  • This is a good hearty Spanish Fabada type recipe, great for a winter evening meal with a little crusty bread. If you replace the sausage with a good quality Venison sausage the fat and calories per serve are reduced significantly. http://www.womanandhome.com/recipes/293905/sausage-and-butter-bean-stew
  • This really works! The added bonus is the time it saves each night in food preparation that you can then use for excercise.

  • I had my MRI a few weeks ago L4/L5 prolapsed disc, I asked the specialist about weights and he told me to do cardio.
  • I haven't been on a carnival cruise but all the ones I have been on the food has been great. I would forget about the weight loss and enjoy There is always the onboard gym if you are really worried, have a blast!
  • I started at a BMI of 33 and had a target BMI of 24. Well I reached BMI of 27 a few weeks a go with 16% body fat , I looked at myself in the mirror and my tummy was pretty flat my face looked thin. I was happy with what I saw and thought to myself, you don't need to go any further. In fact I think if I do go any further, I…

  • Yep really need to have the Nigella swimming burka pictures up here for a true comparison, it was not a good look
  • Hi Tizz, My wife had two stents at 46 so know how you feel, it is very young. She continued to have the odd chest twinge over the next two years and we even ended up back in the EU unit a couple of times where she was monitored for a couple days. These have settled down now. The best advice if you are having twinges is to…
  • Thank for posting, your kindness and empathy really shines through. You have given me an insight into how I believe someone I love thinks and it may just make it easier to accept when their illness is talking.
  • Yep this. Someone being overweight is none of your damned business. If they ask for your help fair enough, otherwise butt out. What I have learned on here is that some reformed overweight/unfit folk are worse than reformed smokers, they are freaking obsessed, judgmental much!
  • Same goal for me and the same reason. I keep thinking I may try for 155 when I get there to get me down one more BMI point as a buffer. Dreams are free lol
  • Perfect example of how we are all different. Just like you I started may 25 th 2012 have lost exactly 29 pounds, I eat about 1500 - 1700 and due to sciatica I do minimal excercise. Way to go for us! :-)
  • Cats are little arseholes, that is why they secretly vomit in the bathroom doorway in the middle of the night, knowing full well you are going to walk through that doorway in bare feet at 6:00am!
  • I spent so many years eating too much and never feeling truly hungry, that when I started eating properly, feeling hungry was a bit of a novelty. I have kind of embraced my hunger, it is a sign that I have made a change for the better. Three months in and I still feel hungry sometimes, try chewing sugar free gum after a…
  • Awesome job! You are looking great. I have cut out the bread and pasta and it is working really well for me too.
  • Makes perfect sense, to me! Not nonsensical at all.

  • These chicken patties are really yummy with a dipping sauce or a salad. Hot or cold They are pretty spicey so you may want to quarter the chillies, if you are not into too hot foods. http://www.food.com/recipe/low-fat-chorizo-204614 Go England!
  • Thank you all for the helpful advice and good wishes. The low carb suggestion is very interesting, we have been reducing carbs over the past three weeks so we will see if in the long term this reduces the buildup of fats from the prednisone. Thanks again and the best of luck on your respective Journeys.
  • Hopefully your short term use won't be too nasty for you.
  • Thanks Jwilllose, awesome weight loss by the way! Yes RA and sarcoidosis are both pretty craptastic  It is a pity that prednisone has such nasty side effects because it does seem to be the most effective treatment.
  • Thanks for the information and good wishes. Hallucinations! That must have been freaky, I think moon face and buffalo hump are bad enough. Too be honest we didn't ask the Dr about the weight loss. It seems like every time we see him we are full of questions and end up going home thinking we should have asked him such and…
  • Thanks for your reply Jinks, It seems like being on the prednisone does make it tougher to lose weight but not impossible. My wife is currently on a 20 mg dose but reducing slowly and has just started the methotrexate, so we are not sure how that will pan out. It seems to be pretty well controlled at the moment with no…
  • This is the way I feel too. Though I don't fill out my diary, I use the counter to calculate the calories of everything I make. I have stopped buying any processed foods apart from tinned pulses in brine. I am eating plenty just like before but much smarter. My biggest weakness was bread, milk and cheese. At this stage I…
  • http://ellysaysopa.com/2009/07/07/breakfast-chicken-sausage-patties/ These chicken patties are pretty versatile, with salad for lunch, with beans for breakfast or double the cayenne and use as a chorizo substitute. I love a frittata made from chicken, broccoli and mushrooms, I make a 10 egg frittata and cut it into eight…
  • I am 20 days in to my diet and I am already getting a feel for portion sizes and what I should and shouldn't be eating. I don't feel like it is necessary for me to log every day, planning the next few meals. ahead is critical for me though. I don't think I have ever been so organized with meal plans or given so much…

  • Thank you for the information, it sounds like you had the same battles with Prednisone. It is pretty disheartening for her as she is doing everything right with diet and exercise but not seeing any results. They have just put her on a second medication called methotrexate which will hopefully slowly reduce the prednisone…
