That is awesome! OHP is so hard!

Deadlift day. So, I'm kind of a derp sometimes. My squat rack is by a picture window. There is enough room to do a deadlift, but the initial lifting off of the pins always makes me wonder if I lost my balance if I would got headfirst through the window. My beloved 13 year old son heard me telling his dad this and said…

Oh, Daiva I hope your pain isn't a stress fracture! Yes to getting that looked at!
-
DaivaSimone, great job, good to come back from a slump! Now, I'm in a slump right now. My weights feel impossibly heavy this week. I think it may have more to do with the fact that my schedule has been such that I only end up eating once a day, very late and it has messed me up. I've spent the last three days in the car,…

This is the best place for support. You all understand how much it takes to progress, how much work it really takes. Other people... the ones who don't lift just don't get why it is a big deal. You girls rock!

It is the people in my real life who just shrug and go on about their business, not realizing how big this is to me! I celebrated at 50 pounds too. That is the hardest lift. My beloved husband can't even move my bench press and OHP weights. Thanks!

Oh, I use a chunk of pipe insulation for that!

Power cleans terrify me. I lift at home alone and am afraid to even try with just the bar, because if something goes terribly wrong, I'm alone and hurt! Oh, and burpees are the devil!

Good luck with the meeting. Those things can be brutal! Glad you have a strategy. Hope it goes well. Most people in my life just aren't interested in lifting, but you guys understand how huge it is to make those personal goals. I've been lifting for almost two years now and I've worked hard to get where I am, through…

Oh and Happy Birthday Krokador!

Small personal Victory...and most people don't care, so here it goes. I did 5x5 OHP at 100 pounds. I've had to deload several times, but this time I did it. I'm gonna stay there for another workout, but I'll be over Squats: 5x5 173 Deadlift: 1x5 228 (working up from deload)
-
Krokador: Nice! Daiva: I've been at this for a while now, so the numbers are higher, but I started barely able to squat with the bar!

Deloaded on dead lifts. From 245lb. to 225 (not quite 10% but 20lb. works for me). Going to work my way back up. I can do 225, but it is still pretty heavy feeling and the bar tears my hands up something terrible. Squats: 172lb. (staying there for another workout) 5x5 OHP: 98 lb. some day, I'll break 100. Some day. I'll…

10% is what I meant. Sorry! :)

Diet is cut most days, but random others. I should check out the MadCow post. It may be due to stress in my life too. My mother has been in the hospital for the last couple of weeks and I've been running back and forth and trying to keep my own life balls in the air. Sleep hasn't been good either. Thanks for the…

I need to de load on dead lifts. I have now failed at 245 three times. So, taking it down 10 and working my way back up. Is there a point where you just have to 'stay' or is there something anyone knows of to blast past this? It feels so heavy and I have such a hard time even getting the bar off the ground. I kind of feel…

Better to get the form down and work up. Honestly, we all started light to varying degrees. A standard bar is 45 pounds, you're at 30. That's pretty close, so just hang in there, get your form together and before you know it, you'll be adding plates to that bar because it feels so light.
-
Thanks. It has taken me two years of hard work to get there. I was at 105 before summer, but I had a bunch of injuries, so I ended up going backward. OHP is hard...don't like.
-
You're moving right along! Great work!
-
I hit 3 of my 5 dead lifts at After that, my body just said "nope, not lifting it" and I couldn't move the bar at all. Still not sure if it is metal or physical, but I'm staying at this weight and going for all 5 next time, but I'll take 4. 170 squats, 5x5, staying at this weight one more workout before moving up (by 1…

Give it a day in between. Gives your muscles time to recover.
-
That's some impressive weight, though![/quote] Thanks! I'm working hard and not increasing as fast as I used to, but I feel strong.
-
GAH! Second dead lift day when I couldn't complete my reps. I don't know if I'm having trouble mentally or physically. I'm going to give it one more day at 245 and deload if I can't make the reps next time. On everything else, I'm plugging along. Made 170 on squats (5x5) which seems great to me.

I haven't checked in in a while, but today's workout was pretty good. I'm still working past a shoulder problem, but it is getting better. Turns out narrowing my grip on OHP helped A LOT and nearly fixed it. Squats: 160 5x5, form was great today too, felt the difference as I got more upright (which I've been working on).…

You look beautiful! It must feel nice to fit into it again.

I have some days when the weight seems good, then one pound more seems like fifty. I think our bodies are just different day to day, how tired we are, what we ate, etc.
-
Finally got my hip issue worked out! YAY! Was able to do deadlifts with no pain. Now, to work my way up after a summer of one injury after another (and none of them lifting related either). But, I've learned....it's better to take a little time off and heal than it is to keep trying and making it worse. So, I was dumb, but…

We're in no-money mode right now. You know when you trip on a sidewalk and then you stumble for several steps trying to get your balance before you fall on your face? That's where we are right now, in that stumbling phase after a setback several months ago. So, no chiro yet, but my regular doctor has a very small co-pay,…
