Good Morning
My name is Greg and I am a Ostomate. I have a non reversal Ileostomy for the last 2 years due to a severe infection cause by Diverticulitis. My entire guts were removed with the exception of the leum or the lower section of the small intestine. Please join me http://www.myfitnesspal.com/profile/Navydaddjtc with my quest to eat the right foods and do the right exercises for us Ostomates. I am also on fitbit https://www.fitbit.com/user/3MFWZ8. Please join me in creating a better life with an ostomy.

Hi. I'm not yet but I'm waiting for a total colectomy with permanent ileostomy and 3-6 months later proctectomy/Barbie butt. I have fistulizing crohn's disease and I have 3 horrible unrepairable fistulas which is why they are doing it.

If you only have your ileum do you have short bowel syndrome?

No on the short bowel syndrome. A portion of my bowels were left that were not infected by the infection. I do not have a barbie Butt. I still have mucus discharge every so often and have to irrigate it to clean out the discharge so it will not chafe my cheeks on the inside.

Ok cool. My fistulas originate in my rectum plus I have Crohn's there so I definitely don't want to keep it. Crohn's being autoimmune has a high likelihood of attacking a different section of your GI system after you remove the diseased part so I'm hoping it doesn't attack my small intestine a.

I am an ostomate for the last 2 years. I have a permanent sigmoid colostomy due to a birth defect.
