I've been using a Garmin FR110 for a little over a year now. I wanted something basic and it's been fine, for the most part. I'm definitely going to drop $450 on the 620, though. I don't like the idea of wearing a chest strap, but I think I'll be willing to wear it once in a while just to see all of that data. I love stats!

When I first switched to zero-drop shoes - and I was wearing 6mm drop Newtons to begin with - I had a similar experience. I started only wearing them one run a week, and before long I was accustomed to it enough that I could wear them every day without any unusual calf soreness.
-
Pfft. They're just shorts. What could possibly go wrong?

My right-side headphone broke, so I just wear the left one now. Best of both worlds! I wish I could buy pre-broken ones so that I won't have to mangle a new set when the current one finally finishes dying.

I foam-roll my IT bands, then go stand around awkwardly while I wait for my watch to find the satellites.

Just... getting to that age where most of my peers are married, or at least act like it. Everyone I meet around my age is either married or still acts like they're in college (not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's not for me, not even when I was in college myself.) Not that I'm in any real hurry to be in a…

I was mad the first time someone told me I wasn't allowed to run with headphones, but I've come to realize that it's not so bad. I listen to music on long training runs, but I don't in races anymore. I think I race better and feel a little less encumbered (and thus faster, even if it's entirely psychological) without the…

Nope. Kind of a moot point now anyway; I already figured out how to deal with its BS. :) It's not an uncommon problem, either, just weird... sometimes it's like the charger drains the battery entirely rather than charging it.
-
Introvert... but what do you expect? It's the internet.

I'm happy with my Garmin. I'm even happier to not have to run with my phone. I have to admit, though... I have a Forerunner 110, and I don't know if it's just this model or what, but sometimes it just dies when I put it on the charger. I've never not been able to resuscitate it, but it pisses me off.

I don't blame you for saying this, as the term minimalist is by no means used consistently, but Kinvaras are really not minimalist. Minimalism is about the stack height of the shoe moreso than the heel-toe drop. I guess they are kind of towards the minimal end of the spectrum, but the sole is still way too thick for them…

Biking maybe? Swimming for sure.

I'm a big fan of 0-4mm drop shoes, but I run on gravel a lot so I like a slightly thicker sole. I'm not really sure what the functional difference is between, say, my Saucony Virattas (zero drop) and my Saucony Kinvaras (4mm drop) but they're both lightweight with a decent amount of cushion for longer runs.

I had been running three miles at a time, several times a week. This was in May, so it was pretty hot and I usually felt like that was enough. One day it was overcast and drizzly and I finished my three miles and I didn't feel like stopping. So I kept running for another half an hour or so. So... it just kind of happened?…

Chopsticks? :D Also, I haven't actually had the nerve to do this yet because it would be too weird, but I can see how it would help to just stop eating while you're doing something else. I've often speculated that I would eat a lot less if I ate at a table instead of my desk, but I don't even have a table...

The thing you're thinking of... yeah, that's actually not a muscle. But still, no.

This is probably not sound medical advice -- in fact it's probably not advice at all, just an anecdote -- but I sprained my ankle pretty badly last year and was back to running (slow and straight) two days later. Of course, that was like the 5th time I've sprained that ankle, and it's always been an easy recovery after the…

I mostly eat gum and coffee on road trips. And Clif bars! I'm pretty lazy... then again, I really don't get hungry if I'm just driving all day.

If I may play devil's advocate for a moment... Let's say I made a thread saying that the Antipasta is that little voice in our heads telling us to eat and satisfy all of our base, animal cravings. Let's say I declared that only by praying to the Flying Spaghetti Monster can we overcome the Antipasta's temptations and…

You did speak in the first person plural a lot in your OP. Without qualification, of which there was none as far as I can tell, that could be taken by some as you projecting your beliefs on anyone who reads it.

It's not nice to make fun of Satan's fat foot. He's very self-conscious about his cankles.

I would probably be healthier if I only ate things I could fork. So, that. Of course, it's not like I haven't eaten ice cream with a fork before.
-
I wore Newtons exclusively when I was just starting out. They were great for that purpose, but once I got comfortable with running longer distances I switched to more minimal shoes and haven't looked back.
-
They make belts that hold little water bottles, if you want to bring water with you and don't want to carry it in your other hand.
-
Nope :) I'm an exercise hipster.

Today it's high fives. Tomorrow it's purple Kool-Aid.

I'm pretty sure it's a cult.

Have you tried compression sleeves? My right calf (medial soleus and anterior tibialis to be specific) was acting up recently... not horribly painful, but bad enough for me to know that I probably shouldn't try to run through it. I went out and got a compression sleeve and I basically have no symptoms when I'm wearing it.…

I have a couple pairs of Altras. The only ones that are available in a size 15 -- the Samson and the Torin. I haven't really broken in the Torin yet so I'm reserving judgment, but the Samson is probably the best shoe I own.

Kinvara is 4mm drop. Very nice shoe, even though mine are a size too small and I really can't wear them for more than a few miles.
