I've been told that, too. And it's followed up by "Even if you lose 50 pounds, you won't feel comfortable in your skin." Thanks. No, seriously...thanks. /sigh I respond with something along the lines of "Well, it's not about looks, mostly. It's about the fact that I'm already at risk for heart disease and diabetes due to…

I'm in Alabama, but my husband's family is from all over, so I've picked up how he says things sometimes. Soda (even though people think we all only say Coke down here. There's a difference between Coke and Pepsi and I WILL specify!) Neither... It's a sandwich. Lightening bugs.

There is so much genius in this thread. So much.

Go, all of you, go and listen to this amazing band, if you all like metal/hard rock! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_XGMx7WNdU They're kind of amazing!

A.Z. (the rock band, not the rapper guy).

I'm going to have to come back to this thread! *drools*

All of this! And I PROMISE you, if you quit caffeine, you'll wonder why you relied on it because you'll feel better. At least, after the withdrawal, which is nasty, but worth it.

I cannot love this thread enough!

Hey there! You've taken a great first step, realizing what you need to do! :D I hope you find success and support here!

For me, it was that being successful can sometimes be scary. Almost every time I lose 10 pounds, I go back up. Being heavy my whole life means I don't know any other way and that's terrifying!

I have 100+ pounds to lose and often find myself in the same rut. The best way to keep going is to look at little at a time. At least, that's what I am having to do. I'm focusing on 20 at a time. Even a 20 pound difference is good. Just looking at progress pictures by others has shown me that. It's SO easy to become…

I need to hide them, especially around the holidays. I lose my happy spirit around "religious" holidays.

*Raises hand* I'm not logging lately (the stress of it on top of other stuff I've got going on was making it harder) but I'm on regularly to comment and stuffs. Add me if you want!

 Holy crap! That's amazing!! Congrats to you!!

I have apparently been saying "writhing" wrong. It's apparently a short vowel sound, not like "rithe-ing", but like the i sound in "writ". Well, then.

We know how to pronounce that one, but a friend of ours ruined us and now we call it what he did: What's That There Sauce.

Nice!

I'm a liberal, feminist, atheist. But I'm in the south, so I don't promote that via clothing or anything. And on the days I wear lots of black eyeliner, while channeling my inner goth kid, I listen to country music. >.>

I'm not a mom, but I'm stressed out college kid/house wife. I feel better when I do things like yoga and cardio regularly. It SUCKS getting started, but once you do, you'll see changes in your moods!

"I'm here" LOL

Congrats!!

I've never been asked what I was giving up for Lent. Of course, around here, Catholics are almost as bad as Atheists to some people, so it makes sense, I guess.

My advice is this: Stop looking. How do you feel since you've started? Do you feel better? More energetic? Wake up without dread? If so, it's paying off. If not, add in something more intense! I haven't checked your log or anything, but someone mentioned inconsistency. That's my biggest problem. Some people NEED structure.…

A few years ago, no one noticed much, except my husband. I wasn't exercising, so my shape wasn't changing, just shrinking a little. I started working out more a few months ago and lost about 7 pounds. A friend who sees me at least once a week noticed it soon afterward. He said it was mostly around my chin that he noticed.…

I'm similar. The only person who sees me log regularly is my husband.

At this very moment.... a big ol' salad with olives and dressing and some sort of not so great for me meat. Gah...I"m so hungry! *makes way to kitchen*
