Agreed. When I was in my early 20s I aggressively cut from about 215 to 163 in about 7 months. I looked at myself in pictures and looked borderline emaciated. It took me over 2 years to build myself back up to 175 and then recomp down to about 170ish. If I would have done it right the first time I would have seen the…

Ya, those two don't jive. In order to lose 35lbs in 4 months, it isn't going to come off a "smart" deficit.
-
Dude....this is crazy fast weight-loss for your weight and time frame. You'll have to cut at, IMHO, a ridiculously low amount of cals, workout pretty intensely and will sacrifice muscle mass to do so. You'd be better off giving yourself a reasonable time frame and lose the weight a bit slower, ensuring you maintain as much…

I'd pull back on the cardio, keep one long cardio day, and look at a full body lifting program. Not just crunches and squats.
-
Probably not (not saying you aren't gaining a little bit), it's nearly impossible to lose fat and build muscle at a 1:1 ratio. You're probably seeing a couple things. Probably a little bit of "noob" muscle gain, but mainly water retention from the increased activity. Whenever I up my exercise routine, or change it up I can…

Agreed....I'm a runner and used to cycle quite often and I almost hit a guy on a bike in the crosswalk once. I was making a left hand turn across two busy lanes of traffic. I was checking the crosswalk and on-coming traffic back and forth. Unbeknownst to me, a bicycle was coming up the sidewalk on the other side of the…

^^^Agreed with all previous posters. At sedentary 1200 you're probably under eating....at and active 1200 you would definitely be under eating. I would go with the minimum 1500 +exercise cals.
-
Absolutely not!
-
I'm sure YMMV, but OMG....I hated my wife's gazelle. I never felt like I got much of a workout from it and it hurt my knees. I'd take our elliptical over 10 out of 10 times.

Nobody is saying that anyone is lying to themselves or anyone else. We see it on here fairly often and what is meant isn't that the person is lying to themselves or "cheating their diary" they're just wayyyy less accurate than they thought they were being. No harm, no foul.
-
Well....considering that post was almost 2 weeks ago, I think it looks like everyone moved on.
-
I either say no thanks, or I work it into my day/week. Honestly....IMHO, not that big of deal.
-
I believe the response was due to bolded below. Which would be why the poster would have responded as to how it it really works. So maybe, your post may have started the "bit off topic".... I guess...... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
These things just don't compute. No, if you're intake of 1100 is on point....it's not normal. How long have you been at this? With your stats and 40 min of working out a day, 1900 sounds about right.....It's definitely not too much to eat and not see results. Maybe try opening your diary for others to view.

Unfortunately the team at MFP decided his voice was no longer welcome on the boards....it's a shame really, another voice of reason that leaned on science and peer reviewed research banished to the blackhole....

I guess I missed the part where I said that. Can't say I'd disagree with you on that, but that's different than saying women can't go anywhere without being harassed, which is what was said (and in IMHO made it sound like "all men are pigs") which was what I was replying to. I didn't say that instances like what you've…
-
Honestly dude: 1,200 isn't nearly enough for a 6ft tall 22 year old male. That's barely enough for my kids...you're setting yourself up to burn out and for muscle loss.
-
Saying "Females cant go anywhere anymore without guys bothering them in some way" comes across as saying it's an expected behavior, correct?....and for it to be expected that would paint a fairly broad brush across the gender (we'll even say, identifying the majority) in order for behavior as such to be anticipated, don't…
-
Then I wouldn't be making assumptions about other people, their intentions, motives or painting a gender with such a broad brush either. ;)

Eh...none of us think anything is wrong with our driving. I've seen people try to get others to roll their window down just to tell them about their driving skills. Just food for thought ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . Thanks.
-
Just throwing it out there.....but if it's in traffic, are you sure it isn't just your driving?

So then maybe it's worth pointing out that the gym isn't really some place that's fully of judgy mcjudgertons, like most posters are trying to do rather than perpetuating the gym stereotype and telling the regulars to "take it easy"??
-
Which is perpetuating and creating a preconceived notion for "resolutioners" that the gym is some scary, judgy place where all the regulars are going to look down on you, make fun of you and try to get you to quit. This honestly reads like a PF commercial. No....making it sound like the gym is some scary place where the…
-
It's probably their perpetuation of a nearly non-existent gym stereotype, all while turning the fitness enthusiast into a caricature while calling them dumb all in the name of being non-judgemental? Can you expand?
-
Don't forget the thread where we worked on a poster for 3 or 4 pages to tell us the toxinz in chicken from KFC.....it was sodium bicarbonate.....and when she told us she played it up like we wouldn't know that's baking soda.
-
I doubt anyone was actually offended.....in the debate sub-forum I usually expect someone to have an opinion on something I type.
-
IDK if I'd go that far, maybe we're in different threads or are reading from a different tone but usually when I see a food scale brought up it's usually in the context of: My weight loss has stopped...I'm in a deficit but I'm just not losing...or...I'm eating 1200 calories but just can't lose any weight. ---Do you weigh…
-
How many calories are you netting?
-
Why.....that's how the tool (MFP) is designed to work. If I didn't eat mine back, I'd be running a nearly a 2,000 calorie deficit per day.
-
^^This, and are you eating exercise calories back? If you were under eating at such a low level (1200 or less...???) and doing so much exercise the weight would be dropping substantially...and not in a good way.
