As others have stated, there is no “best” pre-workout. However, I would also caution to take stock of the ingredients. A number of pre-workout supplements contain Higenamine. If, for example, one takes ADHD medication, it’s a bad mix. It also falls under banned substances for orgs like the NCAA and WADA. If one isn’t…

This may not help but as a coach, extrinsic rewards aren’t terribly helpful for the long haul. The reward for executing is feeling good whether it’s helping score a point, scoring a point, or simply achieving a personal goal. Intrinsic value always outlasts extrinsic rewards and it’s better for maintaining long term habits.

Weight is so misleading. I’ve lost 25 pounds but it’s the inches where I notice the big difference.

As an MFP member, Congratulations! As the son of an alcoholic, Thank You! Your last sentence took the words right out of my mouth. Life is all about creating habits. I know the first step isn’t easy and the subsequent steps can be equally difficult. Fight on and good luck.

I swear by boxing and the burn is great. I use a double end bag and a heavy bag, alternating between both in about an hour of work. 16 oz. gloves. Added a weighted vest but absolutely cannot keep that thing on for more than 10 minutes at a time. I will average around 1000 calories / workout. I alternate between songs on my…

Farmer carries should help.

Pre-workout is good but certainly not necessary. At. All. I use it but not all of the time. Only when I’m really dragging and one can get used to it so periods staying away are necessary. I don’t do coffee or soda. Look at more than just GNC is also my suggestion. Do your homework and even run stuff by your doc. I’ve sent…

When I first joined MFP I ignored requests because I just wasn’t comfortable with it. Then I decided I was going to change that. I don’t actively seek friends but accept *most* requests. I only immediately unfriended a person once because I realized it was a 13year old girl. I’m not too concerned if a friend is active or…

My wife isn’t very supportive and often questions everything I do. When I began all she did was roll her eyes because she felt what I was doing was extreme. It wasn’t, but to her, changing my eating habits, working out 4-5 times a week, was extreme. I don’t care what she thinks or how she feels about it. My body. My…

Why not simply, not use your left? Shadow box? By all means talk to your surgeon, but there are things that can be done.

When I first moved out on my own, DD actually cared about donuts. That first weekend I was starving at 3 in the morning. I left my place, drove to Dunkin' Donuts and grabbed myself a dozen donuts so fresh some of them were still warm when I got home. I've been in love ever since despite the fact they no longer make my…

At first it's difficult, then it becomes easy. My sweet-tooth is ravenous. Ice cream, hot fudge...good lord. However, working out and loving the results (along with modifying eating habits) makes saying 'No' that much easier. I haven't been putting in all of that work for nothing. That said, I don't deny myself those sweet…

One: @badgerpam22 - Badger Fan by chance? Two: sometimes it's just simpler to take things day by day, then week by week. I used to get caught up in planning long range, stumbling, then throwing my hands up. Take it one day at a time. Make small changes as needed , find your groove, make your groove consistent. It's much…

Never really thought I would get into it. Started watching it last year for the first time. Freaking LOVE IT! I binged the crap out of all six seasons. Couldn't wait until it finally started up again. Not sure I've been more addicted to a series than this one. Always thought it would be cool to see a Native American…

I have a horrible sweet tooth. I told my wife I'm going to go 2 weeks with no candy or ice cream just to prove to myself that I had the will power. The next day on the counter......a huge bag of Twizzlers. Not on purpose, just another in a long line of me having a conversation with my spouse but really talking to a chair.…

Boxing is a winner for me. No gym. Simple bag work at home.

Talk to a doctor. Find out the underlying cause(s), and create a plan with your doc.

For what it's worth, I've had my Polar H7 for over almost a year and a half and have had to change the battery twice. That's using it about 10-12 hours/week. During summer, a lot more.

I workout naked and weigh myself fully clothed. I get the feeling I'm doing this wrong?

I love my Polar H7

I'm about to hit the road for 14 days but I'll be in a condo with a kitchen. I travel a lot during a certain portion of the year and I can't think of a hotel room I've had that didn't have a refrigerator. Make use of it. Stop at a store find some healthy snack choices and have small meals of those through the day to help…

When I first started using MFP (seriously) I was hitting our treadmill and eating at a deficit. Mind you, it was a deficit that I (now) think I set too low. I was always fatigued but hey, I was losing weight. It didn't matter to me that I had little energy and always felt miserable both mentally and physically. In…

^^^^^^What she (?) said. Food is fuel. Drive a car faster, farther, and it will need to be filled up sooner. Burn more calories, faster, and the body will need some help to keep going. I increased my calorie goal on MFP by 500 calories last fall as I increased my workout intensity. Still losing weight, and feeling much…

Just make sure to do them with proper form. Engage that core from top to bottom.

My daughter is in the same boat. She uses the Sworkit app on her iPhone. She loves it.

Bingo and seconded. I typically do about 6 minutes of planks during my strength workouts.

I'm a huge proponent of bear crawls. I started doing them while pulling a sled loaded up with weights. By the end of my second pass (return to start), my thighs are are shot. As I've noted to my friends here on MFP, it's the only exercise I do that makes me want to quit my routine...which is why it's the second to last…
