana chicks were getting pissed off and have nothing better to do.
