I am an ostomate for the last 2 years. I have a permanent sigmoid colostomy due to a birth defect.

I do *okay* for now. I may need to revisit this issue as the disease progresses and the symptoms get worse. I may look into a water aerobics class. I think there's even a water zumba class nearby as well. Thanks for your input everyone!

I use the Misfit Ray and like it. It's one of the only ones that is swim-proof, if that's an issue for you.

at the moment, I'm liking the stationary bike pretty well, but I'm sure I'll eventually get bored with it. My local place offers water aerobics, but they're not at the best times for me except on Saturdays. Thanks!

Do not let yourself get too hungry, that's a big pitfall for me. Everything goes out the window if I'm starving.

@jennybearlv is my spirit animal. I totally agree. I just can't in the morning. Some days it's all I can do to get a shower in the morning, let alone exercise. Do whatever works best for you.

I need more protein and healthy fats in the morning than oatmeal can provide, or I end up hungry all day long. I usually have egg & cheese on a whole-grain english muffin, or peanut butter on whole grain toast.

We need to solve the food desert problem first. Taxing junk food is fine, but if that's all you can get, what good is the tax other than to punish those who can least afford it? Or if you can get 5 boxes of mac and cheese for $5 or ONE salad for $5, which are you going to choose if you have a family to feed on a shoestring…

I normally plan around grocery store sales. :) Check the flyers, see the produce, etc. that's on sale and stock up on it for the week. If asparagus is on sale (as an example) I'll eat salads, pasta, etc. with asparagus in/on it.

It is an incomplete protein, but unless you're only eating pb and nothing else the whole day or week, it's doubtful you're not getting the remaining amino acids. If you have a microwave handy, Amy's brand stuff is all vegetarian. Some is even vegan. Their burritos/wraps are a favorite of mine. Burger King also has a pretty decent veggie burger.

I'd think that if you are a woman, that where you are currently at in your cycle may have something to do with it as well. I generally COUNT on 5 lbs of water weight during my PMS week.

I would only enable the ones you see as a problem for you personally. I struggle to eat enough fiber, and I get migraines with too much sodium, so I have enabled those and pretty well just discount all the rest of them.
