  • Hi, I'm in the same position, I just managed to run 1.4 miles last night, each time I go out I just try to go a bit further and then when I'm running and want to stop, I ask myself why, my legs hurting? Stitch? Breathing? If all of these are fine, chances are I'm just a bit tired so I push a bit harder and think about…
  • I feel exactly the same, I get into the healthy eating one day and then as soon as I start to feel a little better about myself I think, I'm not that bad, I don't want to restrict myself all my life, but then I look back in the mirror and realise all over why I started this. Right now I am fighting the urge not to have a…

  • If you add them to your calorie count for the day then it's fine, if it looks like its going to push you over for the day, why not try to squeeze in some exercise to counteract it. I think it's normal, if you deny yourself everything you love, you're going to be less likely to make this a long term life change.

  • These are great! Mine isn't in picture form but: 'Exerting yourself to the fullest within your individual limits; that's the essence of running, and a metaphor for life.'
  • I get how you feel, I'm verybusy myself having about 3 hours a weekday when I'm not out at work or sleeping. Planning things out really does help, even if you just keep the plans in your mind on a daily or a weekly basis. I try to plan the meals we will have each night and this helps when shopping to know what you need and…
  • Bump
  • On average 7 hours a night but I do feel like I would benefit from more! I am interested to see what everyone else gets!
  • This may seem like a silly question but just to check, when you say 'push-up' position are you talking about on your toes as oposed to your knees?

  • This is something I would really like to do, however, getting myself out of bed in the morning can be a real struggle. I am very familiar with the snooze button and in my half-asleep mode can justify staying in bed until the very last minute very easily. Does anyone have any tips on how I might be able to get up an extra…
  • Perhaps encourage extra glasses of water when feeling hungry and you know they can't be. I remember learning portion control from my parents in simple ways like whenever we had biscuits, we would never have more than two. We would never have more than one bag of crisps a day and whatever was put on our plate was dinner. Up…
  • You could use the slow cooker to make up some bolognase style sauce or cook up the beef with some onions, carrots, peas and stock (thicken up at the end) to make a cottage pie. You could make a chilli, vary the ingredients to make it a taco style filling. Just be aware of what you are putting with it; mash and spagetti in…
  • Bump - weekends are a major downfall for me!
  • I have a stepper machine, similar to what you get at the gym but the back of your foot moves to the side on the way down, I often just do this infront of the TV, the machine tells me I'm burning 280 calories in half an hour, I'm not sure I believe it, but it works up a sweat and seems like a good exercise for the legs and…
  • Perhaps look at what you're eating for dinner and try to get good foods that will sustain you for the evening like some protein. If this is all ok, I would suggest trimming calories out of other areas through the day to save yourself for enough to have a snack around this sort of time. Good luck
  • I was cooking dinner for friends and was making mash potato, I took about a table spoon of this and mixed it with mashed carrots, lower carb and calories and the potato just helped to bind it so it wasn't so watery. Perhaps create existing meals with subsitutes like this?
  • I've been exactly the same for the last few years. I need to strike the balance with a little more exercise and not take the mentality 'I'm not on a diet I can eat what I like'. The minute I'm happy with my body again I stop worrying about food and exercise. I guess you don't need to be terribly strict all the time as you…
  • Looks like I better get exercising, thanks for the advice everyone!
  • Sometimes if I've almost set my mind on having that bad food, I will log it into my diary and then think about what I'm going to be eating for the rest of the day, for dinner etc. Most times this treat will push your calories so far out you just can't justify it. Then I go back and delete the naughty item and feel such a…
  • I'm in exactly the same boat, I don't have much to lose and a lot of the people I tell I am on a diet to, say you don't need to lose weight and don't take it seriously. I have dinner at a friends house once a week and am out or have people round almost every weekend. So far the only way I have found to suceed is to eat…
  • Just looked at your profile, its amazing, you must've worked so hard! Congratulations you look fantastic! Well done on the jeans!
  • Next time you have a confession moment like now, maybe go back and add the extras into your diary, then next time you go to eat those, you might remember that they will end up in your diary and even if your not logging them, they still count. I don't blame you, my worst downfall is knowing I haven't stuck to my calories…
  • Carrots are quite easy to squeeze into things, you could grate them and add them to salads or sauces - like bolognase or pasta sauces. You could grill aubergine and courgette and use them like lasagne sheets or in addition to. Throw in some red peppers, tomatoes cook down to pretty much nothing when cooked as part of a…
  • Adding something new into your usual might re-ignite your previous enjoyment for exercise - I started Zumba last night and it really is as fun as everyone suggests. Not only is the exercise in class good for you but there is a lot of 'shaking' going on and it encouraged me to tone up outside of the class so there wouldn't…
