If they have a "pescado veracruzano", it's usually a grilled fish with a tomato sauce. I get it with veggies and guacamole instead of rice and beans and it's very healthy.

I would totally up your exercise as much as possible. You might be able to get some really long runs in to counteract the higher calorie intake.

I don't know if I can technically call myself a "dancer" but I do love to dance! I live in Guatemala (and previously Colombia and Honduras) so I've taken salsa, merenque, bachata, cumbia, etc. And also love zumba for fitness! Friend me if you like.

I'm 47 (on Monday) and have an 8 year old and a 2 year old! I've always been heavy and am not looking forward to the weight gain of menopause. I lost 30 lbs before I left Colombia last summer and have since gained back 15 lbs. Trying to get back down and keep going. Friend me if you like. :)

I agree with everyone who says "don't talk to her about it" but that doesn't mean you can't invite your friend and her daughter for a hiking trip or regular walks or suggest doing a C25K together. You could broach it, as "I'm really excited about this. Let's all do it together", and that way, you might be a good role model…

Okay, I'm sure it's too late for this but I LOVE salsa dancing. I'm not great but I really enjoy it and take lessons when I can. Friend me!

Finally, finally made it to the gym during lunch. I fought it (contacted all my regular lunch buddies and they all said no) but I could have just eaten lunch at my desk and skipped but I went, I went, I went!!!

Thanks mikecrazy. I guess saying things that make me look like a tool also makes me feel like an idiot. But it's nice to see that there are some people who don't worry at all about being tools.

coffee. Can't stand the flavor!

You are so lucky that you think those things taste yucky! I love everything on that list, except maybe light beer. :)
-
I said that in my OP!!

English food?!!!! did you really go there? I'm half British and I dream about a good pork pie, steak and sausage pudding, cornish pasty, battenburg cake, bakewell tarts, scotch eggs, and an English breakfast with all that yummy sausage. Yum!!!!
-
oh no, love, love, love sausage. Favorite food after cheese! I like mayo as long as it's with cheese or something and love salt and vinegar chips but I will give you tripe and haggis. Yuck!!!
-
Definitely. My participation is very sporadic. I won't judge you for not posting if you won't judge me.

I could have posted the same posting, except that I'm 15 lbs up and my problem always starts when the weekend rolls around. I do fine Monday through Friday and then I ruin it all over the weekend. Want to friend me and maybe we can keep each other on track?

Now, we're talking, gypsyrunner!

Bump! Very motivating!

Thanks all! I'm sure I will be able to dispose of them appropriately. ;) Alphaloria, I think they are smaller than half of the yellow wrapped ones for sure. But I will check AngieCook09's suggestion also.

You rock!! And believe me, you can celebrate every day that you're moving in the right direction!

I love to cook it up with garlic, thyme and cumin and add raisins and feta cheese and chick peas. I can eat a big bowl of it for dinner. I think the recipe is sort of like this but I usually throw in a bit of feta at the end and let it melt. http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/spinach_with_chickpeas.html

Hey there, I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you but I just wanted to say that you are incredibly BRAVE and STRONG for taking the step to tell your mother what is going on with you. You are doing a wonderful thing for your health and your life in facing this problem and trying to fix it. You do deserve to get…
-
Okay, either this is really calculating or you are just too hot. :)

HEy there, If you don't like lettuce or spinach, I think you're just not a salad person. BUT maybe you could eat cooked veggies instead. What about roasted sweet potatoes and beets or grilled zuchini, eggplant, etc. You could cook up a bunch and eat those as a salad instead.

this! I was going to say, cut them in half and freeze them separately so each is a very manageable portion in your day.

yeah, not sure about my chocolate chip cookie being in a burger either.

On the other hand, I'm very grateful for Costco's ginormous salmons that I can cut up and freeze for healthy dinners for months.

a friend at work introduced me to it. It's kind of like crack. You shouldn't try it, not even once.
