  • That is wonderful. One of the things I hoped when I started this journey was that I might inspire other people to lose weight too. Good for you both!
  • My nutritionist gave a very specific pre-op diet. Some are only liquid, mine included 2 - 2oz servings of chicken/turkey, or greek yogurt a day and either 1 cup of cooked veggies, or 2 cups of raw a day in addition to protein shakes, sugar free popcicles, jello, broth. I had to do it for 2 weeks and lost 13 pounds before…
  • I had the sleeve on 6/12/12. Feel free to add me, and welcome to the club!

  • In addition to the above post's diet, I drank almost a gallon of water a day. It really helped me feel full, and I lost. Good luck!
  • My appetite is all weird. I am 3 weeks out and usually in the morning I go hours before feeling hungry. Then it seems once I eat, I am hungry again soon after. Like I just ate 1/2 a banana, I know that should be all I can take, but I feel like I am still hungry. When I eat more, then it hurts. I am hoping that I can…
  • I am only 3 weeks, but from what others have told me, yes, the body needs time to catch up to the rapid weight loss, so it will stall periodically, but you will continue to shrink, lose, shrink, lose (I'm quoting minkakross from another post!)
  • How long have you remained at your goal? I know it has been four years, but I am wondering at what point did you reach your goal? Also, you are probably the one most inpiring person for me on MFP. Your transformation is amazing and inpiring. I am sure you WILL beat the odds.
  • Kerri, It looks like you have lost 2/3 of your weight, good for you!!! I would imagine the last third is a little more difficult. I just had a sleeve gastrectomy on 6/12/12, so I am just begining, but also want to lose 120 pounds. I can't wait to see what a 79 pound loss looks like! My Fitness Pal is going to be a great…
  • I was going to say the same thing. Protein really helps with those extreme hunger peaks. Are you getting enough on those days that you are constantly hungry?
  • This was a topic on the Weight Loss Surgery group too, so I am re-posting here as well: This is a tough one. I didn't tell anyone but my husband, initially, that I was planning surgery because I felt like a failure, like I should have been able to do this on my own. Once I relayed this fear to two of my closest friends…
  • This is a tough one. I didn't tell anyone but my husband, initially, that I was planning surgery because I felt like a failure, like I should have been able to do this on my own. Once I relayed this fear to two of my closest friends (who have never been heavy a day in their lives) they both said the same thing to me, that…
  • These posts really inspire those of us who are just starting out. I can't wait to join this post with a few pictures in the future. Thank you for sharing your stories and inspiring others!
  • My husband and I have been married for nearly 18 years. He married me thin and after children I slowly gained and gained and gained. I have always felt guilty about my size, because that is not who he married. Whenever I asked him, he always said that he loved me no matter what my size. Never, ever did he complain, but I…
  • Can't see the second picture on my pc. Maybe try posting them separately? I like the "God grant me serenity" though!
  • I had the sleeve done on June 12, 2012, so I only have two weeks experience with it. But I chose this because I did not like the idea of a permanent device left with the lap band and I didn't like the severity of having part of my small intestine bypassed. Because I already suffer from cronic kidney stones, I could not…
  • I had my sleeve done on 6/12/12, so I am not in a great position to give advice. However, when I joined this group, I also joined other surgical weight loss groups on MFP and even though some of those people have had bypass, not sleeve, the journey seems to be very similar. The message I keep getting from my 'friends' in…
  • Thank you so much. Wow, I cannot believe how awesome the support is out here. I love you guys! You are right, why put something empty into my body when I just went through major surgery to help reach my goals?! I told the groom to order me the veggie meal, I think it is layered vegetables? They weren't really sure, but I…
  • That is interesting that women are becoming insecure by your weight loss. You might try telling them that you chose to lose weight to be healthy, not to make them feel bad. Sometimes when we put it right out there, the other person will see they are being self-centered.
  • Thank you all for the wonderful advice. I, unfortunately, had mixed signals from my surgeon & staff. He verbally told me protein shakes right out of the hospital, but the discharge nurse said no. Then she gave me two different diets to follow!!! One was your clear liquids for the first week, shakes for the second and soft…
  • I, too, have not been thin since I was a teen and wonder the same thing! What will I look like?
  • My name is Christine and I had a sleeve gastrectomy on June 12, 2012. I had lost 13 pounds on the pre-op diet and have lost another 5 pounds in the 5 days post surgery. I know that I will not continue to lose weight at this rate once I start eating real food again. I am on an all clear liquid diet for the first week and…
  • I have not, personally walked around eating something, but I have given my kids something to eat and then paid for the empty at checkout time.
  • I am not a lover of artificially enhanced chocolate smells, personally. So, unless it is the real thing, no thanks.
  • You might try melatonin. It is an herbal remedy that our doctor told me to give my kids when they have trouble falling asleep.
  • I think a simple 'Thank you' is always best. However, if people say, "How'd you do it?" Then feel free to elaborate.
  • My Sister's Keeper City of Angels Lovely Bones And sooooo many others. I cry at everything!
  • Sure, just complete the goals under your profile and let My Fitness Pal do the rest. Good luck, take some time to familiarize yourself with the site and you'll do great.
  • Click the My Home tab, then under that tab, click the Goals tab, then at the bottom of the page is a 'Change Goals' button.
